  1. Hi all, can anyone tell me if colors and color pallet options have improved in v 12? Can custom color pallets be generated and saved? Thanks!
  2. Hi Paul, Islandmon's solution should work fine. Also when you create your report, you should be able to select the option to search inside of the symbols to find the records. If you look at the bottom of the Create Report screen, there is a small options button. From there you can select 'Search In Symbols'. This should work for you.
  3. Sorry, the above post should have been directed at Fuge.
  4. Christaan, I would stick with VectorWorks if I were you. We make playground equipment, and took a hard look at SolidWorks, and although very impressive, took a 'risk' with VW. I doubt if I would ever turn back. I seldom have problems finding ways to model different components we manufacturer. Now if I were to design precision machinery that would have video-explosive movies, than maybe I would think differently.
  5. I thought I read it somewhere, but I cant find it. Does VW 12 use shadows with some options to change to soft edges, or shadow color?
  6. Didnt know you could do that in 10.6! I still found that Dashboard screwed up my permissions. Since I have turned it off my permissions seem to be fine consistently.
  7. Hi all, I have noticed that Dashboard is always the source of corrupted permissions. I can repair permissions once, then verify again, and the same ones seem to pop up. Dashboard also also consumes quite a bit of memory, and may leach performance from VectorWorks tasks. For the small amount of time I use Dashboard, I have decided to turn it off completely. 8. Well, thats my last resort. Just wondered if there was around somewhere. Thanks all.
  9. I am actually looking for a French Curve. I need it to creat a French Curve on a CNC machine. Thanks!
  10. I have been searching for a while for a CAD file for a French Curve - could be a DXF/DWG or VW file. Anyone have such an animal?
  11. Anyone know how to eliminate the black border around viewports? Thanks.
  12. I second this. I frequent the wood texture in Artistic Renderworks (Cartoon style) and my backgrounds always appear grey no matter what the light settings. Anyone have some advice?
  13. If I have a symbol, and I attach records to it, and use that symbol in another symbol, if I add an additional record to the first symbol, shouldnt it automatically update itself in the second instance?
  14. I would probably hold off. I would doubt that Apple will upgrade the current generation IBM G5's again, so the biggest processor you can probably ever get is a 2x2.7 ghz. Or... wait until they are issued, then get a great deal on a discounted 2x2.7. Looking at the performance increases once Apple went to Intel iMacs, I bet the new PowerMacs will be out of the park. 15. Further investigation shows that my records that I have attached in my symbol library somehow get stripped when I import them into a new document. Any suggestions to why this is suddenly occuring?
  16. Another note - VW doesnt seem to want to look inside the symbols for the records, as the records are embedded in another symbol in the entire assembly. Yes I do have the 'Search in Symbol' checked in the options...
  17. Hi all, here is something I usually dont have any problems with: record reporting. I have created a handful of new 3D symbols. I have attached the appropriate record formats, I have edited the records with information. Then I go to produce a report, and nothing shows up. I have tried everything, new worksheets, new documents... If I produce a report of just symbols, then everything shows up fine. Any ideas?
  18. OK, So with the different style of NURBS curve, I can get an extrude to taper, except it increases its width in the wrong direction. Any quick fix to reverse this?
  19. No worries, guys, finally got to what I want. Thanks for all your help!
