I have saved the file to acrobat distiller. the layers are all grey, how do I change them to all black? Thank you

I just purchased VW spotlight, I have never done a plot on VW, I have the plot done, I just need to get it to a PDF, I have Acrobat 5, What scale does the drawing need to be, to make it viewable to Acro reader, It breaks up into 12 pages right now. The plot is roughly 53ft wide by 34ft deep. Thank You in advance. CJ
