  1. Now THAT'S an exciting episode!! I now have the functionality. Wish I had the time to learn scripting............ Didn't need the links. Thank you Doctor Robert.
  2. Maybe this will help: http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=38578&topic=9055
  3. Well here is the next not-so-exciting yet curiously frustrating episode: IT'S A BUG.......apparently for those who only have the stand-alone Architect license. It seems odd that this got by the programmers initially and that, apparently, I am the first user to notice. I fear a program fix will have to wait until I pay for VW 13.
  4. Quite right mar schrammeyer! I stand corrected. Option zero on a mac creates a zero one would use for exponents (so I learned on the list). It is difficult to see the difference in some fonts but others are quite different. Sorry 'bout that.....bradley
  5. Robert, I have filled out the bugsubmit form and even sent a file but not sure of the benefit as the issue is not file specific.
  6. I do find "site modifiers.vso" in my plugins folder. By the way, I use to be able to edit my posts but can't seem to figure it out these days. Any clues here?
  7. Thanks, Jonathan. I figured that might be next but I find the site modifiers are not in my 12.0.1 VW either. So is it that I somehow corrupted my 12.0.1 and the 12.5.1 upgrade cannibalizes those items? Or it just failed to install that item twice?
  8. Thanks Peter. Good to know that it IS out there. But it is missing here. Just looking for a bit of convenience that is missing and how I can get it back. Somehow maybe suck it out of 12.0.1 and reinsert into a file in 12.5.1? Don't know why it is missing (in all workspaces). Anyone?
  9. The manual says that (in Architect or Landmark) I can modify my site model with a polyline by selecting the Objects from Polyline command and I will then find it in the list. All options are present except the site modifiers. Why would site modifiers not be listed and how can I install it? Or is this a known glitch? I have deleted menu and re-entered it into my custom workspace and site modifiers is also not present in the menu that lies within the standard arcitect workspace . Or does anyone know how to otherwise convert 2D objects into site modifiers? This could be a bit easier than the site modifier tool in some cases. Thanks, Bradley
  10. Well, Peter A, I must say that was one righteous response.
  11. I may post this in landmark as well but the manual says that (in Architect or Landmark) I can modify my site model with a polygon by selecting the Objects from Polyline command and I will then find it in the list. All options are present except the site modifiers. Why would site modifiers not be listed and how can I get it back. Or is this a known bug? Despite what it says below, I am running VW ARCH/RW 12.5.1(65397). Thanks, Bradley
  12. Try this: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ Click on your city (or nearby) if listed and scroll down to coordinates. HTH, Bradley
  13. I like to look at it as: the designated scale of the design layer or viewport is the scale at which they print. Therefore, if printed scale is important, you can see how your drawing will fit on a given sheet size at a given scale. Otherwise it doesn't seem to be too important at which scale one draws in.
  14. dunc, On my mac it is simply Option zero. There are many ways it seems.
  15. Katie, thanks for the suggestion. Problem is, I can't find Invert Selection in my edit menu or Workspace Editor. Is this new in 12.5?
  16. Maybe it lays studs out according to the direction of the wall itself?
  17. After selecting the light source, is cast shadows checked in the OIP? Don't know about the textures unless maybe they're applied to objects or within groups of objects with class set to invisible or the object has no fill?
  18. Thanks islandmon, I tried installing the gimp drivers and I spec it (HP Deskjet 1220c, CUPS+Gimp-Print v4.2.5) as my choice for printer in the printer list but nothing happens. I'm sure I did something wrong here since I'm not too savvy in such matters. I did try your PDF/Preview suggestion to no avail. Thanks, Bradley.
  19. Hello, I have just now discovered that my printed drawings are stretched slightly horizontally but not vertically. As an example: I draw a rectangle that is 36 ft wide by 32 ft high. I print this drawing on a 13 x 19 sheet on a HP 1220c printer and when I scale the actual printed drawing the 32ft vertical will measure correctly but the 36 ft horizontal will measure 35'-9"....losing 3" somehow. The error is the same printing from a design layer or a sheet layer. Scaling on the monitor with the tape measure tool measures correctly. Can someone enlighten me as to the to source of the problem and it's solution? Thanks, Bradley

    Exporting Image Files

Yes Travis, this is the way I ended up doing it, thanks, and yes Alan I read your pdflab tip a while back on the list and I am using it now but I did have a problem with the pdf generated. I had 10 sheets to be printed so from within VW and using OSX I generated 10 single PDF's which, alone, each was 24 x 36 and filled up their PDF pages. When I ganged them all up into one PDF via pdflab, the individual pages said they were 24 x 36 in the lower left corner of the window but the actual image was a tiny portion of the page (almost 8 x 12 in size) and they could not be used with their print machines. I ended up just using the 10 separate PDF's alone and they printed fine. Is there some setting in the pdflab I am missing? Or any solutions otherwise? Thanks for your help with this, Bradley
  21. PETE, thanks any way. The list helped me out to the point of success just a few minutes ago. On the mac, it is not necessary to have a large format printer driver installed. Here's the workaround scenario for a mac. Go to file>page setup. Set pages boxes horizontal and vertical to 1. In same Page Setup dialog click on printer setup button. Go to Page attributes>Custom Paper size and select new and enter your page criteria and click save and make sure your new paper size is selected when you exit the dialog. You will return to the Page Setup dialog and there click ok. Menu>Print>Save as PDF, give it a name and location and you're good to go. If you originally set up you drawing file as Arch D, you will have to do this for each sheet and verify, after you create you custom with it's margins, that your current sheet is completely in the sheet layer boundary before printing. Also, once you have set up your custom sheet size, for each save to PDF you can go to the printer set up and select sheet size and scroll down to your custom and select. The above may not be totally well presented but might help you there as well.....thanks your help and theirs, Bradley
  22. Thanks for the help Pete. Right now I am a stranger in a strange land. I think pdf995 is for Windows only and I don't have Acrobat Pro and their trial seems to be windows only. I have been assembling my PDF's with a cute little app called PDF Lab. I guess it's time to shell out the $500 for the Pro 7 unless the Standard will do for $300. Whenever I save as a PDF from the sheet layer I just get 6 separate images that make up the total 24 x 36 sheet when mated. I believe if I had a large format (24x36) printer driver I could spec that as my printer and the drawing would size correctly as a 24 x 36 in the PDF. Trouble is I am having a very difficult time trying to install any drivers from HP or Canon. I have tried a driver from each and it says the installation was sucessful but I can't find it and neither can my printer setup utility. Any tips anyone? Thanks again
  23. Perhaps this is the best place for my querie. Hello, I was hoping someone could give me an idea as to the best way to create proper PDF's for use by my local printer. My drawing sheet size is Arch D (24x36) but my own printer will only print 13 x 19 maximum. I can export all of the sheets as image files and compile them into a PDF. When I open the PDF my size indicated in the lower left hand corner of the PDF window says 13 x 19. This has me thinking it will print to that size as compared to my sheet size of 24 x 36. Am I correct? Will I have to install some large format printer driver in order to spec 24 x 36 in Page Set-up and then be able to actually export JPEGS at 24 x 36? What might be my best strategy to generate a file of my sheets that I know are the right size? Thanks, Bradley

  25. Changing wall line weights after creation is done in the Object Info Palette. Click on components>edit and then select the lineweights you prefer. Is this what you're asking?
