Why can I only rotate hybrid objects on the "Z" axis? Maybe I'm missing something. I drop a symbol in my drawing, then change the view to the front and I want to rotate the object so it's orientation is differnt. Say on the Y axis so the object is vertical. Is that so absurd? How do I make this happen?

I had this problem with 9.5, and I was told it was the driver. (VW didn't like the 4.6 version of the design jet driver) So here I am in 11, and it's still happening. What gives? VW 11.0 HP Design Jet 455ca v4.61

I use the Resource browser a lot. OK I'm getting used to there being only one window for resources, and objects unlike the seperate windows in version 9.5. However I've found a new frustration maybe someone can help me with. I can't seem to browse a template. When attempting to "browse document" an explorer window opens giving me the option to search however at the very bottom it list file types, but it list .mcd files. Theres no "all files" or such. Thereby not allowing me to search my template files. Why? I used to be able to pull symbols out of templates, now I can't. Very sad stuff.

OK, I want to edit my symbols and give them names that will appear in LW the way I like them. For example a source 4 symbol is named "Etc Source 4 36deg" I hate that I like "S4 36?" So I've edited my symbol and changed it's name. That didn't do it. Then while editing a symbol I clicked in blank space then changed the info in the light info record. That didn't do it either. Even though I've changed all this stuff still when I drop a symbol onto the drawing the Instrument name is the long name it came with, as seen in the light info record. Does anyone know how to do this?

well it's not even a crash. twice today the program has completely disapeared. No error message nothing - just gone, and my work with it. Between this and the crahsing when we try to plot my coworker and myself have crahsed 11 times in the last two days. I find that an appropriate coincidence since we are using V11. I knew not to get a X.0 release but it seemed so tempting, and the rhetoric was so convincing this time. When can we expect V11.5?

Is this possible? We use symbols exstensively. So when creating a report I can count symbols, and, I can summarize by name, but can I just count what on one layer at a time? Thanks -mickey

What gives? I've worked a bunch of VW11 SL4 voodoo to get the data back and forth, and I'm finally feeling like I've got a grip on it, but now when I enter data in the obj info pallette, some of my symbols turn into rectangles. wierd. It's not all the symbols, just some of them. Why?

When trying to import symbols from another file I sometimes get a runtime error and the program crashes. It seems to only do this if I haven't saved for a few minutes. I have not been able to reproduce the exact syntax to the crash, but it happens if I import more than one symbol. However since I have so many there's no way I can just do it one at a time. Anyone else seen this.

OK everybody here is missing the point. Both monitors work. All my little palettes are on the second monitor. When I click on the desktop in between the palettes some, but not all of the little palettes vanish. When I click back on the main body of the program the palettes come back. The palettes in question that vanish have a dark grey border around them, and the ones that don't stay consistant with a light grey border. So what does the dark grey border mean? And how do I get the palettes to stop the vanishing act?

That's right they do. They reapear when I click back in VW. The question is how do I make them not disapear in the first place?

Everything works fine in 9.5 I've been using dual monitors since 8.5. I remember 9.0 having a huge problem of not supporting dual monitors which didn't get fixed until 9.5. But that's not the case here right? Computer specs Win2K P4 2.4ghz RAM 1gb Video ATI Radeon 9600pro

OK what gives. I took the plunge and installed 11. I run dual monitors. When I click on a blank space on my desktop some of my palettes disapear. When I click on the drawing they reapear. Why? how do I make it stop?

Is it possible to save the workgroup reference in a drawing so that it is no longer a reference, but a permanent part of the drawing?

So myafter bugging my IT guy for VW 10.5 he lets me know that there is an 11. We talk about it for a bit, and we where concerned about being burned like we where with 9.0 Like JNR said " You all have a long way to go to convince those of us burned by 8.0, 9.0, and 10.0 that a new release is stable" Is 11 going to be more stable than 9, and 10? I know better than to buy a -.0 product from you because I've had issues in the past, but I'm tempted because I'm still in 9.5. Convince me.

I have a design jet 455ca, and I'm using the 4.63 driver. I know VW 9.5.x doesn't like thise version, and prints fills as solid items (among other things) I used to have a copy of the 4.5 driver but a recent hardrive failure lost that. So does anyone out there in tech land have a copy of the 4.5 they could let me have? And No HP won't send it to me. I tried. -Mickey

I don't use render works, and I never have. When I got a new computer the IT guy installed all the VW software we had including Renderworks. We only have on Liscense for RW and the 3D guy uses it. But everytime I launch the program I get the stupid pop up that says all my renderworks liscenses are in use. Ack! Help -Mickey

OK that sounds right. So why does the "container" class when set to active hide?
