  1. I wish we had the ability to create floors from a TOP Z instead of (or as well as if people really like it in its current form) a BOTTOM Z. In architecture we specify floor levels meaning the top, whether it be a structural slab level or a finished floor level: So the ability to draw this way would make VW consistent with real world floors.
  2. I've had RSI since 1996 and other nerve damage since 2002. Unfortaunately there is no single remedy for these injuries. Posture and desk/chair/computer arrangement are of paramount importance. Stretching regularly is also very helpful, long days are simply out of the question (unless prepared to accept the painful and occassionally permanent consequences), and light muscle building work with a very small dumbell (1-1.5lk/ 2-3 pounds) for the muscles in the forearm are good too. This site might be of some help: www.ergonomics.com.au/howtosit.htm I've learned that pain won't simply go away on it's own, it requires a change of pattern (position/hours/exercise).

    HP750C?

I used to work with a 750C+ and never had any complaints. That said, we were using VW8.5 and OS 8.6 at the time. The plotter was also simultaneously being used by Win machines using Microstation which printed through a central location in HPGL2.
  4. Katie, A slightly off the subject question. When I edit a colour on the palette, say changing 64 from light yellow to dark blue, all the objects that were previously associated with 64 are re-assigned to the nearest match to what 64 used to be. Is there a way to stop this re-assignment of colour? If so, it will make my life much easier!
  5. Sending them as PDF files comes to mind. Otherwise, no. The good people of NNA work hard to give us the ability to import data well, but it is still an "import" rather than "opening" of the sender's file.
  6. To resolve the initial wish, an NNA engineer might simply add a tick box in the offset by distance dialogue which would allow the user to decide whether to merely "offset by distance" or "duplicate and offset by distance" I know I would find this quite useful.
  7. I know how to apply a hatch the old way: Tool/ Hatch/ pick one/ Click to set origin/ Drag to select rotation, resulting in a group of lines. And the newer (v7+) way: Select object/ Attributes palette/ Hatch, resulting in an associative hatch whose location is based on the file's settings. Here is what I want to do: Apply an associative hatch AND dictate the origin and rotation.
  8. Hey, if we're going to start asking for stuff from Ustation why not throw in Project Variables? In terms of VW application it is completely counter to the philosophy of all the project information being within the file, but it becomes necessary when managing large projects. In this case I think it would take the shape of a file governing classes (inc. all attributes and maybe even class text attributes), symbols, hatches, gradients, scripts etc and maybe even keep track of layers so two files on the same project can't have layers with the same name. Without a doubt it would make managing a large project easier.
  9. Hi Katie, Was 8 tested for Win 2000? I remember using 8.5 on my P3 900MHz laptop without problem. Users wishing to stick to older versions may simply need to stick with the OS of the day.
  10. We can strecth groups. We can't LASSO stretch groups.
  11. I work with lots of groups, usually only one or two groups deep and would love to have the possibility of stretching/modifying them along with all the other data when doing a lasso stretch (maybe this becomes a button in the document preferences alongside layer colour and black and white only) Other users may find this a useful feature too, also I'm curious to know if it would actually annoy anyone (is there a downside)?
