  1. Your issue might be related to this topic : If you export via Publish, mind the Options button, and set the right dpi settings ("Convert Pdf To Image" and "File Size Reduction").
  2. I had the same issue and figured out it was a scale/dpi ratio issue. See bellow : scale 1:200 / 300 dpi --> ok TILE 200 300dpi.pdf scale 1:200 / 1200 dpi --> ok TILE 200 1200dpi.pdf scale 1:500 / 300 dpi --> solid grey TILE 500 300dpi.pdf scale 1:500 / 1200 dpi --> ok TILE 500 1200dpi.pdf Mind these settings : - Layout raster setting - File>Print raster setting - File>Export To Pdf "Convert Pdf To Image" and "File Size Reduction" settings
  3. Bumping this. I don't have the feeling it is fixed in VW2021 but I might be wrong... Would be indeed very nice if VW could render the VPs on the cloud during the night for instance. What would be also nice is being able to choose which layouts to be rendered and exported to PDF.
  4. Thank you for your input, @zoomer. I have never tried the master-file-way to do it. I will give it a shot.
  5. 2021, we still cannot make it and it would still be interesting 🙂
  6. You are right, it is good to have several ways of using a tool. So you would say that complex linetypes work as they should ? Would you confirm that for each new fill color, you need to duplicate the complex linetype ? By the way, it also means you cannot override its fill attributes in a viewport.
  7. In my opinion, it shouldn't work like that. A complex linetype is a linetype and it should work as a basic linetype. The pen attribute controls the color of a basic linetype. The pen attributes should also control the color of a complex linetype (fill+pen). I cannot see a good reason why it shouldn't work like that. You never use more than one color anyway for a complex linetype. As a workaround I filled my complex linetype with lines... Not sure if it's a brillant idea tho 🙂 Step 1 : Add lines in your custom complex linetype. Step 2 : Make it thicker Step 3 : Profit...
  8. Hello, I have created my own complex linetype with some polygons. These polygons have a fill color and a pen color. Then, when I use my new complex linetype in the design space with Polyline for instance, I can only change the pen color and the line thickness but not the fill color of the polygons that I used to create my custom complex linetype. This means I need to duplicate my linetype for each new fill color I need ? Is that the normal behavior ? Is there a trick to be able to change the fill color as well ? Creating my complex linetype : Drawing a Polyline with my new complex linetype (as you can see I was able to edit pen color but not fill color as I would like to) :
  9. Exactly. Several viewports yes, but look, I want to do architecture, not viewports management 🙂 Things should be simple and efficient. Actually I don't like to spend time on drawings. The less time I spend on drawing things the happier I am. Thats why I moved to BIM. And before that, to CAD. I have to say, I don't know how I would deal with old buildings renovation. No clue. I would probably keep it simple and do things in 2D. Not worth it to model everything in 3D. The 3D information exist already.
  10. Thank you for your inputs @line-weight. I cannot use horizontal sections since I have several buildings on a slope. Also, I think horizontal sections are more difficult to handle, in order to get proper – graphically speaking – plans. This being said, I might not have tried hard enough to make this work.
  11. Exactly. It is actually possible but as far as I know only in the design space. Hence actually my question, if it is possible to do it in the layout space by overriding the setting which is greyed out – I don't know why... Look at the screenshots below, taken from the design space, so it's not exactly what I want. I just want to unlock the greyed out setting Enable Cut Plan at Layer Elevation in the layers override... It is so closed of being a super useful setting ! Also, I am aware of horizontal sections, but as you said, they have their own issues. In my case, I cannot use them on this specific project. ^
  12. Hello, In a 2D plan Viewport, 2 layers are activated : Ground floor and Basement. For some reason, I would like to override the cut plan elevation of my Basement in order that only my Ground floor would be drawn as cut. The Basement would be drawn as seen from top / non-cut. Problem : This option is greyed out in my Layers overrides window. The general idea is that I would like to see on my Groundfloor plan informations from my Basement plan but seen as if the cut plan would be on my Groundfloor (actually like any proper plan). Please, see the screenshot below to see exactly what I mean...
  13. @Christiaan, I had exactly the same question 9 years later, thank you for having asked it, and thank you @Dieter @ DWorks for the answers, as always. Both of you, help me a lot, more than you think.
  14. Is your issue related to this one maybe ? :
  15. Please, find bellow a drawing showing my 3 buildings to illustrate my post. 1. What I observed - It is not possible to have 2 stories at the same level (for instance A0 and B0 on the same level) - It is really annoying (and I'm trying to stay polite here) to set these stories one bye one when you have 12 buildings, 50 stories, 70 layers. In one window they are listed by name, in another by level; I had to print my layers manager and highlight my stories like in the '80s to see what's happening. After approximately 801'153 clicks I got what I wanted. 2. My questions - How to set properly a file and their stories with multiple buildings in order to export it to IFC ? - Is it really mandatory to assign stories in order to export an IFC ?
  16. What would be nice, is being able to select 2 slabs and then choose Add Surface to combine them exactly like you would do it for two 2D poly... This is on my wishlist 🙂
  17. I am well aware on styles, sorry if my question was not clear enough. Let me elaborate : Different tools can give you the same kind of objects. For instance to create a door, you can generate it through the tool "Door and Window" (we give it a style named A) or through the tool "Doors" (we give it a style named B). In my case, I started a project using one tool to generate doors but then realized another tool was better. So my question is this one : Would it be possible to replace the door style A (from "Door and Window) by the door style B (from "Doors") ? Via the OIP as you suggest, it is, I believe not possible.
  18. I will have a look at it... Thank you for the tip !
  19. Hello, Scenario : I have objects A and objects B placed in a class X. I have layouts U in which class X is activated and layouts V in which class X is not activated. I realize now that it would be better to have objects A placed in class X and objects B placed in a new class Y. I want my new class Y to be activated in layouts U but unactivated in layouts V (like it was the case for class X). What I do : When I create the new class Y, I told it to be unactivated in each layout. I then manually activate it in each layout where class X was also activated. My question : Is there a more clever way to do it ? The idea would be to tell class Y to be active on layouts where class X is active.
  20. Hello, Is there a way to replace a door created by tool A by a door created by tool B ?
