I don't believe this does the required hyperlinking. It will generate a default sheet list, but I don't see a way to make the sheet list hyperlinked to sheets for faster navigation in PDF. There may be a way with scripts, but I don't have it worked out. I'd love to be proven wrong

Here is an example of why I find the 2D polygon tool so frustrating. This is a simple drawing, with one partial section, on a sheet layer. The 2D polygon tool is useless on this section view. - Neither paint bucket mode nor lasso mode delivers anything useful Am I using the tool wrong? VW26 Up2 Win11, Detail.vwx

it is working for me using these settings: DXF comes is as 2D data on one deign layer: Can you upload a file? Bart

I was having a different issue with project files. Support had me rename the Database folder in the VW Cloud App to try to purge some conflicts. It may be that the metadata they get comes from the Cloud App being able to see projects on the VW Cloud Server, project files on 3rd party servers might not share the same data.

You haven't really told us what you find slow about your workflow. is it file opening, rotating/panning 3D views, rendering, printing, etc? I see you design furniture, how big are your files? You do some rendering, what is it you are looking for in rendering speed improvements? Your machine is more than capable, maybe it is the way you are working? I work on a desktop that is about half of the processing power you have and a laptop that is below that, and I find VW pretty responsive. No matter what hardware you have, rendering in computationally expensive, and you can make VERY expansive with some inadvertant settings, Tell us, specifically, what is slowing you down, and maybe we can help. I agree with @Kevin Allen , you would need some time in an image editor to make this look really good tiled. However, here is a version with a 10.5x10 repeating pattern that works reasonably well. I'll include the VW file and my PS file for you to play with. ( VW 2025 ) Tile_02.zip

I wonder if this is current: https://support.maxon.net/hc/en-us/articles/18782780285852-Redshift-Doesn-t-Recognize-my-5000-series-GPU-Experimental-Support-for-NVIDIA-Blackwell-GPUs @Dave DonleyWhat version of Redshift is in VW 2025 and VW 2026??

Here is another file. I guess I am having a slow day. I used the Wall Hole technique to build a second wall The I built a symbol to modify the wall - See the wall Style and 3D symbol. Drag the Symbol onto the wall (make sure the symbol insert is on Wall-Right Edge) and it will remove material from the outer wall components to make it look like slats. Sheet 1 renders the original wall -with displacement mapping Sheet 2 renders the new wall with 3D modeled parts - no displacement mapping) ( see Jonathan pickup's video ) Wood Slats.vwx

It really depends on your use case. if it is a close up view, probably better to model it. And, these are really simple shapes so they shouldn't slow down your shaded view working mode. there are several ways to model the slats to get an efficient pattern( the Wall Hole cutter mentioned above. Duplicate along path, etc. if it the slats are in the background, or you have thousands of slats, the displacement map might give better performance.

I think you are looking for Displacement mapping. Here is a small sample file: To note: 2 things are required: A) a texture with w Displacement Map B) a Render mode that calculates displacement mapping In the attached file I rebuilt your slats from scratch ( the image provided is clearly from a stock photo site and has a watermark) I created the black and white displacement map in photo editing software, added it to the textures Bump shader and set to 1/4" height For the rendering, I use Custom RenderWorks and make sure that Displacement mapping is CHECKED and quality is set to HIGH. This will actually make it look like the 3D geometry changes ( note how the slats overlap the base board) If you have a lot of this it can significantly slow down your renderings Vectorworks Quirk of the day: The preview in the Edit Texture dialog has the displacement mapping reversed. So, if it looks correct in the preview, INVERT the image in the edit image dialog Wood Slats.vwx

It's not enough to just uninstall VW, you need to deactivate the license on the old computer. My understanding is that only Customer Service can do this.

Converting stl file 3d polygons into 1 full body
BartH replied to joegreeen's topic in General Discussion
What do you want to edit on the STL part? Stretching or scaling might be pretty easy. "Drilling" holes or adding mass is a very different operation. STL files, by definition, are gobs of triangular faces that define the surface of an object. However, it doesn't have mass. Modeling in VW typically creates solids. Two different modelling techniques. IF the 3D polys are manifold ("Watertight"), you should be able to Modify>Convert to Generic Solid. Depending on the source of the STL, there is a good chance it is not manifold, in which case all you can really do is convert to mesh, group, or symbol. Can you post the file? Bart -
Hey gtwose, Sorry to hear of your ongoing troubles. From your system specs (Win 11?, AMD Threadripper 9960x, and an RTX 5090 GPU), everything should be automatic to get Redshift running in VW. Sorry if this sounds redundant but here is what I would try: -double check the Windows settings to make sure "hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling " is on. -under Settings>Display>Graphics>Custom Setting for applications, make sure you are not defaulting to the integrated graphics on you r CPU -in VW Preferences>Display: make sure Use GDI+ imaging and Accelerate Graphics is ticked If all of that looks good, purge your Preferences folder (let us know if you need instructions) and restart VW Last resort: remove and reinstall VW. I don't know enough about dual-boot systems to know if that could be causing a conflict, but it seems unlikely. My best guess, without closely examining your system, is that the VW installation of Redshift isn't registering the correct GPU and is looking for a GPU integrated into the CPU, but that Threadripper 9960x does not have an integrated GPU. (My system doesn't have an integrated GPU either, so it shouldn't matter) For some reason, Redshift isn't seeing your RTX 5090. try the above steps (again, if you have already tried them a dozen times) and let us know if you have any progress. Bart
