Thanks for your responses! Unfortunately changing classes or editing my active class doesn't fix the problem - the issue expands across multiple files and classes. The eyedropper tool works fine, but I don't want to use it every time I draw a new object, this is very frustrating. I want to be able to draw a new shape instantly with the correct attributes...

Hey hey If anyone could help me with this fast I would greatly appreciate it. I'm using Vectorworks 2023 on a Mac - let's say I want to draw a rectangle in the same color and filling as an existing rectangle. What I always did was holding down OPTION & CMD, click on the existing rectangle and Vectorworks copied the attributes so I could draw identical objects. Now, for some reason, it doesn't work. No matter what I do, it always draws Text, shapes, lines with the same attributes and I cannot change them beforehand. Even when not selecting any objects, I cannot change any attributes. I always have to to draw it first, then change it. Please, help. Thanks Michael

Hey guys We just upgraded to Vectorworks 2023 and when double clicking on a staircase it no longer opens the screen to edit its geometry. A lot of people in my bureau annoyed by this - is there some way to change it like it used to be? Thanks in advance Michael

It's been almost 16 years, I assume there's a more efficient method of calculating the total length of polygons + single lines now? Anyone have a clue? Thanks! Michael

Hey guys So this is the first time I've had this issue. I'm working on a large file at the moment and while scrolling or working it's pretty smooth, until I suddenly get an intense lag spike where I can't work for several minutes. In the bottom right corner it always says "Saving images in memory". I hope that makes sense as I translated it directly from Dutch. I figured my images used for my drawings we're too big, but I already decreased them in size significantly (1000px / 4mb each) which did not resolve the issue. Any ideas on why this happens? Hey everyone, I received an old VWX file regarding a site I need for a project. I can't really see how old it is, but I assume about 10 years, which means I can't open it with my current 2020 / 2019 version. Is there a way to get around this? I have a student version and 2019 seems to be oldest version I can use. Any help would be amazing. Michael P.S. It's frustrating because I can actually see the drawings in the small icon of the file

So suddenly this happens to every line, shape, ... I draw and double click 🙄 Simply stopped ligning up for some reason

Hey guys, I've made a 3D model which I tried rendering using renderworks final. I noticed that when I zoom in and out of the visualisation, an outline shortly appears around the buildings, which I actually prefer esthetically. Is there a way I can manually add this outline in the final outcome? Thanks in advance Michael

@Boh Is there a fast way to do this? Or do I have to convert every single small building to a symbol and redraw its 2D polygon?

I created a simple polygon and extruded it. The fill colour is white, which I see in 3D, but not in 2D. I don't see a way to edit this, even when I double click on the extrusion, it shows the right colours, but once I look at it from top view, it's back to having no fill. Please help.

@mike m oz Any chance you could explain me how to create a custom symbol? 😁 If it's a big workaround you shouldn't bother though, it's crazy to me that programs like Vectorworks don't change this stuff emmediatly. These are the details that distinguish a mediocre program from a #1 on the market

@michaelk So they're 2 seperate window units with the same style. I changed the sash operation to Custom, but changing the mullion afterwards had no effect... I don't understand why it's so hard for this program to do simple things like making connected window frames without the strange line

Hey guys, I'm quite new to vectorworks and this is most likely easily solved, but I've been looking for a while and can't find the solution. When putting 2 windows right next to each other in a wall, there remains a horizontal line between them the size of the wall, as shown in the picture. How could I get rid of this? Thanks in advance, M
