  1. Hi, I said "rather" in my previous post ... I should have said "in addition to". There are times when it will be more efficient, such as with a large number of objects, to ajust conversion res for all objects at the same time. I have used other applications that allow modifying resolution on both global and per object basis, within the same application, and having both options is very useful. Chris
  2. It would be nice to adjust the conversion res on a per object basis, rather than globally. Additionally, there is a signigficant delay when adjusting the conversion res while a document is open. Adjusting with no documents open is the quickest method, but sometimes I just want to change the conversion res for a single object (for the purpose of converting it to a mesh). Hopefully it is possible to address these issues in a future release. Chris
  3. Thanks, very helpful. Not sure how I missed this in the manual, but I was doing a search in the electronic version. Regards, Chris
  4. At the top bar in the VW window , just below the title bar, you can choose which layer is active from a drop down list. There are usually isometric cube symbols next to the layer names, but in some files I have seen the iso cube change to a square with what appear to be dimension lines to the bottom and right. ...can't find this documented anywhere .... anyone know what it means? VW 10.1.2 MacOS 9.2.1 Chris
  5. The quality of curves is poor when using Acrobat Distiller (version 4.0). I am using the "print optimized" setting, but perhaps there is another setting to increase quality of curves? Chris
  6. Thanks Austin, using Distiller and Laser Writer 8 PPD fixed the problem. Chris
  7. Hi All, I'm using Acrobat PDF writer v4.0 (yeah I know it's old) MacOS 9.2.1, and VW 10.1.2. I have have the following problems with rotated text: 1) The characters are broken apart and skewed from the angle that they should be on 2) Checking the "disable driver" option for rotated text produces a garbled mess. I did check for other postings with this problem, but did not find any that addressed this specific issue. I suspect that the old version of PDF Writer may be the problem. Chris
  8. I found a work-around by scaling the objects that are on the layer, independently of the linked layer, which can't be scaled. Chris
  9. Thanks for the replies Jim & Katie, I am able to copy and paste my linked layer to another rendered layer, so now I get the two views rendered together. When I pasted in my linked layer, it assumed the scale of the layer that I pasted it into. I want to keep the scale of the linked layer. Is there a way to do this? Chris
  10. Hi Jim, I thought I had linked the layer with the second view to the layer with the first view. How do I verify this? Thanks, Chris
  11. Hi Katie, I tried setting the memory as you suggested, but this did not correct the problem.(I did restart the computer after doing this.) I did not have any conflict in Extension Manager. There is something funny with the memory usage of MacOS, which is using about 570Mb or so of system memory, and this is after I have turned off all the extensions that are not needed. In my experience with other Macs, this number is usually 30 - 50 Mb. I'll have to check in to this MacOS memory usage to see if it may be part of the problem. Thanks, Chris
  12. Hi Katie The NVIDIA driver extensions are version 3.5.2, Mac OS CPU software 5.4. The OpenGL extensions are all version 1.2.4, with the exception of OpenGL library, which is 1.2.5 The error message is "OpenGL has run out of memory. Please close some applications." Thanks, Chris
  13. Hello, I'm using VW 10.1.2 standard on MacOS 9.2.2. I have a document with 3 layers, and want 2 of the layers to have shaded renderings in front and iso views. The 3rd layer has my title block I have been able to scale the 2 layers and move them with the move view tool to fit nicely on an 8-1/2x11 page for printing. The problem is one of the shaded views always blocks out the other view. When I change to wireframe or hidden line, I can see both views just fine. I have changed layer ordering and also the type of transfer from one layer to the next (ie changing "Paint" to "Overlay") to no avail. Any thoughts? Chris
  14. Hello, I'm using VW 10.1.2 (standard) on MacOS 9.2.2. VW memory is set to 200Mb min, 250Mb max. This Mac has the NVIDIA 4600 GeForce4 Ti with 128Mb vram, system memory is 2Gb and dual 1.25Ghz CPUs. I've been having trouble with OpenGL and Hidden Line renderings, and have followed some suggestions on this forum, such as setting undos to 0 or 1, to free up some memory, but I am still having "running out of memory" problems, program crashes, or extremely SLOOOOOW rendering. The strange thing is my file(s) are only 3 - 6 Mb, and with a ludicrous amount of available memory, I can't understand why OpenGL is running out system memory. All my objects are NURBS, and I have tried meshing them, and this does seem to speed up hidden line rendering a bit. My next step is to see if there are newer OpenGL drivers for the NVIDIA card. Chris
  15. OK - I discovered that VW only allows accurate dimensioning or measuring in a 3D projection view set to Oblique Cavalier 45 or Oblique Cabinet 45. I can live with that, but it would be real nice if I could dimension or measure in an Isometric view (no distortion). Chris
  16. I can set up working planes to move and snap my objects, though it does not really make it any easier than just changing the view, move and snap. Chris
  17. Hello, I find that measuring in an isometric view does not produce correct measurements, even though I am using snaps. Also, moving objects in an isometric view, again using snaps, does not work as I would expect, since the objects are not snapped at the same point in the other views, though the isometric view appears correct. Am I missing something? Regards, Chris
