Hello, is this job vacancy still open?

  2. Hello community, I'm sorry to post this here, but I found no University Forum on VW Forums.

So I did did a couple of VW University courses, but for some reason it keeps appearing as incomplete and due to this I cannot receive the correspondent certificate.

Can someone help me on this?

By the way I haven't heard about fluevogs before. Now I see 😂

Don't mind it was just a sketch. The shapes need to be simplified. The glass surface needs to me reduced too. Nevertheless it will have a main entrance in the store front, and a service entrance on the further back, on the right side.

I like that your client, a Pharmacist, can afford to develop a quality building, and supports good Architecture. Good work.

    Here attached a pharmacy in my home town for comparison;

Thanks for your comment. The main goal is to have a building that doesn't need much "pharmacist advertisement" and at the same time, abusing the contemporary architecture technologies (as much as legally possible) to be a reference in the pharmacy field. All this will have a positive impact in the company's revenue. The vision its not how much will it cost, but how much will profits improve with it. A businessman (in this case a businesswoman) will be always different, when compared, to a boss 😊

coming from a window washing/maintenance background...I aways ask myself "how am I going to wash those windows or fix that?"  Sorry...

Thanks for your feedback, that's something the customer doesn't care about and is willing to pay for it.

I’ve done these in the past by drawing my conventional wall the greenwall  attach to and then add a modeled object representing the selected  greenwall system.  Vectorworks has a few in the library that may work well or at least present the methodology for displaying the plants.  A decal works well to depict the plants.

several manufactures provide models for their systems which may be helpful.  I recommend importing those into a separate vectorworks file and adjusting/cleaning them up prior to using in your building model to prevent gremlins arising.

Thanks for your reply, but I couldn't find any Greenwall systems in VW Library, can you show me where are they?

  8. Dear community, I would like to know if there is any way I could do a Green Wall?

I've tried (with no success) applying a texture, but the result is far from what I want.

I've tried do create a grass texture, but when applied, it just appears to be flat green...

I don't know if I could use the curtain wall or if I should do it on other way.

    I've attached the file.

    Regards.

@_leorus Video tutorials currently are not part of the sample projects. You can see in the description that some of them link to a training or webinar session for additional information. I will bring your question to our team to keep improving the content in the University.

    Thank you very much

Use the Analysis Tool in the second mode to generate a Normal Curve for each Plane. Then connect the two resultant curves and use the angle dimension tool.

I think that the angle you are looking for is currently 49.61°

Tried the same and gave me 40,39º, sure I did something wrong. 😄

Checking 'Merge with Structural Objects in Sections' in the OIP for a 3D object means that when you place that object next to a Wall or Slab or Roof + you select 'Merge Cross Sections' or 'Merge Structural Objects with Same Fill' in the Advanced Section Properties the 3D object will merge with the Wall/Slab/etc so that they look like a single object in section

I like your annotations layout, how have you done it?

Ah, OK.  I didn't have a chance to try in SP2 but the steps I mentioned may work there as well.  Certainly give it a shot.  🙂

    Your steps worked just fine.

These are some renders (my very first ones). Don't know how to manage the lights, nor the "outside" view from windows yet, but are good enough to understand the space.

    Hi @_leorus,

    Thanks for the screenshots.

I did manage to open your file this morning.  This helped a lot because the Style of Doors having the issue was in a weird state.  This was easily corrected but also exposed another known issue which can also be felt with.

How I corrected the two issues:

    1. The Use wall closures option in the Plug-in Object Style Options dialog showed selected but did not seem to take.  I corrected this by deselecting and selecting it again.
    2. This helped but exposed a known bug related to wall end caps.  Recreating the end cap in a different way can help workaround that issue.

    See video:

In Portugal there isn't the sp3 yet. But I will try it. Love you! 😅

    @_leorus,

Can you post a screenshot of what you have and what you're trying to achieve?

    @Tom W.,

Feel free to attach or PM me the file and I'll have a look.

Hi Matt, thank for your reply.

Here goes a few screen shots, that are helpful.

Door and wall are exactly the same on the successful and on the unsuccessful wall closures.

Apparently all the VW options are correct.

    Kind regards.

One thing to always check—and which is a little hidden away—is the Plug-in Object Options (right-click on object in Object Info Palette)

Can't open your file because student files can't be opened with professional licence.

I've check it already and it's correct. I strongly believe that this is a bug, because it worked previously with the same elements in the same file.

  16. Hello community, I'm doing my first "project" with VW, It's a small office.

I've created a new style of door and with the interior walls, sometimes the wall closure tool works, sometimes it doesn't. I wonder why because all the wall and door preferences are the same and I've tried with simple geometry wall (even on a different file) and it still doesn't work.

What can I be doing wrong?

The file is attached, for a quicker understanding.

    Kind regards!

@Tom W. Based upon your requests above, I can respond generally. Hard to list every aspect of my workflow.

You may be sorry you asked 🙂

Remember, this is just my approach and others will definitely have theirs -)

Note my comments and screenshots below attempting to touch upon your inquiries.

** Screenshots are very low resolution, sorry, but this is about intent and not especially about fabulous renderings :-). Just used Opel GL.

I used a flat roofed example for my comments.

    - I 3d model  about everything reasonable.

Here is a basic 3d Model.

    1447483157_SITEMODEL.thumb.jpg.b74cae9c7df984b9de4a96682aaa8888.jpg

Notice I even created individual mission style barrel tiles for the roofing. Probably a bit much for most here 🙂 I have two versions for the 3d Mission Tiles....one, as I used on this residence, is the down & dirty simpler methodology. From 6 feet away you would not really notice the difference as opposed to using the 'real deal' individual Roof Tiles.

Sounds scary but It wasn't too arduous. Just created a 3d symbol for one of the roof tiles, then used

the 'surface array' option to apply to each roof face.  I imagine this would seem like madness to take the time to model

roof tiles, but the implied Spanish barrel roof tile texture included in VW resources are just too flat looking for my taste. They need a bit more dimension. Again, the 3d roof tiles will show up in the sections....sort of hard to fake those tiles on an angled wall in the annotations.  Just easier to make them in 3d. I also 3d modeled the rafter tails.

    291697189_BARRELROOFINGTILES.thumb.jpg.19690fd97e0cfc23fb18def19fcd7eed.jpg

Items I do not usually, (though sometimes), 3d model:

*Foundation Elements ( These I do annotate in the Sections)

    * Structural parts of a wall interiors, like 2x studs, metal studs, etc.

    Items I do 3d model:

    * I Always try to create a 3d Site Model, usually acquired  from a .dwg file data from a surveyor.

*Hardscape items, like slabs, walkways, etc.

*All interior items, like countertops, cabinetry, kitchen stuff, etc.

    * Floor Framing and Roof framing members.  I do not normally just use an overall 'slab' thickness.  Meaning

I create the actual joists, subfloor, sheetrock, and roof rafters, etc in 3d. The main reason for this is that they will all show up in the Sections,

as opposed having to annotate the bejesus out of the Sections to show all of these individual members.

Here is a typical Section from this Project:  Note the pesky roof tiles grayed beyond the section cut 🙂

    1469905334_A-9-SectionEXAMPLE.thumb.JPG.35c2997406b29bed7764dccfb6069a6b.JPG

This may not have addressed all you had asked about, but it does put a dent in it 🙂

Please, can someone (specially the author) do some tutorial on how to make these roofs, with a proper roof tile and structure?
