  1. Does Vw 2009 for Mac supports 64bit technology? How about this and the implementation on Vw? http://www.deskeng.com/articles/aaahyx.htm http://www.deskeng.com/articles/aaahyw.htm
  2. I think the big thing is the parasolid kernel. To change the kernel it's not an esay task for any software developer. With this move Vw it's now a big player in modeling foundations. The big changes with objects and functionality will come in next versions. The new kernel promises 3d dimensions, editable sections, INTELIGENT GEOMETRY (a must needed for Vw parametrics objects) and many others functions asked in our wish lists. This will affect the foundation of Vw in a very positive way. I think it's important to support this update because there's no doubt NNA with this new change get compromised with the idea of make Vw a better application with real solutions for their users.
  3. Check this http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=109595#Post109595 http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=108922#Post108922
  4. Agree with Jim and GMM. On Bold and Underlined, too.

    VW 2009

Don't think so. Vectorworks is always better on the mac...
  6. VW has to become 64bit first. Not only the machine and the os, the software must be 64bit, too.
  7. I give C4d: A+. It's a fantanstic tool. It's capabilities are powerfull. The user interface is different because it doesn't rely on the os, it's independent. Once you get in you discover a fascinating piece of software, easy and logical.
  8. I think this could help: http://www.maxon.net/pages/dyn_files/dyn_htx/htx/2395/02395_02396.html http://www.cineversity.com/ On the Vw units there's nothing to do, but in the C4d side you have to be sure of your units settings. The relation form C4d to Vw it's 100 times to 1. 1 meter in VW has to be set to cm(1m=100cm) in C4d. How you are exporting: dxf or plug in? You have to set the scale preferences of import to 100. (Edit-->Preferences-->Import-->DXF or VW import) Then you configure your units to cm (on C4D). View Panel --> Frame Scene it;s like --> Fit to page Hope this helps. Sorry for my english.
  9. Do you have the option enabled to save every time? Do you have the option enabled to make a backup instead of overwriting the original file? If both responses are yes, then look at your file in the backup folder...specially if you didn't save by command (file-->save) and only by the save reminder.
  10. How do you setup you units and model in C4d? You know, when you select one object in C4d you move your view around it, it facilitates a lot of movements. Remenber you can export VW cameras to C4d via the plug in.
  11. C4d is logical and easy to use, once you get in. 3dmax looks more complicated to me. Maxwell and Vray functions with Cinema; if you want more quality over cinema. I use cinema with maxwell. I'm happy with the workflow. VW--->C4d--->Maxwell. I think you should take another look to C4D.
  12. I think most of the things in the VW gallery, uses objects from libreries included in VW.
  13. Cut, Copy & Paste...with base point. It' will be good, working across layers and documents.
  14. Radial configuration, too. Associative, inside SVP and VP.
  15. This have to be the direction! With the powerful 3d power pack in mind.
  16. The Apple part. That can be fresh air for softwares that relies on the Mac, like Vectorworks and Archicad. Think in velocity and, think pc's won't have it in the near future (they are working to fix vista fiasco). Autodesk relies on the pc. http://www.architosh.com/news/2008-07/0717_gpu_piranahs_opencl.html
  17. I'm not saying is difficult...I think it will be useful.
  18. I understand, but when you need to classify some elements with the same attributes, like a concrete beam or column, and need it to be in different classes. When you need to change, for example, the hatch you only have to change it in the superclass, not in every class. That can open many possibilities...
  19. It would be nice to have classes in VectorWorks that have the same properties as classes in object oriented programing languages, I mean, to be able to extend a class into a sub-class and have heritage. This way if I change something in the super class, all the sub-classes will get the change too. For example, If I create a class called Concrete, and then I extend this class to a class called Beam, and another called Column, etc, this two sub-classes extends concrete, that means they get the same attributes from the concrete class , plus new ones defined by their own. In this scenario , if I change something in Concrete, the two sub-classes would be affected by this changes unless specifically override in a sub-class.
  20. I think that's one of the intentions of this joint, Mike. I can see a tremendous effort in centralizing all the aspects regarding Bim interoperability: Revit, Revit Structure, Green Building, Ecotect, Revit and Mental (renderings). And i don't see it good. NNA may have a good solution with thermorender...but all the users are needing more of those solutions that make colaboration with other disciplines a smooth condition, always supportting open technologies like IFC, or standards like PDF and PDF 3d. I have found that some electrical engineers like the electrical module, but they need a little more sofistication in some aspects. Why not a real module for pipping, with all the standards considered. I always say that VW is a really powerfull software. It's light in a good way, flexible, and people like to learn it. You can solve many design problems, from concept to finished project. Why not push it a little more...again...remember the days of minicad.
