  1. Indeed ...not possible to write to the CD . Copy those files to your Application directory and start over.
  2. DTM>2D Flow Arrows utilize the equal distance between the 2D contours... hence there's no need for magnitude just the average direction of the flow. Therefore, to show magnitude the arrow vectors would need to be in 3D space. Then, when viewed from above the shorter the arrow the steeper the slope... which is exactly what the contours display ... narrower distance between contours = steeper slope. 3D arrows can be generated from 3D sections via annotations of the slope. IMHO...in normal practice a fully 3D vectorized contour map is not required.
  3. Which version are you using ? Recent versions offer control of opacity for Layers & Classes.
  4. In OIP> " Draw Top Tread" = checked ?
  5. Me to .. since v11 at least ... odd behaviour ... one day all is swell... next session = chaos. Never have discovered causality... appears to be a random nuisance with a few hybrid symbols or something.

  7. Good wish ... allowing that Rendering processes create static pixel arrays whereas DTM processes manipulate dynamic classed symbolic objects ; )
  8. We've all experienced similar issues over the years ... when VW crashes it is trying to tell us something important about the structure of the file. Stop ... what you are doing .. do not get angry ... do not play the blame game ...take a break. Think about it ... losing your hard work sucks .. but so does a corrupted file. Back-tracking has its benefits... and... of course... follow Christiaan's sage advise : )
  9. Tami ~~ over the years there've been numerous postings covering this specific topic. Try Searching these forums ... i think that you'll be surprised at the different solutions...
  10. Site Sections are used to display static cross-sections and utilized to calculate the essential cut & fill data.
  11. Try>Duplicate >Acad Layer > then re-name it, re-scale, as req'd.
  12. Oh come-on ... there must be a few die-hard Users out there who still work on old 10" monitors : ) Why this basic GUI issue remains stuck on duh is anybody's guess. Me thinks it has to do with the attributes of the attitudes.

  14. Right ... crashes only happen on Mac.
  15. Enjoyed reviewing your website. You guys are hot : ) With VW you can easily add some eye-catching examples of plans, details, elevations, sections, and 3D renderings. Even include fly-overs with animations of your design work morphing from concept into reality. Regardless of which CAD app. you settle on. Your skill and construction expertise will continue to out class them all. Keep up the good work.
  16. As you know the initial starting conditions will determine your level(s) of success. With VW you can easily set-up Templates with Libraries for each of your job categories and clients. Then you can utilize the Templates to facilitate your daily production. The example workflows ( #1-#4 ) are standard accomplishments with VW. Over many years I have participated in numerous projects with similar eclectic demands. Additionally, the knowledge base entangled with these Forums provides Users with hands-on dynamic CAD resource support.
  17. Try creating a New Record and attaching it to the Windows. Then you can assign one of the 4 fields (North, South, East, West) to each instance. The worksheet would reference the Record and list the Field.
  18. Are you sure that your old program isn't , in fact, MiniCad 3 ... it installed from floppies ?

  21. Basically, what is required is a port socket to allow URL access to Google Maps / Earth, GIS, et al. Recently I set-up a Filemaker10 property database that not only ports to Google Maps, but to all the county GIS, Tax maps, Tax documents, and my server files. Each Property has the location map via Google, the Aerial Image & Parcel Boundary via GIS , the Tax Parcels Zoning map, Tax Info, and links to CAD files. All the info & images can be imported into VW via scripts. Not ideal but doable. See example:
  22. Perhaps you have a Resource Name conflict somewhere along the line.
  23. Wow .. that's splendid technology from Dassault ... they always make everything look so darned easy ... meanwhile ...the real world is awash in under utilized crappy inefficient multi-story structures ... just like the one they made ! now we can design more of it .. faster & easier than ever before ... I'm still waiting to see how they can apply that 'whiz-bang mass modeling' to the real world re-models in the historical district. That video reminds me of Design Class .. only then we made everything from foam board cut-outs ... back then the windows did not grow with the walls. Basically, I'm very skeptical & bored with the promotional advantages of drag & drop design. I think VectorWorks has got it just about right ... start with the basics and build it step by step. Then generate & publish your world class plans from the precision VW data.

  25. Plans-Elevations-Sections are keyed via the Columns Grid. For example, each column line ( wall or foundation ) has an associated gridline. Individual structural elements can then be designated via their grid coordinates. Additionally, the Elevations & Sections require Z heights keyed via the Elevation Benchmark. This establishes the above & below grade elements and floor elevations. Typical Metal Stair Shopdrawing
