  1. This is probably possible. Can you post a sample file with a few of the symbols and your current worksheet so I don't have to mock something up?
  2. You may be able to do something similar using Data Visualization, but the class overrides are Viewport specific. The only other option on Design Layers would be to edit the class to do what you want and then edit it back when you are done. But that might be much faster than learning about Data Visualization.
  3. Selectthe Wall Join tool (4th from left on the top row). Then from the Mode bar select Tee, El, or Cross modes.
  4. With the VP selected, click the Classes button in the OIP. Select the class you want to view differently and click the Edit button. Set the Class Override settings to what you want to see in that viewport. This will only effect objects that have the Attributes set to By Class.
  5. Are you on a Mac or a PC? I don't know step by step how to do this on Windows, but on a Mac: Quit VW. Go to System Preferences: Users and Groups. Create a new user account. Log into the new account and launch VW. See if you can create a viewport. If you can it is likely that your User Folder is corrupted. If you can't then the VW application is corrupted and you should delete and reinstall VW. If it is User Folder ask again and we can try and talk you though resetting or recreating.
  6. It is also possible the RM got moved off of the current screen. Disconnect all but one monitor. Set the resolution of that monitor to something very low, 640x480 or 1024x768. Then set it back up. When set the lower resolution all windows will be forced back into the viewable area. You will have to reset all of your window positions, but it may bring the RM back.
  7. It won't be buttons at the bottom, but you can open the Saved Views in a script palette. Then they will always be open and just take a double click. Windows menu. Look for Script Palettes at the bottom of the file and click on Saved Views to put a check mark next to it. Unfortunately it will be a floating palette and can't be docked. I do like you idea, just wanted to let you know what you can do that is kind of close right now.
  8. Simplest way to start: Go to Tools menu: Workspaces. At the bottom is a list of all the installed workspaces. The one with the check mark next to it is the one you are currently using. Tell us the name of that workspace. Click on one of the other workspaces (I recommend Fundamental if that is not what you are currently using). Try and create a viewport using the new workspace. If it works, then you have a corrupted workspace. Depending on which workspace it is, we can suggest next steps.
  9. Hi Jerry, There appears to be some kind of corruption in the wall. I see the same thing you do. The door at the bottom left is not inserted in the wall. When I insert it, all of the windows disappear. I am going to suggest that you make good backup copies, delete the wall and recreate it and cross your fingers. If you see any future funkiness in the file you are probably going to want to do an export and import into a new file or a layer by layer copy into a new file. Good luck.
  10. Sheet layers are always at 1:1 scale. If you want to draw on a sheet layer and have it at a different scale you want to draw in the Annotations group of a viewport. You probably want to put your fixtures on the Design Layer in either a different Layer or Class so you can control the visibility instead of putting them directly on the sheet layer.
  11. Can you post or privately share the file?
  12. @Tamsin Slatter can you help with Susanna's question on plant categories?
  13. Tools:Plug-ins:Plug-in Manager Custom Plug-ins pane. New. Command. Edit Script... button. Paste the script from above. Edit workspace to add the new command and assign a keyboard shortcut. HTH
  14. You can start with the reformatted report. In the Worksheet View menu make sure that Database Headers is checked. This should give you the row that shows the formulas rather than the data. It will be (eg) 3, not 3.1, 3.2, etc. Right Click in the Row Header (on the 3) and choose Edit Report. From there click the Advanced Criteria button in the top section and you should be able to do what you need. If this is something you will do all the time you might want to save it in a Template or Favorite file, or even add it to the Default Content so it will show up as a preformatted report. Ask again if you need more help.
  15. I just tried this in VW2021 SP2 and I did not lose the record. It did not matter which order I did the compose in. If both objects have a record attached, then the record from the object lower in the stacking order (object in the back) seems to control the record the composed object has. I could not get it to attach both records.
  16. You will need to edit the Report Criteria to either explicitly list the layers you want to count, or to explicitly exclude the layers you don't want counted. You might also be able to use a Visibility criteria instead, but then your counts could change based on other visibility changes.
  17. If you only need the shape then extrude along path is great. I usually need to keep everything as separate parts so I can do cut lists and take offs, so I am back to some form of trimming. Unless anyone has a better idea?
  18. Are you using a custom workspace that has been brought forward from a previous version of VW? It sounds like when you are selecting Create Viewport from the menu you are actually getting the Create Detail Viewport command. That sounds like a corrupted workspace. Please try one of the standard workspaces or a different standard workspace.
  19. There is something very weird in the file you posted. I have the same problem you described that the poly can't be split, but that a duplicate moved to a different location can. VW2021SP2 Where did the geometry originate? Was this brought forward from a previous version of VW or imported from another program? My best suggestion(s) are to: 1) Send the file to tech support and see if they can identify the problem. 2) Redraw the objects in a new file. Sorry.
  20. Can you post a screenshot? I am having a hard time understanding what you are seeing.
  21. If you can get an orthogonal view of the intersection you can probably use the Trim or Split tools to make the cuts. I have done similar things with pipes before and have not found a way I am really happy with. Making changes afterwards is always a pain.
  22. Do you have Class Options set to Grey Others by any chance?
  23. Curtain wall? Or a single window and use the Custom Symbol option? I should probably be quiet and let the architects who actually do this answer instead. ;-)
  24. It is likely that the units in the DWG are not cm. Can you measure something and see how much it is off? 10 would suggest mm, 100 would suggest meters, 2.54 would suggest inches, 30.48 would suggest feet. Or it could be the inverse of those values. HTH
  25. Yes, you can just delete the files. If you are on Mac, that is the way. On Windows there was not an uninstaller until recently (I think maybe 2020).
