What is the OS product you are trying to import? Is it Mastermap, VectorrMap Local or one of the others? I have imported many OS maps and may be able to offer a suggestion.
  2. In VW 2016 you could create a custom line type using a small rectangle and assign it a sketch style which would display in a viewport with the sketch style. This no longer seems to work in VW 2017 unless I am missing something. Could this be a bug? If anyone has any ideas on this I would be interested.
  3. Do you have any 2D spot heights? as 3D contours can be created from these.
  4. Thank you very much. I figure out where to attach the node but couldn't find the correct node to attach, there are so many. Thanks again.
  5. Marissa Could you point me in the right direction for inserting a Prefix before the number.
  6. Thank you very much. I will have a look at this over the Christmas Holidays. Merry Christmas
  7. I originally posted this in the Wish List but having watched the first Marionette tutorial this seems like an ideal project for marionette. What I would like to achieve is outlined below. Have you ever just finished a housing layout with say 300 houses plotted and numbered from Plot 1 to Plot 300 and the client comes back with can we turn Plot 6 into a pair of semi-detached houses. That means renumbering from Plot 6 onward. Even with the number stamp this is tedious. I would really like to select a polyline type tool that inserts a number at every click (with a prefix & trailer) so that if I insert another point (eg. between Plot 6 & Plot 7) it will shift all subsequent numbers on one digit. Even better if it could be used to number on plot parking spaces (as different house have more or less spaces) and by holding down a modifier key you could insert 3 or 4 instances of the same number. But where to start? Any tips would be appreciated.

  9. Any progress on fixing the problems with Property Lines?
  10. When I try and clip a Property line with a simple polygon it displays the message "Illegal object(s) selected. This seem to be a step backward of is it just a glitch in VW.
  11. In VW2016 I could clip, intersect and subtract areas from Property Lines using a any polygon. In VW2017 this is no longer possible. What has gone wrong?
  12. Correct the limitation is only in the spreadsheet. I have inserted around 20000 rows in a database.
  13. The current Worksheet in Vectorworks is limited to 4094 rows which is incredibly limiting if importing large amounts of data from Excel or similar. Is there some technical reason why there is this limitation? I would like to see a dramatic increase in this number.
  14. It seems you can only create a worksheet of 4094 rows. This seems very poor and not much use if copying and pasting from other spreadsheet applications. I will add this to the Wish List.
  15. Its part of a previous post where I am attaching heighht data from a .csv file that can be opened in excel and copy and pasted in the VW worksheet. I have managed to make the process work with some sample data of about 80 rows but in the real world for a large project the is a considerably large. I am just trying it out on an old project which has about 30200 values. If the VW worksheet is a database it can accept this number of rows but not as a spreadsheet.
  16. Does anyone know the maximum number of rows in a worksheet? I am trying to copy and paste a large excel spreadsheet (20000rows +) in VW but don't think the woksheet in VW has the capacity.
  17. This the step by step instruction on how to import the .csv height data. It may be of use to people in the UK. OS Mastermap data is supplied with 4 separate files if downloaded in a .dwg format • OS_Mastermap.dwg • heights.csv • heights.csvt • schema.ini In order to use the height data you must down load the same OS file as a “Shape File”. Import the Shape file TopographicAreas.shp into Vectorworks. Custom Select just the building polygons (move to a separate layer and delete the othe OS data). Alternatively copy and paste into a new document. Tools>Custom Setect>Select Criteria>Field Value – Decript1 = Building. The heights .csv data needs to to be imported into Vectorworks and linked to the corresponding building polygons. Create a “New Record” 1) Through the resource browser create a new record format containing fields called a) os_topo_toid (default number 0) b) relhmax (default number 0.0) 2) Select all building polygons and attach the record format by ticking the box next to the Record in the Record Format folder in the Resource Browser. 3) Merge the 2 Record Formats 4) Tools>Records>Merge Record Formats 5) Select all building polygons create a report (Tools>Reports>Create Report) and name it. “Height Data” a) Title: ----- b) List all: Object with a record c) Listing objects with height data: OS Height Data Need to import the height data from the .csv file. Open the .csv file in Excel. Copy and Paste into a blank Vectorworks spread sheet. Open the “Height Data” report which should now have a new column called “relhmax” Make sure the Excel Spreadsheet and The Height Data worksheet are both sorted in decennding order by “os_topo_toid”. Copy and paste the data in column “relhmax” in Excel into the corresponding column in VW worksheet. The height data should now be attached the correct building polygon. To create the extrude polygons for buidings. Select all buildings. Tools>Records>Modify by Record Record: Height Data Record Field: relhmax Modify: extrude Apply to: Selection Multiplier: 1 (1000 if your units are set to mm)
  18. I've just tried your suggestion and it seems to work really well. I'll try it on a slightly more complicated project, but you seem to have solved my problem. Many thanks for taking the time to help.
  19. Thanks for that, it does the job perfectly. Your help is much appreciated. Cheers!
  20. Is there a way to custom select and separate closed polygons from open polygons where all other attributes are the same. The select similar tool doesn't seem to have anything that will do the job, neither does the custom selection option, unless I am missing something.
  21. I'm off on holiday to Sicily for a week but will try this on my return. Cheers
  22. Yes thats what I intend to use.. The problem is the height data is in a worksheet and not connected to the record attached to the polygons. They both have a common ID but are not physically connected. I need to somehow merge the 2 sets of data. Is it possible to convert a list in a worksheet items into a database and then link the 2?
  23. I have imported buildings as shape files which have height data attached from the Ordnance Survey and have imported into a Worksheet, data supplied as a separate .csv file. Both the polygons and the worksheet have the same record data fields "os_topo_toid". Can the worksheet be linked polygon data so that the data is merged and I can extrude the buildings to the correct height as listed in the worksheet. If anyone has any ideas on this I would be very interested. I have attached some OS sample data.
  24. It seems you have to remove class attributes from the object within a symbol that you want to modify with modify by record command. Then convert the symbols on the the plan to groups and run Tools > Record > Modify by record. This will change any object within the group that is not controlled by class attributes.
  25. It seems as if "modify by record" works if you just attach a record to a polygon. If this is then becomes part of a symbol it no longer responds to the modify request. The VW dialogue box implies it will still work as part of a symbol and a group. It does work with a group but not a symbol.
