  1. Is there a way to show ID bubbles in 3D (besides using the Annotations mode in a viewport)? I like to indicate door and window IDs in elevation. I'm thinking something akin to the Show 3D Hinge Direction option in the Door Settings/View dialog box, with a control point to adjust its placement. Thanks, Santa.
  2. Before I add this as a Wish List request: Is there a way to show ID bubbles in 3D (besides using the Annotations mode in a viewport)? I like to indicate door and window IDs in elevation. I'm thinking something akin to the Show 3D Hinge Direction option in the Door Settings/View dialog box.
  3. He means the top box under the Data--not the Shape--tab of the OIP. As I mentioned, deleting that info/name and regenerating it worked with a similar Space object problem, but I can't get it to work with Stairs. Individually creating stairs (as opposed to duplicating them) is obviously a pain with larger multi-story projects. Yes, you place stairs on different flights on top of each other. Selecting the right one to edit is hit-or-miss, which is also annoying. Superimposing stairs of different widths is actually helpful in this regard, because it's clear which one you're trying to select.
  4. Actually, the problem seems to be confined to doors, not windows.
  5. Can you control these separately from the door/window class? Let's say I want a door/window to have a fill but the ID bubble not to. I would think that's the purpose of the Door Settings>Data>ID Class: dialog, but I set that to a class with no fill.....and it had no effect.
  6. I wish there was a keyboard command to toggle the Zoom Line Thickness preference. I prefer to draw with it off, both to draw more accurately (ie without line thicknesses obscuring others), and also for speed. But I do like to occasionally check how the actual line thicknesses read graphically. Going into the Preferences dialog box is a bit of a pain--a keyboard command would help.
  7. I know that sheet layer referencing is not possible, but I just want to confirm this scenario: I have a viewport where all the notes are annotations in the sheet--not the design--layer. I want a co-worker to revise the annotations. Currently, he's working on a copy of the file--and I cut and paste his annotations into my viewport. Is there a more efficient method using referencing?
  8. Gerrit, I seem to recall using that solution (with success) with a similar problem involving Space objects. But it doesn't seem to be working with Stairs. Will file bug report.
  9. Don't know about v12. I'm using VW2008. It is very annoying. Unless I'm doing something wrong. In which case.....never mind! --------------------- VectorWorks Architect 2008/RW SP2 Mac OS 10.5.2 iMac 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2 GB RAM MacBookPro 2.33GHz/2GB RAM
  10. When I duplicate a stair made with the Stair tool (either by option-dragging, cutting/pasting, mirroring, etc)--when I subsequently select one of them and try to delete it--both stairs are deleted. When I undo the delete, both stairs are shown to be selected (even though I originally selected only one).
  11. As I understand it, when elevation benchmarks are set relative to a reference elevation (say in a section viewport), when you move the viewport all the elevations change. And when you set them to a control point, when you move the benchmark the control point moves with it. Is there some way of doing what I would consider most logical and useful: benchmarks are set to some reference or control point, and when you move them (eg after you change a floor level)--the elevations would adjust. Or another way of putting it: behaving as reference elevations do now, but would not change when you move a viewport?

  13. I knew it was child's play. Thank you VERY much.
  14. In a door embedded in a wall--how does one not show the lines that are continuations of the wall? I don't want some interior doors to look like they have a threshold. I've tried unchecking "Draw wall lines," deactivating the Sill class, giving the Threshold a style with lines the same color as the floor, etc.
  15. Is there a way to import a class with the same name from another file? Since when importing classes, the list of available classes only shows those with different names--I'm not sure it's possible. I think it would be helpful eg if I want to override the class attributes in the current file quickly. Otherwise one is left to do it manually.

  17. I wish there was cross-pollenization between these tools whereby when a wood framing member (joist, plate, rafter, etc) was cut in section, one had the option to graphically describe it as per the Detail Wood Cut Object tool. Currently, I believe the DWCO tool is two dimensional only, so in section viewports you have to overlay these over the cut members in the annotations layer--which is a rather low tech workaround.
  18. I think I figured it out. The door/window pen attribute for style and thickness have to be set to NOT be the class style (or, referring to blackdogarch, "Use At Creation" should be UNCHECKED). Then "Use Part Line Styles" works. Why this additional step is necessary is mysterious to me (ie why can't "Use..." just override the class attributes?). 19. "Special Classes" works when rendered (how does it work in wireframe?). But checking "Use Part Line Styles" still has no effect. I'm a little confused--"this is probably what you were doing" is correct, but implies I should be doing something else. Thanks in advance. 20. I wish for expanded capabilities in the "Sections in Database" and "Notes in Database" that would allow subsections as well as moving notes between sections (for the latter, currently of course one has to cut and paste). Essentially something more MacOS Finder-like. Also, I wish the Text>Capitalization options applied to database callouts.
  21. I can't get the "Use Part Line Styles" options in the Door & Window Settings/View dialog box to work. The settings remain those of the Attributes palette. Any suggestions? MacBookPro 2.33GHz/2GB RAM Mac OS 10.5.2 VectorWorks Architect 2008 SP2
  22. Currently (I believe) to reshape a floor that's not a regular shape, you have to double-click it first and then use the 2D Reshape tool. Why this intermediate step--why not directly use the 2D Reshape tool as with regular polygons? Also, when double-clicking, everything else disappears, making it difficult/impossible to reshape in context. At the very least, there should be an option akin to "Show other objects while in groups."
  23. I wish that one could carry wall components around the exposed ends of walls (eg "fin" walls). For example, if you have a wall consisting of studs covered by 1/2" gypboard--if the wall end is exposed (ie doesn't join another wall)--the gypboard would automatically wrap around that end. Currently, one has to draw a separate 1/2" wall and stick it on the end.
  24. Elements I've created with the Framing Member and Joist tools do not have fills in section viewports, rendered in Hidden Line. The only exception are joists created by the Framing Member, type: Joist, Config: Solid Wood Beam. Strangely, joists created by the Joist tool, Config: Solid Wood Beam do not. VWA2008 Mac OS 10.5.2
