Dave, What is the command for Automatic Lighting? Is it the set ambient command or something else. Nothing shows up when I do a help search for "automatic lighting". Thanks,

Katie, I did exactly that. Booted up on the firewire drive and installed HaspLM drive for 10.4 and the LM Hotfix. Then rebooted and the dongle light didn't come on. Do I have to do a complete install of VW 11 with all the upgrades to get a file I'm missing or should the dongle install be enough? Thanks,

Berge that addess doesn't work for me. Did it give a file that needed to be moved into the system folder? This is my backup drive and I just copied the whole VW folder to the drive so I'm guessing I need a file that wasn't in the applications folder. I could do a full install but then I have to go thru the multiple upgrade stuff. Thanks

I'm not getting any shadows in FW or OGL render on the drawing I'm working on. If I render the main floor layer alone, it works but if I render the 3D layer (linked roof layer and main layer) no shadows. I can't find an option that would shut them off. I know I'm missing something simple. Thanks for the help.

Berge, I found the problem with the web site. Aladdin has two d's. That other site thought a hasp was a hinge. Anyway, I downloaded the driver and installed it along with the 10.4 patch. Still no light in the dongle and VW can't see it. Must be a VW file missing. It works just fine when I boot back over to my internal drive.

Thanks Katie, but when I boot up on the fire wire drive it becomes the primary drive. As the primary drive it still doesn't work.

Is Automatic Lighting the view -> lighting -> set ambient? I got it to work by turning this off, but now I can't duplicate the problem by turning it back on. I'll confussed... Also my view ports for my elevations don't have shadows. I've changed everything I know about in the RB for the view ports. I created a new view port from the 3D view and it shows shadows. ????????

I just installed Tiger and it's upgrades on my backup firewire drive so I could test it before I put it on my main drive. I installed VW 11.5.1 as well and now VW won't launch. It says it can't find the dongle. The dongle is there but the little red light is not on. When I reboot back on the main drive running 10.3.9 everything works just fine. Help...

Don, How do you print in grey scale? VW only give the option to print in B&W from a color drawing. Thanks

I'm actually really interested in this feature. It seems like most of the time I spend on a set of plans is on the section sheet and if edits to walls are required I have just been redrawing the section stuff from scratch. One thing I'm concerned about is the amount of information that must be erased from the section after it's turned into a "convert to hidden lines". All the triangular lines, extra lines around windows, etc. It is really nice to have the elevations "live" thru VPs but sometimes requires covering unwanted items with lines and boxes in annotation because they can't be erased. This method has been working fine mostly because the final render version is quite realistic. It also pretty easy to fix the annotation after walls have been moved on the floor plan. I'm hoping this will make sections as easy. I really do look forward to trying it out.

bc, I still seem to need to split as a group to maintain the classes that were set for the PIO. Then take all the group pieces and put them back together as a symbol. But it does work! Thank you thank you thank you. Larry

How do you take an existing window and cut off one half? I want to create a 3D symbol using parts of a window PIO. So I convert it to a group. Then how do I cut it in half. I tried clipping surfaces and subtracting solids all with no success. I would like to just put a rectangle on the side I want to get rid of and click "go away". Now have a 3D remaining window I can add to the original group to make a new custom window. This should be easy. no? Thanks for any help.

No go on the Zoom with scoll wheel only. Travis, I did try a Kensington ball for a whole month. I loved the ability to program all the buttons but I didn't like the trackball. Going back to the mouse was like taking off leg weights. I have most of my commands on single key strokes on the keyboard. I just want to zoom without holding down a helper key. Thanks,

I'm really happy using my Logitech mouse. The scroll button will pan up and down, or with an option key down will zoom in and out, or with a the shift key down will pan right and left. I would like to switch the zoom in and out to the default with no modifiers and the pan up and down when the option key is held. The Logitech mouse center software just lets you set the button to scroll. I can't find anything in the mouse software or VW to change this. Any of you Logitech users figured this one out? Thanks for the help.

I like using the detail bubble and I like using letters for my details. If I add "A" or any letter the bubble returns "0". Seems like this one would be really easy to allow. Thanks,

I still need to get this to work. Robert is more documentation available for this tool. Right now I'm drawing all the straight lines and fudging the arcs. Help... please...

Has anyone mastered the property line tool? It works fine with straight lines but I'm really frustrated with the arcs. The help file doesn't really give any example. Does anyone have a step by step example of how it works. The survey example I have to work with has delta angle in d, m, & s, radius, and length. Thanks for the help.
