I kinda posted this related question in the recent topic "Scaling&Layers ... hekp!!", but.....
Why not draw everything in a design layer at 1:1, and adjust the desired and final scale with a viewport? It seems like layers are useful only for separating elements by height, and we separate elements via classes.
We are trying to develop our cadd standards and adopt viewports, and determining the most efficient method is time consuming. It would be nice to have some tricks/tips explained on just how to set up production sheets; annotation is a hotly contested topic...... Viewports are useful and a huge step for VW, we just need to make them productive.
However, after posing the question above, I experimented with a simple garage plan and elevation, originally drawn @ 1/4". When the layer scale was changed to 1:1, the file really slows down - it's just too big to handle. But, computer speed notwithstanding, what's the real advantage of layer separation on a drawing that does not need height descriptions?
