We have been developing 3d Concrete Printing robotics, nozzles, materials and architecture for some time now. We have used Vectorworks effectively to design the machines and parts, as well as the buildings. Now we are trying to standardize some of the design process so others can use the tech; we would like to be able to use a tool like the parametric cabinet tool to quickly trace a conventional floor plan, and have an array of standard printed extruded wall segments follow the path as opposed to cabinets [in this case]. Anyone? Dr. William C. "Cory" Foulk

It doesn't matter how long you have been doing this, there is always a 101 thing to learn. Importing into a fresh file to ditch the 400 zillion Autodesk layers is so simple! Thank you Pat!

Also the 3d pallet crashes the app, and the mirror tool suddenly is using a different working plane. i used this file in 2024 all week, no issues. Now - of course it is time to deliver the work - and there are all of these working plane issues. Dr. William C. My window tags are double and one is backwards in the floor plan viewport. Always a ug somehow it seems with VW. Any ideas? Doc Supermicro dual Xeon 48 core / 1TB DDR on the MB, Titan 24GB Nvidia GPU; VW2024 Win10

The layer I try and check will not check. It highlights then - nothing. This service pack for VW 2023 is so buggy it is nearly unusable. The windows don't cut the walls, the framer won't allow a layer to be chosen, on and on. I have over 30 years with VW and MiniCAD and have never seen a more worthless edition. VW 8 was far better than this for goodness sakes - like 25 years ago. Doc Using my Dell Laptop today, i7 8 core, 128GB DDR, Nvidia RTX 3090; VW2023 SP6

My laptop uses an i7, and here is a performance monitor screenshot of VW2023 rendering on 16 cores. The single speed thinking is a flat earth idea in todays processing world (IMHO). My 48 core dual Xeon workstation makes quick work of most of the modelling I do; I can't imagine using a single core with todays computer architecture and VW's Parasolid Kernal. All of that is nifty and more than most of our clients can deal with. We just export VW to fbx, then open it in Microsoft's free 3D viewer and save it. Email them the file and they can open it on any laptop, desktop or phone and fly through it or around it. We also open it in Hololens 2 on site or in a restaurant, and they can also fly through it using 3d viewer in Hololens. Paint 3D also will open it. Again, freewares bundled in normal computers and phones, no need to enter a pile of personal data, download and install and so on. Yes. You work a problem evenings for a week then a month later find it solved in (6) year old post. It makes me wonder what stratosphere theses guys are in TODAY. -
Architectural Design/Draftsman Seeking Freelance Work
drfoulk@gmail.com replied to MNewland's topic in Job Board
Hi Newland - We need VW BIM work all the time. Large and small. We are a pretty automated firm, and use a lot of tech to leverage not many people. We have been with VW since MiniCad 2, so about 35 years now. We are writing marionette scripts and if you have experience there it would be great. We also are MR devlopers for Microsoft, and use the Hololens 2. We do a lot of residential, subdivisions, and small (25,000 SF ) commercial and condo (200 units) stuff. Get in touch with a rate and availability if you can pitch in and help. Cory Dr. William C. "Cory" Foulk, Phd, JD, AIA -

Hi James. We are working on a Hololens Studio 2.0 as MR Developers for MS. We use Vectorworks, and are looking for someone who does basic architecture using Marionette to edit and build on a CD creating script for residential. Do you have Marionette experience? Let us know, Cory Dr. William C. "Cory" Foulk, Phd, JD, AIA -

Clip Cube the lowers away, then view from bottom, create horizontal section. render extents infinite. I use cartoon. THen flip the viewport on the sheet layer. You need to get lighting on there to make it work right. Turn off the sky. Doc Dual Xeon 24 core w/ 1 TB DIMM on the MB, Supermicro MB, Titan 24GB Star Wars edition. How do you get the dark background on your pallets? I have windows 10. Is it possible? I use high def black as my OS background, and cannot read any of the VW pull outs in high-def black. It is okay, been using VW since MiniCad days so I know what pulls out, but it would be nice to have an actual dark background workspace.

Unbelievably helpful. That is a lot of heavy lifting to sort out the directory nuances. Thank you! I was just preparing to try and use PyCharm for debugging after tearing my hair out on a script. This prevented tearing my hair out on - the debugging!

Marionette Script runs differently if it's a wrapper or not
drfoulk@gmail.com replied to Xavi1's topic in Marionette
Can you wrap a network inside a wrapper to create a hierarchy of operations, or??? -
I have a whole building design tree in place in Marionette, and it runs in a document template that produces a set of working drawings. I am trying to somehow link the roof framing (and later wall framing) tools to the Marionette tree, so one click will generate the framing sheets, too.
