  1. Hi, We are currently running VW 10, 11, 11.5, 12 and 12.5 on our work network. The software currently uses both a serial number and hardware USB dongle. The main problem were having is that when a user moves to a different machine, and takes the dongle, the serial number has to be entered again. Is there any way to get the serial number to be saved in the users? profile? So that a user can move from machine to machine (with dongle) and not have to re-enter the serial number every time? I looked in the registry and can see that the serial number is stored in a string value at; [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\VectorWorks NN\Registration] (Where NN is the version number) The idea I had was to enter all the available serial numbers into the registry on all our machines so that the serial number would always be available, no matter which machine the user was working on: I.e. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\VectorWorks 10\ "Serial Number Count"=dword:00000003 "Serial Number 0"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 1"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 2"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\VectorWorks 11.5\ "Serial Number Count"=dword:00000002 "Serial Number 0"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 1"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nemetschek\VectorWorks 12\ "Serial Number Count"=dword:00000006 "Serial Number 0"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 1"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 2"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 3"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 4"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" "Serial Number 5"="xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx" Etc, etc? This would make it a kind of ?dongle only system? and negate having to ever enter serial numbers for vector works again. What I would like to know is; A) Will this work? B) Is this ok to do, in terms of EULA? C) Is there any other way to solve the problem? Lastly I would just like to say that the idea of having both a serial number and hardware dongle system is rather lame. The only people you make it difficult for are legitimate end users. Anyone who wanted to could just crack the software. The only people who have any hassle with the system are the ones that have legitimately bought the software, rather defeats the point I think! Regards, Fraser.
  2. Hi, What is the latest version of quicktime that works OK with VW 11.51 on a PC? I read some posts recomending earlier versions than the latest in some cases. Thanks Ben

Thanks for this. I will check that all users don't have this option selected in future! Cheers Ben

    Waste paper after plotting.

I am using a Designjet 1055CM Plus plotter, with VW11.5 (PC), after a number of prints have been sent to the plotter at A1, I start to receive an additional A0 sheet from the plotter after every sucessful print, with the text:- "ERROR: undefined OFFENDING COMMAND: STACK:" The plotter says that an error has occured and press enter to continue flushing the job. Any advice with regard to this would be helpful! Cheers Ben

    Exporting to DWG

As an update to the post above, the export to DWG problem seems to be apparent with only some files, and was introduced with the latest update (i.e. the 40462 update). I have files that consistently crash Vectorworks when completing the export if someone from Nemetschek would like to review them. Cheers Ben

    Exporting to DWG

I am also having problems exporting DWG files from VW 11.5 (exporting from 11 works fine). Can anyone supply a fix or work around for this. Is there a response from Nemetschek? Cheers Ben
  7. I have a symbol which uses the constrained line dimension tool to display distance horizontally and vertically on my screen. The symbol when being edited displays correctly. However, when I put the symbol into a drawing, the vertical dimensions do not have the line to indicate their start point and end point. All horizontal lines do though. This file is being worked on in 10.51, if I open the file in 11.5 the problem is resolved. Unfortunately I need to get this working in Vectorworks 10. Thanks Ben

    files read-only after mailing

This sounds more like an email issue rather than a Vectorworks problem. What email client are you using (i.e. entourage) and version. B

    PDF file creation problems.

Travis, Thanks for this. Changing the DPI to 300 seems to have resolved this problem on at least one machine I have tested so far. Ben

    PDF file creation problems.

Hi, I am having problems creating PDF files from Vectorworks 11.01. I am using Acrobat 6 (both standard and professional) on a PC. In some cases PDF files are blank, in other cases random lines are missing. This is happening on different machines and seems to be very erratic. Cheers Ben
  11. Is it possible to reference vectorworks 10.5 files into a vectorworks 11.01 drawing - without converting the 10.5 files? Cheers Ben

    Black overwrite problem

Katie, I have checked that I am using the latest drivers for both PC and MAC. The files print exactly the same from both the PC and MAC - so not sure if it is the drivers. I have tried simulating an image where there is a black line intersecting a block of colour from another application. This problem doesn't occur....

    Black overwrite problem

I am currently having problems printing to a Canon 1180 printer with an NX60 RIP. I have tried two setups:- MAC OS 10.3.4 Vectorworks 10.51 And Windows XP (SP1) Vectorworks 11 The problem occurs when I have a drawing with solid blocks of colour and black lines going through the blocks of colour. It looks like there is a white border either side of the line, this is noticeable with all lines that run diagonally across the page. My printer manufacturer suggested that I should set the ?black overwrite? setting on, which I have done. I am using the latest drivers supplied by windows and the latest drivers downloaded from the Canon site for MAC OSX. Using another printer in the office (Ricoh CL7000) the prints come out fine! Any help would be appreciated. Ben Clayton
