Any word from NNA on this?? Please..

When working on any file in VW 2008, it freezes randomly when picking an object. I have to shut down computer and restart. This is a new computer and the program was a clean install before and anti-virus was installed. SP 3 is updated. Brand new 2700M. (Nvidia doesn't list a driver for 2700M ...hmmmmm???) What is going on? Vector Works 2008 SP3 Windows XP Pro NVIDIA GFX FX 2700M Intel ® Core 2 Duo CPU 2.99 GB RAM Wacom Intuos 2 Tablet

It would really be nice to be able to apply 3 different textures to the walls of a massing model to get a little added definition to a 3D model without having to create walls, etc. By this I mean a setting that allows different textures for (1) base, (2) middle and (3) cap to a building mass can change the visual affects dramatically. If you could set the 1st or 1st and 2nd floors to one texture and the middle to another and then finally specify the cap/cornice/parapet. I would be eternally happy. The floors still would need to contrast and for added effects you could provide a setting for base and cap offsets to show some added mass even for flat roofs.

Does anyone know of a good lighting program that enables you to plot photometrics (light readings on the ground)for outdoror lighting designs using manufacturer's IES files?

I'v ehad problems with others plotting my PDF's using Kip Requests if TT Fonts, transparecncies or layering are used. Has anyone else had this problem?I think it was a proble withthier plotter program

Dear Santa, It would be very nice to be able to plot photometric readings for various manufacturers lights using IES files. This is a basic requirement for all site plan submittals to municipalities and a standard for LEED projects. Ideally it would be available through LANDMARK since site lighting is intregal to site planning but even if I had to get SPOTLIGHT it would be worth it. I need total control over the graphic display of 'read points' to manage the clarity of the plotted output of various scale plans. Thanks so much!

I too had the same problem with Graphite font and not being able to display it on the screen during layout (along with GDI on) is an impediment. The biggest problem I am having however is that as an Open Type Font I am generating PDF's that others cannot open. The error message is making reference to the OT Font. Is anyone else having this problem or does anyone know the difference in OT Fonts and True Type? Why would Adobe make sometning that didn't work when exporting to a pdf???

Frequently if not always I rotate my viewports on my Sheet Layer. We need to be able to rotae the palnt tags when doing so and according to your tech dept there is no way to do this. This is really important when zooming in on typical buildings, etc. I also ca't seem to extend the leader on the plant tag and it would be better to be able to control the leader at both ends like a callout rather than have it jump in post=ition on plant groups. Naturally we want total control. Thanks,... I really love this program and 2008 is the so much better by far.

Not only would it be convenient it is essential as far as I can tell. Can anyone help us out on this one? I can't produce a Landscape Plan using Landmark with a rotated viewport in the sheet. Every option I try when rotating plant tags for plant groups seems to rotate the entire group. As good as this program seems to be there must be a way....

Yes both the Show/Hide (don't know why I didn't see this before)and the plant "enable 2D Rendering" help. Oddly it still shows the color fill (on symbols from vw plants library)but the shading and triple outline don't regenerate. Maybe the color fill is not considered part of "rendering" This significantly speeds up my drawing process and was exactly what I was looking for. Thank-you

Is there a way to switch off the rendering of plant symbols so that I don't have to wait for them to regenerate each time I draw or move something? I still want to see the plant outlines but not all the time consuming rendering until I'm ready to final render it.

I have recently upgraded to 2008 and am having a strange experience with my Adobe Graphite standard font not displaying correctly. It shows up correctly in my font list and even displays correctly while typing. However when I hit enter and move on it flips back to displaying it in an Arial font, making it hard to compose drawings. Stranger still is that it prints in Graphite and exports to pdf in Graphite. It works (and displays) correctly in all other programs. I have deleted the font mapping which had it mapped to Arial but still no luck. All other fonts work correctly. Any advice on what to try? :confused:

Thanks Mike I did mean to say 2007. but actually the error message I am getting is: "OpenDWG Library Error 8 This DWG version is not supported." Normally I can use ACAD TrueConvert to dumb them down to 2004 but for some reason I have a problem importing this particular file. I realize this may have nothing to do with the Conversion but I don't know enough about ACAD to tell. Any ideas?

When will we be able to import ACAD 8?

My (Windows)error message box offered a link to details that said my problem of not opening was a Quick Time error. Katie, then suggested my standard workspace had become corrupted and that I replace (in Windows root directory) the corrupted work space files with ones in the back-up folder. I'm having the same problem (VW 12.5.2 QT 7.1.6 and Window XP Pro) I sat down to work last night and it wouldn't open. Same symptons. I hadn't touched from teh day before and it was working fine. Can you give step by step what seemed to fix it for you? Please

YOU'RE CORRECT IT ALL WORKS WELL EXCEPT FOR THE INDENT. IS THERE ANYWAY TO INDENT (LIKE CNTL M IN WORD) OTHER THAN TABS AND SPACES WHICH REALLY MESS UP A DOCUMENT?

Larry, I had the same problem with the program asking for backtangents and what I needed was forward tangents. I couldn't get a suitable answer from VW so we constructed the geometry and found that if you did a manual conversion, by adding (or subtracting?) 90d its pretty simple to obtain the answer. Its easier to switch over to radian than degrees (or was it the other way around. Hope this isn't too cionfusing. Oh by the way you can't just input any value into the pop-up (which is the intuitive way).

I am also struggling with this trying to export VW11.0 to AutoCAD 2000 so that my civil guys can work with it without a great deal of trouble. Should I not be trying to export Sheet Layers with viewports? Why is my text blank? It would help to have a step by step description with all of the nuiances noted.

I had called in and asked that the fuzzy, sketch line effect be made active in 2D. I was pleased to hear that it is now in the works. I hope that you have included an architectural lettering font. Thanks so much.

Several times I have been on the trail of solving some of my questions only to have the discussion on the forum to end with: "Send me a copy of your file to review." It would be helpful for you to continue to post the correspondence you have with the user and specifically what you fine to be wrong with their file. Specifically my visual runtime error problem remains unsolved although a recent post delt with the same error message and ultimately dribbled off into a private communication with the user and Nemetschek. Just a suggestion.

Katie, I'm still getting this Runtime Error message. I've installed Nvidia 53.03 (talked with another tech at VW and he said he was running the later 61.76 version with no problems) I've now tried both and yes they were installed. Problem seems to be less frequent but still about every hour or more. Norton anti-virus is still disabled and I'm at a loss. What shall I do next?
