  1. Update... It turns out my draftsman is running Windows 11 with Vectorworks 2023, and I'm running Windows 10 with Vectorworks 2023. Could this be problematic?
  2. Hi All, I'm currently working remotely with my draftsman. We work independently on small projects and simply upload files to a mutually share folder in my Microsoft OneDrive. However, when I open the file they've uploaded, I find some of the annotations in one or 2 section viewports has shifted. Beyond the annotations, I've also noticed some viewport class settings have also changed. I've checked our Origin settings and they are the same - but this should have no affect on class settings anyway. I can't think of anything that could possibly cause this. I've scoured the forum and have only found discussions on Layer Plane v Screen Plan. This issue is only apparent in Sheet layers (which is a screen plan only), so I don't think that's applicable. Anyone ever run into this? Thanks! Chris
  3. @Tom W.Oh wow... ok. I'm not exactly sure I understand how editing proposed topo would be accomplished via recreate from source data. I'm still relatively new to VW. That's been my reset button. I'm thinking the best thing to do would be to redraw proposed contours and model on a different design layer and turn on/off depending on what I want to show the client. Does that make sense? Thanks, Chris
  4. Hi All (again), I'm editing proposed site contours. When I reshape the contours, I get these sagged 'wrinkles' in the topography. Terrain should have a nice smooth slope to it, but instead I get these sagged points. The more I try to simplify and smooth it, the worse it gets by VW adding hundreds of vertices and additional contours that shouldn't be there... Are there hidden locus points I can't see? What could be causing VW to have such a mind of it's own? I've been reading other posts and it sounds like others have the same issue with no resolution - other than to simplify the model. This model is already pretty simple. Thanks, Chris
  5. *Update* I managed to figure it out. I clicked "recreate from source data" and found that my contour z heights were not what I originally entered. (why ?, I don't know). Once I replace with correct z heights, I was able to select the contours when I click "edit proposed contours". I don't understand, but it's working so...
  6. Hi All, Using VW 2023 and having an issue editing the proposed contours of my site model. When I click on my site model and click on edit proposed contours in the OIP, the editing contours dialog box appears. I select the selection tool, but cannot select or reshape any of the contours. I'm in the correct design layer and my layer option is set to modify others. What am I missing? Thanks! Chris
  7. @shorterNo worries at all! An interesting tangent, and a question I would have likely come to the forum with in time.
  8. Thank you all for the help on this... much appreciated! Data Tags it is!
  9. Yes... and that does work in that it overrides the issue. I was really hoping to solve the main issue and avoid a two-step process. I've been using Vectorworks 'professionally' for less than a year and when I do hit a dead end, the culprit is usually a setting somewhere that I'm missing. But maybe I'm just not using the tags correctly? I'm also learning that the program is not free of bugs. Thanks very much for your help!
  10. I'm experiencing an issue with window ID Tags. I'm in the process of creating a window schedule. When working on the model in the design layer and I click on a window, both boxes are checked in the OIP under ID Tag (Include on Schedule and Show Tag in 2D), but a few window ID tags appear empty. There is no obvious difference between a window with an empty ID Tag, vs a window with one that is filled. I've read several threads where this occurs in the viewport, but their fix does not apply as my issue occurs is in the actual model. Things I've tried with no effect... * Changing window to unstyled * Changed classes * Unchecked and rechecked boxes * Closed Vectorworks and restarted program I'd appreciate any ideas anyone may have! Chris
  11. Hi Folks, Just ran into a similar issue as Darren K. I was placing dimensions in Annotation Viewport on a sheet layer and my dimension text was visible, but lines were not. In the OIP, all class settings were correct, and I was placing dimensions within the correct class. The issue for me turned out to be that "Class Style" under "Pen" in the Attributes tool pallet at bottom left was set to "None". Changing the Pen to "Class Style" made dimension lines appear. Hope this is helpful for someone else.
  12. And there it is... Thanks Tom W! Appreciate the help very much!
  13. Tom W. - thanks for your response. That's a great question... I'm not sure. I'm using the Framing Member tool under the Detailing tool set, so I assume 'Roll Angle' is what I need. I don't see that parameter under the OIP. Attached, are all that I see available to me. Is 'Roll Angle' located elsewhere?
  14. Hi All, I’m having an issue rotating a roof rafter on the y-axis. Full disclosure, this is my first design using Vectorworks, so I’m still a newbie. I have a shed roof at a 2/12 pitch (9.46 degrees). I have a 2’ roof overhang at eaves and rakes, so I want to show ladder framing at rakes. I’ve drawn the ladder frame rafters, but they’re profile is vertical in the ‘back’ view (see attached). I want to rotate each rafter 9.46 degrees (on the y-axis) so they’re perpendicular to the main rafters at the 2/12 pitch. I’ve tried the rotate command, and I’ve tried rotate 3D, in both “Top/Plan “ view and “Back” view; each time I get a message saying “Hybrid objects can only be rotated about the z-axis”. I’ve done some digging online and others concur that this is an impossibility as objects cannot be rotated in that manner. Surely this cannot be, as ladder framing is a common practice. I’m hoping someone out there can tell me what I’m doing wrong or can point me in a different direction. Thank you! Chris
