In fact it only happens on vw2009 and not vw2009, which we have just installed, which means its a vw2009 problem.

Was happening to a number of applications but now its just vw - minimise or maximise - is there a setting in vw to adjust?

VW will only open in the lower task bar and then only as maximise or minimise, taking up the full screen or no screen....most annoying, especially when running several applications on my pc. It aslo happens with other applications such as word and internet explorer. So this may not be an exclusive vw issue but thought I would cast it out there in the hope that you experts may know the answers as its driving me nuts!

I am not complaining - the main reason I got it some 10 years ago was it was good value for money. I had the training, bought the guides and tuturials, etc. But obviously each upgrade brings lots of new things, new approachs, etc and all I am saying is why they are not all on video cross reference from the help section and on a dvd shipped with the sw.

Good job I did not pay for 2009 and waited until 2010. You are right about the guides and tutorials being poor - they are a kind of afterthought and miss chunks out. The vidios are a good resource but they lack consistancy and can be of poor quality besides taking ages to download. Why is there not links from the help section to the vidios? Why is the guide and vidios not on a DVD shipped with the software?

Up to now in the UK we have been instructed by NNA to only going to our UK distributer re bugs / problems - has this advice now changed for 2009 / 2010? Also confirm that you get feedback / solutions from the NNA engineers if you error report?

It was CU that said it was going to take 2 to 3 weeks - its not a big issue - I am siting patiently taking in everybody's 2010 talk. Christiaan have you decided to go 2010 yet?

I hope walls join better - this is a main reason for getting 2010 - especially the ability for wall components to join. Also hope they have sorted out walls to roof problems, such as going back or undoing to flat top walls if roof to walls needs to be revised.

Following the threads on 2010 with envy as we in the UK will not get it for another 2 to 3 weeks. Perhaps the first up date will be out by then to sort out all the bugs!

Why does NNA use 0 and o because it is a real pain and if they do want to use them then they should make it easier to read which is 0 and which 0 sorry o! It is the same with the z and the 2.

Why does it say 'slow' after zomm line thickness? How come the line thicknesses do not show on viewports and you get 'flat' drawings with no depth? Trying to set up the new master template for 2009 and just want to start again and get the basics right. I will have to do the same again in a few weeks for 2010!

?816 including VAT [15%] and shipping for 2 licence upgrade for Architect / Renderworks from 2008 to 2009 with free upgrade to 2010. 30 days to pay and will send back if I don't like it or 2010 when it comes out in a few weeks! So far not spotted much difference between 2008 and 2009 but then I have only been on it a few days and I did not buy it for 2009 which had no appeal and bought it for 2010 with the hope that it has plenty of appeal.

That helped. Thanks. The advant garde light is still not seen as light but that is only one word in our titleblock and I can live with that as all the other text is nice and crisp. However NNA had told me to turn off GDI to help get rid of my screen flicker problem which I hope has been soreted and does not materialise on 2009. While I am at it is there a way of seeing the true thiknesses of the lines, ie 1.3. 1.8, etc.

Yah, as I say I think its there now, but will watch out if it tries to replace it. But the text in the drawing stills looks fuzzy and does not appear like the font you have selected for the text until you click actually on the text and and it changes and you see what font it is. By the way we bought avant garde some years back so we have rights to use it.

Actually I think the fonts are there, as they appear in the font choice - avant garde - which is used in our title block but on opening 2008 files VW wants to change it to aerial...but I want to keep my original type face, especially in title blocks. Also the font only looks like the font you want to use when typing and when you come out of the text it changes to something else and becomes 'furry' / not as sharp. Perhaps some setting needs doing.

Just upgraded from 2008 to 2009. SO far installation has ok but how do you add a font to VW. Remeber having this problem before when upgrading as our typeface is not in VW and we had to add the font some how.....but I have forgotton how to do it and searched in help and here and can not find the answer. Any assisatnce appreciated.

Internet Explorer 7 - must admit we only have a 2mb connection but no problem with other downloads and the old 2008 vw videos downloaded much quicker. Perhaps the intro marketing graphics are too big? Muct admit its a bit like going into the end of the world computer game! Perhaps I need to update Quicktime? but I am reluctant to do that until I install the version of QT that comes with 2010. The message cones up: Some of the MIME types previously associated with QT plugin are currently associated with other applications. Should I restore these MIME types to QT? I say no as I do not want to mess things up.

The movies are great, but takes ages to download, much longer than previous. Anyone know the link to the 2009 movies?

Christiaan How come you have not upgraded from 2008? Are you likely to go for 2010? I hear 2010 is dongle free. Not much of an incentive to buy. Anyone know if 2010 will still work with windows xp - I do not want to paying to upgrade to vista, new graphics, etc?

The testing has started over here but the testers / resellers are sworn to secrecy over what 2010 brings.

What is the beta testing of VW 2010 going like?

Had a good offer from my VW reseller - buy VW 2009 now and you get 2010 up grade for free. I never went from 2009 as it did not have much to offer and stuck with 2008, holding out until NNA attracted me with a decent upgrade. The offer runs out in 2 days. Then I will have to pay the price of 2 upgrades to get from 2008 to 2010 and the price of 2010 may have increased - my re seller says it will be twice the price of the offer. This is a considerable amount of money for our 2 licences. But I do not know what 2010 will bring. Money is tight as work has dropped. So do I hold out longer, even to 2011, or risk it and buy now? Thoughts appreciated.

In the UK it has to beat Revit

Just had a CAD rep trying to sell us Revit for ?4,500 [not sure if that came with autoCAD or not be would be useful to know]. Anyway he could not understand why I would stick with VW as it is not BIM software, I claimed VW was BIM but he still insisted it was not and lagging behind here in the UK. Also why would I pay ?4,500 for Revit plus the cost of changing and training when I have VW which costs ?1,500.

Get Dell to sort it out. I have a Precision 690 and they generally good at fixing things and / or suggesting whats wrong.
