  1. The file that I've been working on for the last 3 weeks corrupted today. I worked on it in the morning, closed the programe for lunch and when I tried to open it, it crashed VW. except one time it gave me a message saying "this file is corrupted VW wil try and retreive as much data as possible" and the VW crashed. Does any one at Nemetschek have any ideas? If I send the file to some one there will you be able to open it? Please. it's a large file, after being zipped it comes down to 24.5MB. does any one know of a hosting site where I could put it? I do have a backup but it's a week old now (about 30 hours work). So I'd much rather fix this one. Thanks in advance for any one's help Aziz

  3. The current way of setting up an animate along path by setting up different views and tweening between them is functional but clunky. I always find my animations curving off the desired line and passing through a door or wall. I know there are settings to change the amount bend on the path, but this does not always work very well. And frankly in a lot of situations that "bend" can be a bit nauseating. Would it not be possible to create a 3D polygon tracing the desired route through the drawing, which the camera could then follow. That way we'd have much greater control over the exact route of the camera. Thanks

    can't render

    I'm trying to render a model, I try to render using iether renderworks or open GL. instantly The programe behaves as if it has compleated the render, but only shows the checkered render background. When I zoom out there will reach a point of magnification where it will render correctly. But zoom back in and the same problem occurs. the problem occurs regardless of active layer or class. and regardless of which object is viewed. This only occurs in Orthogonal projection, not in perspective. The problem has appeared several times in different drawings usualy in files of more than 60MB. Once the problem effects a drawing the pattern of behaviour sticks with the drawing regardless of restarts. It occurs in VW11 and previously in VW10 Does any one have any ideas? This is annoying.   7. Hi Kevin I'm using a powerbook 1.25ghz. My renderings (at screen resolution can take up to 6 hours. I usualy take my laptop home when I finish work and I have time to make two renderings before I wake up in the morning. So basicly my powerbook is rendering for 12-14 hours at a time every night. It gets hot enough to fry eggs (but use a pan because the oil gets inside the motherboard) and I haven't had any trouble. I don't use any precautions against heat, but that's just because I've never thought of it. Good luck Aziz
  8. image props are currently represented in plan by a single line the length of the image. When placing these up against a wall or other object it can be a little tedious spacing them so that when viewed from different angles parts of the prop are not sticking into the neighbouring object. Would it be possible to change thier plan representation into a cirlce the diameter of which would correlate to the width of the image prop. This would make them easier and faster to place. Thanks

  10. I thought you'd taken another step back by taking away the "sliding glass door version 2" object. Now that I've looked in the workspace editor I see that it's still there. But when looking for other alternatives on the internet I found "WinDoor" at this URL WinDoor home page . This is the Australian distributor for VW and if you look at the web page linked above, you'll see that it's included for free in the Australian and NewZealand copies of VW. Can you not get this pakaged with all versions of VW? It's a really powerfull tool for creating hi quality doors and windows, it's much better than any thing that's included with VW.

I've asked for this before, but I'm now having to make a complex roof for a house using 'roof face's' and I'm in the annoying position of having to export my drawing into VW 10 so to be able to frame my roof. I'm feeling annoyed and there for i'm asking again. PLEASE PLEASE bring back the ability to frame roof faces. You already have the code from previous versions of VW please just put it back. I use this function all the time and it's really annoying to have to go back to previous version of the software in order to do the work I need to do. Thank you Aziz
  13. HI Robert Thanks for the advice that's fixed my first problem. Now I've got another one. I can't "send to surface". I've tried using 3D symbols (VW tree symbols various) and I've tried sending 2D and 3D polygons closed and open to the surface. Nothing moves. I just get an annoying error tone (beep) when I try to send. Do you have any more advice? I've already updated to VW 11.0.1. thanks
  14. The current tool is a little clumsy to use, only giving the ,x,y co-ordinates of one set of crossed polygons (which often prove to be inacurate). Could this comand not be updated to give a floating window with the ,x,y co-ordinates that then jumps the drawing to the right place and high lights the polygons in question. Allowing you to fix the problem before jumping on to the next set of polygons, and so on, and so forth. Yesterday I had an imported topo map with over 1100 crossed polygons. Although I've never had that many to fix before there are always a few, could you not make this command easier to use? (and faster to work through?) This would be a much appreicated addition. Thanks
  15. I have no problem making a site model in VW 11. In fact it works really well. However when I set a border around the property VW takes certain 1M seperated contours and adds 20 or 30 new contours between them titly grouped dropping down to the bottom of the hull. Does any one have any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks

  17. I've already posted this on the architect web site, but just make sure some see's it, I'll put it here as well. I've recently been able to start using Vectorworks 11(A). As impressed as I am with many of the new features (and I am impressed) I'm rather dissapointed that you've removed some very basic features. Why am I now unable to frame 'roof faces'? I'm working in Thailand on houses in a malay style. Typicaly these have roofs with at least 2 different angles between the edge of the roof and the center (giving the impression of a little hat sitting on top). And a compleatly open structure from below. 90% of the roofs that I make are made using the 'roof face' comand. and I now have to frame them all individualy. You don't need to update the new frame command (although it would be nice) The frame command in VW 10 is sufficient can you please bring it back in an update? You'll be saving me hours (if not days) of work. Please

  25. Sorry I've looked at the improvments for VW11 and see that there are already new import options. However I'd still like to know if of any sites to download .IGES files?
