Does anyone know of a plugin that works just like the Detail Bubble except will allow the use of letters not just numbers? Thanks

If Vectorworks would let us use single key strokes for menu commands it would really help us old acad users. It works perfect for tools commands but requires a modifier for menu commands. Personally I really like mnemonic single key commands. It is possible to make a vectorscript tool that calls the menu command and use a single key stroke to call the tool but this only works in plan view and requires an additional mouse click. Helpful but a limited solution.

Never did figure this out. I deleted the VPs and created new ones. The new VPs work fine. I have no idea why the others had so much light.

Without changing anything my FRW in the VP is blinding white over exposed. The 3D model still looks ok with FRW. When I turn off all the lighting in the VP it is still too much. If I crank back my light objects, turn off the ambient layer light, and turn off the VP lights it is better but now is grainy and splotchy. What did I do?

After carefully considering this post... I have decided to go with a rabbits foot for virus protection. I have it on top of my monitor. =-)

Peter this is the way I've been doing elevations and it works really well. The one complaint is the bad job using hiddenline in the top view port. Using Pete's method of converting a copy to lines will let you fix the problems that hiddenline leaves which is cool. The new problem is I like to use a mild sketch on the top view port. I can't figure out how to get this new group of lines, now in the annotationed viewport to take a sketch.

You had me excited about the less time to open VW. But it takes exactly the same amount of time to open, 59 seconds. Opening a large drawing file after VW is running takes just a few seconds.

That reminds me I used to fly from Phoenix to Las Vegas in the morning and the flight took 55 mins. We would arrive 5 mins before we left. Also would get to see the sun rise in both places. Cool...

I just got a 2 Gig Mac Book and even with standard 1 gig of ram it is over 7 time faster than my G4 iMac for FQ Render.

Christiaan you had me really exicited for a couple of minutes. My systems is totally modified so everything is as close to a numonic key stroke as possible. At the risk of sounding ungrateful I agree with Petri, what I would like is the tool that could look at all my modifications and generate that list as a file I can print out.

I just want to select "join" and draw a line between the two roof faces and they magically fit together. Just like with walls. Islandmon has a work around that makes roof faces fit together perfectly... but you have to be a Steven Hawking physicist to perform the math.

What is the NL version and what's the name of the tool?

I still find it amazing that in this powerful 3D solids design software that we don't have a command to extend and trim a roof face.

Using hidden-line render when two surfaces are exactly connected the line will sometimes show up and sometimes not. Using the option for smoothing angle doesn't seem to change this. Is there another tolerance setting or trick to get the line between two walls or a wall on top of a wall to go away? Thanks,

I just came up with a new configuration for my second monitor. Made a stand to raise the second monitor so it's over my Macbook screen. Now everything is right in front of me. I have all the menus on the smaller Macbook monitor and use the entire 19" for the drawing. Also makes them seem more connected as far as going back and forth. So far I really like it.

Hey thanks for all the info. I really do want to be able to use these as 3D symbols. The xfrog trees make the standard sitework_trees really look like cartoons in a 3D render. The xfrog trees have no 2D except a cross but are so real and cast great shadows in final renderworks. Mike are you saying these xfrog symbols are called "image props"? If so where does it describe how to make these? Thanks

Yes. When I copy my old user dictionary file from 12.01 to 12.5 it will crash as soon as I hit spell check.

I was unable to update via the internet and had to get the DVD upgrade. The UserDict file was not there. The UserDict file from ver 12.01 was read/write permissions. As soon as I removed the file, the software does not crash and acts like it is learning (no error message) but doesn't. Sent the crash log to tech email.
