    Text file instead of Quicktime

    Working on a Solar Animation. Got one right, but then all others come out as TEXT files instead of a movie! When you set up animation and click save option it goes to ".txt" by default, only other option is "all files".

    What's going on? Any tips. Also, any recommendations on "best" compression option (video, mpeg 4...)

    Wall Components/Classes

    YES! and then you could turn off finish components for wall in Structural plans!

    Otherwise I always end up using "non-component" also I can draw wall ONCE, and correct if necessary ONCE... problem is that I have to live with an inaccurate thicknesses (have to choose to be too thin in architectural plans, or too thick in structural...)

    Out of Memory...How come?!

    VW 12.0.1 / XP / 3 GB RAM / 2 core Athlon FX60

    Updating VP and getting "one or more operations aborted because of lack of memory". Sheet DPI set at 350, VP is about 12" x 24", Final Quality (recusrsion 2). Why is VW running out of memory?! Do I need to adjust a setting in Windows?

    Pls advise.

    So I've updated to a super setup: XP Pro / dual chore AMD Athlon 64FX, 3G RAM, etc, etc... rendering times are down, but I'm getting some strange things happening...

    my 'Custom Quality RW" (set to Medium Qty) are showing some areas see thru (yes, the element is set to solid)and I can see the paper grid showing through. Its happened with a few elements on the drawing, and I found that if the object had a texture I could"fix" this by applying a color to it on the attributes palette (instead of plain white)... but these elements do not have a texture and I want them white!

    What kind of glitch is this? Anyone having same problem?

    VW 12.01 / WIN XP

    Need to get better rendering times (Custom Renderworks Very High setting w/ 3 recursion level/ ray tracing / transparency / anti-aliasing...)

    Willing to fork out cash since in my one-man show cannot afford to idle so long (aprox. 3 hours). With this in mind what does Vectorworks (Katie?) recommend for best results.

    Yes, but cannot asign class to different wall components.

    How do you go from a structural drawing wall (no finishes) to an architectural wall (with finishes)using the SAME wall element as VW intends us to structure the drawing (ie: one design layer from where all plans originate via VP's)???

    So I'm trying to work the way VW intends us to (drawing all plans, ie: structural & MEP,on one layer - one story bldg.), and the following wall question arises:

    How do I get the same wall to show up with architectural finishes in Arch'l plan, and w/o arch'l finishes in the structural plans? No way to assign classes to the different components...

    Aditionally, wouldn't it be great if the Force Select tool would take you from the VP directly to the Design Layer? Or to the Annotations, and / or Crop layer respectively? The existing VP interface gets a little clumsy after a while, and I find that going from VP to Design Layer requires that I pan all over the place to find the drawing... how do we avoid this? Could VW center itself automatically? These suggestions would greatly improve workflow.

    Looking forward to some feedback.

    Fonts don't plot right!!!

    VW12 / XP

    Since upgrading to VW12 I'm having font problems... my callout text, elevation benchmark PIO, drawing title PIO, come back from the plotting house in the wrong font and in a very light line weight! Other text in file plots OK.

    Plotting house DOES NOT plot directly from Vectorworks since he says it takes way too long.

    He transfers file to REPRODESK, and then plots.

    He's ALWAYS done that, but had no problems with VW11.5.

    Any suggestions on how yo solve this? My default font is Arial Narrow.
