  1. Im thinking along the same lines as Kevin for this. Completely separate from the issue itself, which even if it was working looks like it would take up to an hour to do each section, I don't think the results are going to be what you are looking to end up with. My machine is currently crunching away at creating a section from one of these hills, (no crash but its making a fuss.) Ill let you know the verdict either way however.
  2. Please send me that file at tech@vectorworks.net with the subject "ATTN Jim" and I can have a look. I wasn't able to get my tests here to do it but ive heard of this happening randomly to users before, however they couldn't get it to stay that way over the phone. In your email, please include this as well: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler
  3. Send this in to tech@vectorworks.net with the subject "ATTN Jim" please: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler I wasn't able to replicate it here at the moment, but ill see if i can find a close match to your system to test on. The sporadic issues are the hardest to track down, if you DO happen to find steps that replicate it every time please let me know.
  4. Does it appear to change if you zoom in or out, or if you save the file, restart Vectorworks then reopen? The line does still report a line type, correct? It hasnt reverted to an actual "Solid" for the pen? Also, is this in Vectorworks 2013 SP1 or SP4?
  5. It is definitely one to be submitted, however it seems like there may be two issues, one with the preview and one with the settings themselves, I cant tell if they are caused by the same problem or not. Ill post any results I find.
  6. I am very glad my posts are getting this type of response. It simply seemed like a go-between was needed in more of a technical manner than a marketing and public relations one. I am extremely grateful for all of the positive feedback. It has really started to resonate here and I am receiving amazing levels of support both inside the company and with our users. (I mean I haven't gotten a raise or a personal assistant to bring me coffee fresh from S?o Paulo every day YET but.. you never know  ) I know it sounds marketing-speak and exceedingly cheesy but I truly believe if we keep at it and keep combining our varied fields of expertise we can pin down and correct the long standing issues that impact us so heavily. Once those are cleared away we will be able to do much more. Things may still slip through the forum cracks and I may miss important posts or threads, but please feel free to refer me to any areas you think I can be of assistance either through private messaging or the Email Post function. There are many things that need tending to and I genuinely appreciate your patience and assistance. Also, if you have issues you have run into repeatedly over the years that don't seem to be being addressed in recent releases/service packs, feel free to dredge all of that up and we will shine the light of day upon it.
  7. Its mostly that there is no option for regular 2D fills to be "clear", there are opacity settings but they will apply to the entire object and a fill of none will also affect the entire object. It would definitely be a solid wishlist item though. Something like the addition of a "Clear color".
  8. File downloaded. Would you please reply with a screenshot of the direction/orientation you are trying to section? http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/892/How+to+take+a+Screen+Shot
  9. I have not seen anything like this so far. What font are you currently using? If you switch the objects temporarily to a(another) standard font such as Arial or Times New Roman, do you see the same problem occur after working with it for a bit?
  10. The answer was that VSS users are seeing that and a few other management options that have yet to be implemented. On the surface it seems easy, but the Service Select portal ties into all of our distributors as well in a variety of different ways. Once that gets sorted out among the various iterations employed by a number of our distributors and resellers, every contract manager will be able to admin their account as you would expect. In short, its coming eventually, but when it will arrive depends on a number of exceedingly intricate changes across lots of departments/companies, so I could not get an exact date.
  11. This is almost always an issue related to your graphics card or its drivers. Follow these steps to make sure your drivers are up to date: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/476/Updating+Graphics+Drivers If that doesnt work after a reboot, then follow these steps: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler and send the resulting file to tech@vectorworks.net and we can see whats going on.
  12. When I open your file, I do not see the same settings as are in your screenshot for the sill. However If I alter the settings on my end to match the ones in the screenshot of your dialogue box, I get these results:
  13. No problem, I'm submitting it and we will find out whats what.
  14. True, we have had the best luck using the Chrome and Firefox browsers: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/715/Alternate+Browsers
  15. Checking with the VSS folk now. (I would assume there would be no reason to not have the option to delete users if you also have the option to add and administer them.)
  16. More that inappropriate content is often an "accomplice" to the larger problems. Im totally on board for something like that, however I am not sure who I would address such a broad-ranging feature request to specifically. I'll see about putting it in as a wishlist item at the very least. If nothing else, I am working on a procedure for users to more easily and quickly identify issues in geometry like this. I'm no Vectorscript master so it would still be relatively hands-on, but hopefully something easier than tearing the file apart piece by piece.
  17. Are you trying to download all 6 of them at once? It may be the server throttling your speed if you have a lot of them all at the same time. However, even the huge libraries like Landmark (3.5ish GB) should download on a broadband connection within an hour. If you start the download on Architect or Fundamentals by themselves, what is the speed you are seeing? Also, how are you currently connected to the internet? Some wireless connection can drop the larger files.
  18. By batch render, are you referring to starting a render on a large number of viewports saved by a saved view, to using the Publish features saved sets, or do you mean the View > Rendering > Create Batch Render Job command? (Sorry for the seemingly silly clarification, but I have had a number of users use the terms interchangeably.)
  19. Yep, almost everyone that I have seen that used Migration Assistant to transfer the Vectorworks application runs into these problems. Either the procedure described in the above post by monkey, or a full uninstall and reinstall is normally required to correct it: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1105/Uninstalling+Vectorworks
  20. Thank you. I have had problems in the past with objects that have that many vertices, on occasion temporarily disabling selection highlighting has helped me work on a very complex model. You can try this if you like, Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > Interactive , then uncheck Cursor Preselection Highlighting. I have also had luck with disabling the full Selection highlighting there as well, but again thats simply my suggestion as a workaround for more complex models. We will work with your file once I get it and see whats causing the overall problem.
  21. Could you place one of the problematic furniture items in a new, blank test file and send it to tech@vectorworks.net ? We can take a closer look. Also, please send us a screenshot of what surfaces you've selected as well before attempting the push/pull: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/892/How+to+take+a+Screen+Shot
  22. It looks like this is something that is being addressed in a service pack, most likely the first SP for Vectorworks 2014. However in the meantime, it has been suggested by engineering that you try setting your OpenGL detail on the design layer, changed under View > Rendering > OpenGL Options, to match the OpenGL detail set in your Viewport's OpenGL preferences. For instance, set them both to Medium or High, not different values. (I was not able to replicate the issue on my machines here so I cannot reproduce the workaround to confirm, I am passing on the suggestion directly from engineering. Please let me know if it changes what you are seeing.)
  23. Just checked it this morning and it is indeed up and working. They will have to scroll to the bottom of the Downloads page on the Student Portal, but then they should be able to select Vectorworks 2014. If they can't for some reason, make sure to have them contact tech@vectorworks.net and we can get them set up.
  24. Im not really sure about location-based dates, however the English language version of Vectorworks 2014 is indeed available for download: http://www.vectorworks.net/trial/2014
