Whats your Vidoe card 128 minimum should be i believe . I run same setup but 128Meg with 1Gig of ram .Always slows down on hatches. One thing I have been able to help to delete or merge unwanted classes,Especially any autocad layers that are imported as classes this has helped me gain a little . Also check 2d resolution settings in your preferences. Sometimes when I get slowed by hatches go to 3d plan view to do scrolling as this hides all the slowing 2d stuff. Frustrating eh .Hope this may be of help. Regards Brendan

Go to information palette And at the bottom or close to it is a tab called position . When you click on this it gives you 3 lines outside ,centre & inside the line and end that has like a full stop this the point by default you are referencing from . Options as to which side of the wall you want to move from. By clickiing on each point you can change were to measure from . But is only a typed in value dont know if anyone has been able to nudge a symbol in a wall. The thing I do is use the tape measure tool before hand to work out how far to move to then type that in as either a + or - to the existing reference . Reason for this is the symbol in wall is controlled now by the wall so if you try to nudge it it moves the controling feature which is the wall.Its really cool when you get used to it .I hpoe this helps Brendan

I think this is the point of it all .I have spent a number of hours working this problem to .It would save much if this was a workable function or at least an accessible DomenutextByName. Its not helping all of us scratching around doing our own thing with code no-one really wants to share .

Yes I have used this in a script .What a misnomer it should be called X axis duplicate function .I hope they really do provide a real offset function soon . I thought this was the whole idea of scripts to do what You can manually into a scripted form . Come on NNA crank it up a bit .

Any one had this problem? On pc xp to xp machines VWA10.1.2 Trying to update brief case and all the zipped VW files make it spit the dummy as it were. Windows wont allow it but other zipped files eg excel,shhhh autocad will .We have to delete all zipfiles to do this . Didnt seem to do this on 9.5 version Can anyone helpwith ideas Cheers Brendan

Font Idae sounds good lads I really really really thinh it is embarrasing that you cannot control the start and stop of you dash styles.It makes 2d draughting look budget.Should be able to control to the point that a full start and stop on a line . Also so that when you use diagonal dash lines that are parrallel(say a drainge pipe ) the dash pattern can be controlled that it visually looks the same while they are parrallel.At the moment it all seems to be the luck of the draw .Pardon the pun. when doing a roof outline with hips and valleys meeting the corners dont meet .looks budget when printing . Pretty please o great programmers Lets do what autocad can and more.

To answer the Question .Yes version is 10.1.2 47 objects on the active layer 1965 objects in the drawing. Can i send the file ? have new computer with the newbie stuff as previously explained."Is this as good as it gets" Are ther settings i can manipulate? Regards Brendan

Whoops I forgot Vectors other VW objects drawn in 10.No bitmaps I am pasting And no I avoid like crazing running anything else. Sometimes tho Excel . But has done this when Excel not operating. Hope this covers everything.

Youre very promt Katie I am appreciative of this . xp 12 -6 meg file sizes Plans with layer links. When they become populated in 2d they slow Often Plans whole house in 3d then in 2d plan I Link to a model wall layer then populate in 2d . The more I populate the slower it seems . I dont nest the layer links have learned this the hard way. Tried reducing file sizeby changing prefs and all that . I hpoe this answers . Thanks again for youre reply its very re-assuring Brendan

Have tried new update that was meant to fix the bud VW10.1.2 Has helped but grinds down especially under magnification. Have two to three other files open to cut and paste . Even brought new pc to help but no difference. P4 2.66 megahezt cpu.1 gig of ram ddr(2 ram chips running parrallel).800Mhz bus. 128 meg video. Have tried for the beefiest pc at present without mortgaging the house . Help 10 I presume is still being debugged . 9.5 Not like this but Its no good going back. Are there things I can do. Thanks Katie for your prompt reply. Did do that and it has helped on some bigger files when I zoom in close it does slow down alot and regeneration is stilted. Is this Windows system? No doubt as we keep going it will improve Thanks again for the immediate help and backup. Regards Brendan

Can anyone help Running VWA+RW10.1 ,xp,p4,1600mhz,512ddr ram,64meg o/b graphics . Have 3-4meg file with layer links and so forth. When I zoom in my refresh rate is so slow the more I zoom the worse it gets .Sometimes i even loose my graphics for a while .Really frustrating and non productive . Is worse when say a Site plan or floor plan in 2d is getting more populated. Have tried reducing bits and pieces in settings no difference .9.5 was not like this . Can some kind person tell me this is not me for the rest of my working life (which wont be long at this rate ) Any suggestions anyone ??? Cheers Brendan

Perhaps i should have thought about it a liitle more I am trying to script my own pluggin .Linear object type.I thought it may be my Parameters ,have set settings to mm and so forth?I presume this is what this type of plugin can do .A editable linear length with the cursor then with other objects that can be ediited by parameter.Thanks for a comments ? I work for a small company making the transition from autocad to VW. I Am employed to develope VW to there way of doing things .One answer I cannot give is in relation to the place where dash lines start and stop.Often they can stop at the end of a line so as it does not appear connected to the line it is joined to.Say a roof footprint has no lines meeting on the corners . I am reminded that autocad has the ability to turn off and on a function that controls the dash so it ends and starts on a visible dash.Almost like it has an integer value. Thank you for this consideration as per many of the things VW does it will be user friendly and fast done. Regards Brendan
