  1. Hi All Our company uses Vectorworks for kitchen and cabinet design. We use Interiorcad within this. I'm trying to setup Vectorworks to produce everything we need from pricing all the way through to production. As such I am trying to setup an appliance database, accessing relevant appliance symbols through the resource manager, which have record formats attached with relevant information i.e. model no. main specs, price etc. Idea being to add this into our pricing and other relevant documents. I have setup an excel file as an odbc data source, so that prices etc can be updated. When attaching the record directly to the symbol it will show up in a report produced, so it's attached fine, however.. details don't show up in the data pane in the resource manager. If I edit the symbol, deselect everything, and then attach a record, the reverse happens, the field titles will show up in the data pane in the resource manager, but I am unable to select Object Database Connection to link the record to one of the database entries. The idea is that the designer should be able to go into the resource manager, and at a glance see the relevant fields of each model to choose the appliance. Bonus question - One of the reports i want to produce is a list of the appliances for the fitters / workshop. Ideally I'd like to have QR codes for each appliance which can be scanned and open up the relevant fitting manual. Producing the QR code is not an issue, adding it to the excel database isn't the issue, but getting vectorworks to reproduce it on a worksheet is where I'm getting stuck, i.e. linking it to the database image, rather than automatically using the symbol image. Thanks in advance Nathan Davies
  2. Hi All, I've just started to peep into the rabbit hole that is marionette. Not sure it is the correct option, but don't think I am up to starting to learn Vectorscript. I use Vectorworks and Interiorcad for cabinet design. Interiorcad has a very basic plan view which is pretty much just single boxes. Our customer facing designer has for a long time been purely working in 2d, but I'm trying to encourage her down the 3d and Interiorcad path. She is used to having basic but self explanatory plan views, which customers can easily understand. She has always cut and pasted previous plan views, and streched or shrunk to the required size. So... I wanted to try and speed things up for her, and try a marionette solution (don't even know if it is the correct path for such a thing) I've attached the file with the marionette in, it does the job i want of it (i.e. produce plan view of drawers that change with the width and depth input) but I can't help feeling that there must be a much more streamlined way of doing what i've done. If anyone is able to give it a look over and give me some general pointers it would be much appreciated. As i say I'm new to this and feel like a caveman at the computer, doing repetitive tasks, rather than perhaps thinking about it in a better way. The final Marionette will only have width and depth inputs, i just had the others labelled so i could see what i was doing. Thanks in advance. Nathan 2D DRAWER PLAN VIEW.vwx
  3. If a cabinet has more than one shelf, it isn't numbered with the same cabinet number, but adds one. I can see why you might want to differentiate between possibly different size shelves within one cabinet, but it would be good if it had the correct cabinet number on it and then a seperate identifier for the particular shelf within that cabinet. Is it possible to at least have the correct cabinet number on there for identification and labelling?
  4. Has the Hafele catalogue been removed from the resources in Vectorworks with the latest update? Handles etc. I've got Interiorcad installed, might they have come with that and been removed with the update?
  5. Hi Sometimes when we make drawers instead of using 15mm/16mm we like to use something thicker e.g.18mm plywood, either to match our cabinets or for strength purposes. Today I've tried to create my own drawer box through the master data, but am having problems getting it to work in the way i want. Using Blum Movento runners we have to put in a 2mm x 15mm rebate on the bottom inside edges of the sides, is there a way of doing this in Interiorcad? Our front and back are then inline with the top edge of the rebate, i.e. 15mm shorter than the sides (with the top inline), again I can't see how to do this. As a side note is it possible to show drawers and doors open to show the contents of the cabinet? Thanks in advance Nathan
