  1. Thank you for the thoughts. Currently, our project/working files exist in this hierarchy: ~Dropbox/XYZ-Project Name/ Inside of "XYZ-Project Name", we have "0. VWX Project Share" (which has the master), and "1. Initial X", "2. Initial Y", "3. Initial Z" (each of our working files). We tried to place a relative reference folder of the DWGs into "XYZ Project Name", so only 2 folder levels back from our working/project files.
  2. Hey Pat, Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately we still experience this issue if it is set up as a relative reference. Additionally, if a second user re-points the reference if it is broken, they still cannot see the objects in their working file.
  3. Hi All, My colleagues and I have been having issues with VWX2024, Referenced DWGs, and Project Sharing. We are a 3-person team running project sharing, with the master and working files hosted on a fast and seemingly reliably dropbox folder, autosyncing to our finder's. We have been troubled by an issue involving referenced DWGs from our architect. If one user imports a DWG as a reference (either as relative path or absolute path), it will appear just fine for them on design and sheet layers. If another user opens the file after a Save & Commit action, Vectorworks prompts them to re-point the reference, which they do. However, the referenced DWG will no longer appear, even though the reference object is still in the file on the design/sheet layer. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks,
  4. Thanks, Pat. I had a similar result yesterday and today. Alas, we all must do things manually from time to time. Cheers
  5. Hi All, I am working on a project where I need to measure multiple lines drawn on top of an object and combine their distance to one measurement (IE 5x 10' sections of LED tape, adding to a total of 50'). I started using data tags to visualize the length of the individual sections, but am unable to find a way to automatically add all of these sections together. Is it possible for a single data tag to be applied to (& add) multiple objects to get it's final value? Thank you,
  6. Hi All, I've been dealing with an issue since I installed V2022 where when editing the text via record format attached to a 2D symbol, the text will not update on screen unless I double click to edit the symbol and immediately close it. Has anyone else run into this issue & come up with a fix for it? Very frustrating at times. Thanks,
  7. Hi All, UPDATE: Issue has been fixed. I had to re-install the stock lighting symbol libraries, run through the 'update' dialogue on opening (which I had previously ignored), restarted, and now it seems to be fixed. I work primarily in stage lighting and generally use my own symbols that have either been drawn from DWGs of the fixtures (with data added manually later) or by using stock Vectorworks symbols for their metadata and replacing the 2D plan symbol to style to my liking. Recently, I am no longer able to search in the Resource Manager for lights from various manufacturers (ETC, Robe, Clay Paky, etc), as I once could. This began in VWX2021 about 2 months ago to no resolution and continues to be a problem with my recent update to VWX2022. The only symbols that show up are those I have already made in the past and are in my base fixture file. A few things I have tried below: Dug through the various stock folders in the resource manager and haven't found anything in the 'logical' folders. Signed in to "premium libraries" in the sidebar. I am not a SS subscriber and hold a student license so this was not helpful. Confirmed my search is for "Everywhere" and not just "Specific File". A few screenshots attached. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks
  8. The issue I am trying to prevent is what you outlined here: Text styles are required to have a pen color and cannot automatically be colored by class while still remaining a "styled" text object. For example: Write text with a Text Style (IE Arial Narrow 6pt Center Center). The text has the default color of the text style. Move the text object into a class with a purple pen. The text will assume the attributes of the class. Change the text style to something else (yet with the same pen because there is no option for color by class, like Arial Narrow 8pt Center Center). The text will become the color of the text style's pen rather than the class it is in. Extra steps are needed to correct this every time. Hope that helps
  9. Hi, I wish Text Styles' color had an option to "Color by Class" in addition to defining a color for the class manually via the text style. Adding text with a class activated, applying the text style, and then having to set the Foreground & Background color to that of the class adds an unnecessary step. When adding text and adding the text to a class, there should be an option for the text color to abide by the class attributes rather than the text style attributes. Curious to hear what people have to say about this. Surprised this isn't an option in Vectorworks yet.
  10. Jeff— Forgive me if any of my wording was confusing. If I place text into a class with a specific color defined, write the text (which at this point will assume the color of the class, what I want), and then set the text style after (which is normally how I work), it will change the color of the text to the color defined in the text style. In the text styles editor, there is no option to set the color to "Color by Class". It requires that you select a color. Hopefully the attached screenshot will help clarify. Cheers
  11. It's become exceedingly frustrating for text styles within Vectorworks to not have the option to be colored by class and instead are required to have their own proprietary color. This requires either various duplicate text styles with color that align with my class colors or more unnecessary clicking when assigning classes to objects drawn by someone else/imported. I've seen this posted around the forums since 2016 and still no word from Vectorworks if this will be implemented...Seems like an easy enough addition to me. Does anyone else share this frustration or am I alone? Thanks!
