  1. What is the best/most efficient way to take a Landscape Area object and turn it into a Hardscape object (and vice versa)?

The scenario is that the client keeps changing their mind regarding what they would like to be hardscape and what they'd like to be planted, so I'd like to be able to switch back and forth as easily as possible. I realize there isn't a direct "convert this into that" option, so I'm curious to know what would be the best way to go back and forth?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. +1's for:

    - Better searching (+500 for this one actually. I too use Google instead of the built-in forum search)

    - Marking posts as "solutions" or "helpful" (+499 on this, as it would make long threads FAR more useful for everyone, especially newer users.) A per-thread option of toggling between all replies and helpful/solutions would be good too, so that a questions and its answer can be viewed together.

    - Automatic abbreviation expansion (perhaps as an option in Post settings)

    - Embedding of images and videos

    - Mobile device support (of course)

    - Keyword or topic/theme tags

    - A more inviting, easier to read & digest main forum page. Perhaps a more icon based one to make targeting overall forums easier.

    Other features to consider:

    - Thinking of being able to mark posts as Solutions/Helpful... It would great to have a Post Option to mark a new topic or post as a question needing a response. Combined with that one should have the ability to only view questions questions needing responses at any forum level.

    - The ability to show forums active in the last N days/weeks/months right up to the top level of all forums. Currently this is only available only forum level in. (The "Active Topics" links doesn't allow the same time granularity and presents with a new, unfamiliar interface.)

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with Jim!

  3. Hi Jim & Peter,

I wanted to connect the dots here to make sure you, Jim, have Peter's files.

I buglisted the issue and two large sample files last Tuesday, November 10 at 5pm. The file number is: VB-128895

The performance slowdown of the strictly 2D files from v2013 to v2016 (and 2014 & 2015 along the way) is perplexing indeed.

Thanks for your help with this Jim!

  4. Hello all - if there are specific nodes that people are having trouble using or certain types of definitions people are looking to make, we could use suggestions for the next tutorial. Topics could be, for example: 3D/Solid geometry, referencing and searching documents, an in-depth look at the Data Flow nodes, etc. Feel free to let us know what you want more of!

Sarah, you read my mind... I would LOVE an in depth look at the Data Flow nodes. While I have been able to decipher many of the other nodes I have attempted to use, I'm not quite sure what to do with the Data Flow collection. (Even just knowing what a "list" is right off the bat would shed some light on this.)

    Many thanks in advance,

    -Neil

  5. Jim, those tutorials are great! They're a superb series for gradually building up basic skills with Marionette and also for showing the power & versatility of the new feature. I've already binge-watched and rewatched them!

I can hardly wait for Season 2!

    Thank you!

  6. I'm delving into using the "show tag in 3D" option for windows and doors and am wondering how to have the tags appear in the most "crisp" way in a rendered viewport.

The viewports (which are essentially elevations) are set to render as:

background - RW Realistic Colors White

foreground - Hidden line (w/ Surface hatches)

So far I can get the tags to look more sharp by setting the sheet layer's DPI at 300, but the VP's obviously take longer to render and the resolution is actually overkill for the building itself.

Is this method the only way to get sharp looking tags, or is there another technique that I should know about?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Neil
