  1. I found that bricscad is superb for generating 2d sections and floor plans from your pointcloud. You can export them aas high resolution images back into vectorworks.
  2. @AlanW@Tom W.Thank you. My initial question was the result of a bug I think because I couldn't overwrite any class. After updating and rebooting it works as expected. I agree with you that full 3D ist not feasible at the moment but the goal is to get the floor plans, base sections and elevations (up to 1:50) like you described, annotate them and use the model as a guideline to draw the details in 2D.
  3. Sorry if I expressed myself misleadingly. My office right now is creating our first 3d project as a test balloon and template. And the goal is to get 1:50 construction documents with nice line weights (as in https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/architectural-graphics-101-line-weight/). I was inspired by @Tom W. and @Kevin K and their postings for construction documents and sections generated from the 3d Model, like in this thread: In Order to do that, I have many cases where I want a thick outline in detail or floorplan and a thin line in section/Elevation/Isometric. I See two options : A) All container wall classes with 0.10 and then overwrite in floor plan to get heavier lines for elements like for walls, etc. with 0.35, 0.25... B) Or Heavy lines in the original classes and then overwrite to 0.10 for Isometric and Elevations. The example file from AlanW worked as expected, but I can't get my own test file to work. I`m confused why this may be.... wall test.vwx
  4. With a new file it works totally fine with styled and unstyled walls. Sometimes vectorworks is mysterious 😂. I will post my other file this evening.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I was expecting the behaviour of your screenshot but somehow it wouldn’t work. I will check my file and post an example file if this behaviour continues.
  6. Hello, Is it correct that you can only overwrite the outline of the wall component in section an floor plan but not in isometric views by class? So we have to set the class existing-wall- exterior to 0.10 and then overwrite the class in floorplan to something like 0.35 mm? And not the other way round (class with 0.35) and viewport class overwrite with 0.10 to get a fine line in an isometric view?
  7. Has Anyone Experience with IFC Export from Vectorworks to Sema (Wood construction Software used by most of theFraming Companies in Germany)? https://www.sema-soft.de/home/ I´m looking for a way to transfer my Wood construction from Roofs or Framing to native Objects in Sema. So that we don't have to go the cumbersome DWG route. Simple IFC Export with Vectorworks or Archicad produced not the desired outcome.
  8. This is a big issue for our daily work in Renovation projects. This is one advantage of point clouds. Everyone can access a single source of truth. But from point cloud to model or drawing is a big pain. We are testing Leicas BLk360 for the measuring of existing conditions and I have to say that measuring by “hand” feels somehow better because your already abstracting before drawing. This is the same issue I have with many model generated drawings. They are in most cases far less readable than conscious drawn ones and making them readable costs so much time.
  9. Thank you very much. Very interesting to see a real workflow.
  10. Hello Tom, Your examples are very interesting for us, because we do mostly renovation projects here in Germany. At this point our 3D Workflow in Vectorworks is still rudimentary so may I ask, how you got usable floor plans from the 3D solids. Via Hybrid object?
