  1. Not tried this. Can it be used on a windows tablet / laptop? Can it be used on android? Or is it just an iphone / ipad?
  2. It was a great day! Thanks Tamsin and the Vectorworks team
  3. Thanks for all your help. I have now tried several times to export to dwg in 3 d to no avail. Whilst Vectorworks 3D shapes and rectangles are seen in the dwg file in 3D walls and roofs are only in 2D. The last attempt was to set up a dedicated viewport / sheet as an export drawings. Sheet No 200. Turned on all the relevant layers on in the vp, such as ground floor, first floor, roof, and floor slabs. Then exported just this one vp with the following settings. Each layer came out as separate dwg drawings. However still walls did not come out in 3D. The black background images are views in DWG True view
  4. 'image effects' on viewports is the best bit so far. Saves time trying different render modes and waiting for viewports to update and render and the occasional crash on more complex renders.
  5. Thanks Tamsin. Taxi, train tickets and hotel booked and ready for the event - looking forward to it! See you there.
  6. Ah no I was not mistaken as you can only edit here but not switch. However I have now found if you click on all layers the list is easier to see and you can move to other to other layers and sheets.
  7. Ok Thanks. I will check it out. I have just realised this is my mistake. If you click on the layer symbol at the top, layers pop down and you can easily switch to layers and sheets, etc
  8. The top drop down menus for viewports and layers and classes is much smaller on 2019 than 2018. Hence it is not easy to switch from layer to layer or viewports to layers, etc. Is there a way for making the width of this dropdown wider? The navigation pallet is ok but takes a double click and not so quick and also takes up more space on the screen.
  9. Is there a way of converting vectorwork files to sketchup? We don't have sketchup ourselves. Other consultants using sketchup have request sketchup files. We have exported to dwg and then they have imported to sketchup but only one layer imports as 3D, other layers are not shown.
  10. Spent yesterday setting up a new master project template drawing. Well not quite all day. At the end of day worth it. A god opportunity to review classes and layers.
  11. We are thinking of going. We are in Somerset so a bit of a long haul and early start and travel will be expensive. Why can't training be a bit more regionally rather than just in London? Bristol would be a great venue for the South West and South Wales. Also will the event justify the travel time and expense? It may be more of a product promotion rather than training. Anyway just jump on a train in Bristol. Paddington is the London end stop and simply catch a bus or taxi to the venue. Quite an easy London location to get to from Paddington.
  12. Just installed VW Architect 2019. We have had VW since 2003. A new file created in 2014 became our template with all classes and layers set out and has been used since then for every project and converted into the next upgrade every year. Now what is the best procedure? Convert this template to 2019? Or make a new 2019 file and import the classes and layers from the old template file? Or start again with a new 2019 file and set up a new list of classes and layers? I don't want to reduce VW 2019's performance. Perhaps a new file would get rid of any unknown bugs. Perhaps its time for a fresh start.
  13. Reckon its too late for 2019....it will be out in a couple of months! But these issues and concerns have been voiced before so hopefully vw has taken notice this time.
  14. For example, unworkable large file sizes. For instance sketch facility making the files so large and in affect unworkable. Other programmes such as Sketchup do not have a problem. The sketch mode was the main reason we purchased Vectorworks. In retrospect we should have purchased Sketchup. For instance file size of 50 mb for 2D sketch drawings of a small house. I don’t know how larger practices cope with larger schemes. Also file size increasing significantly when adding pdfs or images [low res] into a vw file. You can not submit online for planning approval such large file sizes and indeed generally email to clients, consultants and builders. Viewports taking too long to update. Frequently vw 'not responding' Our pcs are high spec, and well over the min requirements, and so this should not be a problem for a CAD programme.
  15. I foresee no major improvements in 2019 so the question arises again. However we have renewed VSS for another year but more out of loyalty and with the hope there will be a significant improvement in speed and performance as a preference over add ons. Also as a VSS subscriber more exclusive tutorials and training and advice for free. Currently you can get all this training and advice on the web for free without VSS and get the licence every 3 years at a competitive price. So what is the advantage? Rather than the web training should be local in the UK rather than just in London and be more than a few tutorials.
  16. Purchasing a new large format printer. My trusty old HP Design jet 110 has stopped printing vw files and will only now print pdfs. So we have the hassle of converting vw to pdfs before printing. HP have not updated the driver and as the printer is old HP are unlikely to do so. Thinking of the Canon IPF670: https://www.canon.co.uk/for_work/products/professional_print/large_format/ipf670/ Notice from a forum search there was a few problems with this printer series on Macs but not necessarily PCs. SSL refereed me to printers VW 2018 has been tested with but this printer is not included: http://www.vectorworks.net/support/quality-tested-hardware So my question is Vectorworks 2018 compatible with the Canon IPF670? Can you print / publish VW drawings direct in VW format? Will VW 2019 be compatible with this printer?
  17. Not sure my question was added to the wish list so my apologises if it has. Having invested in 2 large screens and licences for 2019 I hope you make the pc version the same as the mac with the facility of viewing and working on 2 drawings / open files side by side.
  18. So hopefully it will be fixed for 2019? This is one area Vectorworks fails in that it was designed for Mac and still is and Windows comes second.
  19. One improvement would be that facility to have at least 2 files open and see and work on drawings side by side. At the moment you have to flip between tabs. This may be possible on Macs but not on PCs. I will add this to the wish list and hopefully its not to late to be added to the 2019 version.

  21. NB. Thanks for the link but I do know these other services of VSS but I do not see as advantages as this can be provided elsewhere at no additional cost. Advice and training videos I would expect as free as normally provided by other software companies
