Greetings, I'm using the subject CD. It has a link back to "VW" at the bottom of the page. When I select it, it opens VW10 not VW11. I've tried opening VW11 first then the training CD. It ignores 11 and still opens 10. Is there a user setting that would cause the CD to default to 11? It would ease training to link to the proper program. Thanks in advance. Marshall

Greetings, I held a site survey up to my laptop and traced its PL and sited the house. The survey is drawn to 1=20' so I set the layer to the same scale. Why doesn't it scale correctly? Is there some way to treat the screen as a tablet and pick off rough points and scale them correctly? Thanks in advance.

I just loaded my update copy of LW11. Can I safely delete my LM10.5 folder? Or does it have to remain as this is an update? Thanks in advance, Marshall

This may be a silly question but... I am setting up my first template. I've created a huge list of favorites under the assumption that having them close at hand in my resource browser is a good thing. Is this true? Does creating too many favorities slow the program down? Just wondering what others include in a template. Marshall

While practicing I used the workspace editor and created a new workspace. It created a selectable "new workspace". How do I delete that workspace? I opened the VW workspace file but there was nothing there to delete. Thanks in advance. Marshall

I discovered "smoothing". That solves the plantbed question. Regarding the line, polyline and polygon. When limiting oneself to only 2d, is there a recommended pattern of use for various typical siteplan items, say edge of curbs, sidewalks, plantbeds, etc? Lines best? Polylines better?

Drawing a simple planting plan. Several questions about tools to use. 1. Sidewalk. Use line tool,polyline or polygon? Is the decision whether I plan to ever add color or texture fill? If adding texture use a poly; otherwise try to always use lines whenever possible? 2. Curvilinear Plantbeds. I've tried freehand. It's very shaky. I've tried the various arc and elipse tools but they are hard to control. Is there another tool I'm missing or do I have to lay plant bed edges out like roads; tangents, radius PC, PT? It's the compound curves that I want. Thanks in advance.

Robert, When modifying a file with the workspace editor, should this be done in a template; thereby changing what you see whenever you open up that template again? Or is this function to allow you to change what you see while working on a specific file depending on what you need to currently do? Marshall

Robert, Let me ask this another way. If I open a new file and using the workspace editor add to or delete from the buttons I see, do these workspace changes take effect only in that file or are these changes to Vectorworks default setting? If I close Vectorworks then open up a new file, by making this change in one file/document, have I overwritten Vectorwork's default button settings in only that file/document or for all new documents?

Greetings, I have one VW license (v10.5.) It was originally installed on a laptop that has since crashed and been disposed. I reloaded VW on an office PC that has since been replaced with a new Dell. I was unable to erase the VW copy from the laptop as it was a total disk failure. Nor have I erased VW from the old PC. I have loaded VW on the new Dell without any "access" failures or warnings. How should I proceed? I do not want to confuse my licensing or "access rights?" How is this tracked? Do I just erase VW off the old PC or do I have to do this with the CD installed so total copies made are somehow tracked? What about the laptop copy? That copy still count somehow even though it is long gone? Thanks in advance for any advice. Marshall

I'm not sure I'm going about this the "correct" or logical way. I have set up a template that fits the majority of the projects I plan to do. In that template file I'd like to add all the plants I typically use to the Plant Category file. This way they are all there when/if I need them in the future. Is this a logical use of a template? Or will I so load up the Plant Catelog that it becomes unwieldly? If this is a logical idea, is there an easier way of migrating the plant data from the Plant Database for the plants that I need into the Plant Catelog? If not, it will take me days to work my way through this process as it takes a number of keystrokes and insertion of data for each plant. As a thought, it would be very helpful to have a checkbox in the Plant Database that automatically added each selected plant to the Plant Catelog. Regarding varying spreads/heights; perhaps an average could be used unless overritten by the user? Thanks in advance. Marshall

I setup a template and in that template I deleted a number of plant "generic" catelog selections that I felt I would never use, e.g. palms. Two questions. First. I'd like to put some of the generic ID codes back in but don't know what they are. Is there a list of IDs somewhere that I can review to determine that STSL is Shade Tree Street Large? Second. When placing plants, I select from the reduced list of plants that I have left in my plant catelog. I place three trees, all large "undefined" deciduous trees. All three use the same undefined plant ID. Later I go back and define them as three different types of deciduous trees. Do I have to create two new defined plant catelog selections to complete this task? Set up STSL1, STSL2, and so forth?

I've just downloaded the new version of Landmark v10.5. It has a streamlined look. Was this done to speed up the program or do I need to reset some "settings" to make it look similiar to v10.1. FYI, I have not downloaded the updated patterns yet. Would this have an impact? Thanks in advance.
