  1. Thank you, but my issue is that my Sheet Layer displays properly, but it doesn't print out what is displayed on the Viewport.  This has happened once before and a solution was never forthcoming.

My storefront symbols appear correctly in ALL viewports, including elevations, perspectives, etc.   The storefronts print in other viewports, just not any of the plan related views.

This is very strange.....  Until yesterday this was not an issue.  But today, the curtail wall/storefront does NOT publish on my Floor Plan Sheets.  But.....

they publish on all of the other sheets.  I have spent so much time trying to figure this out, to no avail.

Any suggestions?  Yes - I have checked the class settings, etc.  They actually display on the sheets, but don't print.

Well - this is happening again!!!  I have tried everything I can think of - even using version 2023...  Still an issue - and I need to publish for Permit Review, of course.

The first pic is the published version of the Sheet Layer on the right.....

  3. I have a similar issue.  I have a Storefront style door with frame inserted into a Wall. I need the door to be offset, but it only allows me to insert to center of wall, left edge of wall or right edge of wall.  I am trying to match the existing conditions of the rental space and this is becoming quite frustrating.  I never had this issue before and am confused as to how to correct it.

Do I need to "unstyle" it?  Too much time has been spent trying to resolve this. Hopefully someone has a quick fix.

Yes please, if you manage it!

I had to write myself fairly extensive instructions to understand & use wall closures in VW2023 and am slightly dreading the transition to VW2024.

Some notes from another "real" user would likely be very helpful. In particular if they highlight all the points where something in the UI is unclear or inconsistent or misleading, because you can never get that from the official documentation.

I could never figure it out in 2023 and can't figure it out in 2024.  I have spent too much time already trying to get this to work. I downloaded the sample files, but still didn't make sense to me.  More than likely it is very simple, but I am old with limited brain power and need visuals to assist me.

  5. Doe anyone have a simple way to determine the number of plumbing fixtures required by IBC? I have been using a spreadsheet in the past but got a wild hair and thought I would try incorporating the Spaces in a Worksheet.

It would be simple, I think, if the Space Types Additional Data fields would allow formula. Perhaps they do, but I have not figured out how to do that.  The formula is treated like a text string.

As shown below, there are several different Occupancy Classifications, which in turn have different Plumbing Fixture requirements per IBC. This example uses my Occupancy Load Worksheet as a building block for the development of the Worksheet I am hoping to have.

    image.thumb.png.988d90f9aea18d2e1e697f5d7899d8ed.png

Plumbing Fixtures for Church Assembly is a simple formula: Water Closets for Males - 1 per150 and for Females - 1 per75.

Business is more complicate: For first 50 occupants - 1 per 25 and additional of 1 per 50 for remainder over 50.

Any assistance in providing a possible worksheet layout and cell functions is most appreciated.

  6. This is not really applicable to this discussion, but I am having much difficulty getting my site model to be seen in Twinmotion.  I have tried direct link, exporting, etc.

TM loads the file, the folders show them loaded, but there is NOTHING THERE.  Any suggestions?  Must I explode my model shown below? Grades vary from 1055' to 1074' roughly.

  7. My graphics card is fine.  Also, there is NO PROBLEM with textures in VW 2023.  Perhaps the latest update has a glitch?

@ShortnortMy best guess would be a graphics card problem. Is there an updated driver for your graphics card on your system? Were you able to edit textures before on this machine?

I have not updated my OS and  I have changed textures recently with no difficulties.  For some reason VW takes a very long time loading Cineware since I upgraded to 2024, and yes, I installed 2024 directly to this machine (which is the only one I use for VW).

I will research the graphics driver issue, but I have a program that is supposed to keep those up to date.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  11. I am having difficulties creating and modifying VW Textures.  Here is an example (but happens for ALL textures):

    Imported Metal Blue RT

Changed color then the displayed color is a jumbled mess... Clicked ok hoping it would be successful, but nope...

I have tried several textures, changing settings, etc. but to no avail... So I can not customize textures anymore.

  12. Great comments!!!  I find VW 2024 a great improvement, overall.  I am still hunting for tools, etc., but that is not my concern/issue.

Either go all in or out with the new icons.  If the icons used in 2024 were a college project, in my opinion you would fail.  The icons are not consistent in detail, color/no color, outlined/not outlined.  The icon for a building is quite clumsy looking, the 3d icon appears to be a deforming tool, etc.  Again, the icons appear a step back in time when computers were limited in pixels available - like in the Mario Brothers game (but without colors):

I wouldn't characterise VW development over the years like this by any stretch. The opposite is true I think. This was a major update and long overdue.

Personally I don't want them to wait, especially after such a major update. I want them to take on board user feedback and make refinements as soon as possible. I want VW to be easy and powerful for new users. And if that means learning an updated UI I'm happy to do it, because if it's easier for new users then it's easier for me in the long run too.

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.   I recommend that VW take a poll from USERS that depend on the software to make a living to determine if this leap of no color and 1980s icons looks is in our best interest.  Updating software is great, as I had stated previously.

UI is extremely important and should be created to allow users to quickly find and use the necessary tools.  VW2023 I found quite easy to navigate.  VW2024 is a strain on the eyes to figure out what the icon "means" and there is such a lack of consistency in icon colors.  As a compromise, why not allow the users to use the old icons and be done with it? In my opinion it is not debatable as to the readability difference in 2023 vs 2024.  Even the smaller 2023 below is easier to comprehend.

Are there going to be non monochrome options for the tool Icons? While I love the visual uniformity I know in practice the glance value of icons that are all the same color is troublesome and can increase time finding the correct tool.

I agree completely!!!   Being a self employed actual user of VW, I find it quite troubling that VW, for some reason, keeps messing with UI layouts.  Every year we are required to re-learn different aspects of the UI.

The new monochrome icons are quite troubling to me.  It is very difficult to differentiate the icons, which in turn means slower output in production. The overall appearance of the new UI seems to be that the developers ran out of time and just stopped where they were in developing icons, etc.

Additionally, the new icons seem to be a step BACK in history to the Mario Brothers gaming era.  Many of the new icons are very difficult to interpret.  The VW2023 UI updates were great and why the time and effort to fix something that wasn't broken seems a bit counter-productive.  The supposed 3-D icons are quite bulky and cartoonish.  VW should try to emphasize modern, sleek, professional UI.

The new software, however, is fantastic!!!  I have had no bugs or difficulties so far.  The upgrade was quite seamless, quick (which I have been quite apprehensive about in past updates).

I want to thank VW for continually updating and improving this tremendous software program.  But please focus on the big picture and settle on a layout and format that can last for at least 2 years. We users must focus on production speed and accuracy.

  15. Okay - I have resolved this...

Most of my annotations in wall sections is done of the none class.  So I drew a line in the none class.  AHHH - there was an arrow at the end of the line.

So, I removed the arrow and then refreshed the wall section...  Voila - the arrows disappeared.

In my opinion this is a bug since I did not do anything out of the ordinary - I just inserted a line with an arrow in one instance in my details...
