I refer to the problem of using the "mirror and duplicate" tool. A very useful tool when cranking out large plots of redundant fixture clusters, or just drawing half a truss grabbing all fixtures and mirror and duplicating. The problem was when you did this the text in the label legends would get reveresed and be upside down. Why can you explain in 2 sentences what the manual can't in 2 chapters? OK I made that work. New question: Is there a way to know which viewports are on a given sheet without clicking on the various ports themselves?

I don't get it! I've created a viewport, and a new sheet. Great. Woo-hoo! Now I've added a layer. How do I get the new layer into the viewport/sheet. I looked in the help file, and it refers to being able to edit viewports like they are 2D object in the OIP. What? Where I've looked at all my layers and there isn't anything to click on so how can I edit it in my OIP. Where do these editable viewports live?

I love the full screen cursor. I guess I've just grown used to it disapearing behind a line. I like the idea of some kind of change to you know where your cursor went, but the color idea could be tricky as some people or maybe even lots of people use differnt colored lines. If that was what color would you make the line?

Hey Zen, It only refreshed the instruments you have selected. So if you only have one light selected near instant refresh but if you have a couple of hundred it can take awhile.

So using the method listed in answer to question 1 vieports are sensitive to which order you create them. Being that I now have the wrong layer on top. Is there a way to change which one is on top like I can a layer?

I never save over the default. I have a template that has my all my tool defaults set up, as well as symbols, and forms, and blah blah blah ...

Most web browsers now use tabs when opening multiple web pages. How about tabs for when opening multiple drawings? useful stuff if transferring objects from one drawing to another.

Windows 2k No viewports. PDF's print just fine, but I don't want to go through the making pddf's process and print form Acrobat I want to print directly from VW. I can print full color no problem.

I posted this in the printing section but there's been no response so I'm trying here. http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=22;t=000527 we just installed a new HPGL2 card with a differnt driver in hopes this would alleviate the problem WRONG. The problem still exists. I can print no problem with all layers turned on, but if even one layer is greyed out then it won't print correctly. With the new driver information is making it to the plotter but not all of the layers. This is definately something with how VW interacts with the print driver. Printing to a HP455ca has no problems at all.

I have new information. Working on a differnt file. I'd hit print, and it would go through the motions, and nothing at all would happen. So I oppened the print spooler, and tried several more times. The document would spool up but no data would get sent to the printer. I tried a third file and it printed just fine Ok what was differnt in file #3 was that no layers where greyed out. I went back to file #2 and turned all the layers on and it printed no problem. I went back to file #1 turned all layers on and it printed no problem as well. Bug? Is there anything I can do about this?

OK I've been using VW since v8. I've become pretty good at. Even doing some decent 3D renderings. But if I still can't get my classes to do what I think they should. Current delima. I use a lot of symbols. All of my symbols are created with the "none" class as their basic root. When I draw I'll select a class I want those symbols to be associated with. Fore example: Lighting-Fixture I drop the symbol on the screen, and select the symbol. OIP says class: lighting-fixture. OK, go to class options and select "grey others" and my symbol goes grey. If I make "none" the active class the symbol is still grey. In fact it doesn't matter what class I make active the symbol is still grey. Class options: show/snap/mod theres my symbol in all of it's black and white. In my class attributes I have "use at creation" checked which I thought was supposed to assign a class to a symbol when it got dropped on the drawing. Am I nuts? Am I trying once again to make the program do something it doesn't want to do?

I have a file that when I send it to the 500 it only prints the first 3 inches of the drawing then it spits out the rest of the sheet blank. Printing to a HP Design Jet 455ca has no problems at all. What gives? This is a W2k based machine printing to a networked HP500

I've looked all over the website for release notes, and I can't find any.

Seems like a simple enough idea. I use dual monitors, and have an extensive symbol libray broken to folders and sub folders. When I start a new drawing I move the symbols I want to use into a folder I call "current" That way I don't have to go searching all over for them. Why do I have to right click on each symbol and select "move" Also the idea of having 2 RB windows is appealing as this would speed up the process of moving resources around as well as allowing to have more access to resources. Thanks for listening.

We recently worked on a big show in Dallas. All the TD's had AutoCAD, all the LD's had VW. It created problems. It was decided that next year we'd hire TD's that used VW. I believe that kind of thinking shows the wide spread of VW in the entertainment industry. I used to see ACAD plots from LD's but I haven't seen one in a long time.

No we don't have the Digital Terrain Mapping package. And we still haven't got this to work. We're not giving up yet.

There are two of us in the office trying to figure this one out. We are trying to draw what would be a tent roof. The structure is 100'x200' with 10 center poles. So far we've tried using NURBS, and it isn't working out very well. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks -Mickey

I'm trying to use viewports, but I'm struggling to get this to look right. Maybe I'm trying to do something It can't do. Help! Here is what I want. I have drawn a structure in 3D. I would like to have a front view and top view on a single sheet of paper. So I created a sheet called "Truss" I created a viewport called "front". When I go to me sheet layer, there's the front view of my structure. Yeah! Now when I go to my top plan, and create another view port my stucture is located far away, and if I try to edit, and move things around it screws up the other view. What gives, and how do I make this work? In addition: Why is my structure located somewhere differnt when I change views? I draw something at coordinates 0,0 when I change views my coordinates are now 0, 170. Why? Why would the structure physically move when I change views.

You've lost me. Is that user button in LW or VW?
