  1. I have found a number of similar cases in our issue tracking system here. It is likely that this will be corrected in SP1 for Vectorworks 2014 due to a number of other corrections made to fix various other related issues.
  2. Inadvertent features, for the win! Unless DaveD had this as part of his master plan the entire time... As a general question for architectural users, is this exceedingly useful as a feature? Should it be showcased as a tech tip so that other users can be made aware of it?
  3. This video (if a little dated) covers the process as well: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/811/Generic+Solids
  4. This may be what you are looking for: http://www.vectorworks.net/training/getting-started-guides/common/instrument-summary.php However you can also create more customizable lists with Tools > Reports > Create Report, then select the type of object you want to create a worksheet of.
  5. Ive had the same problem (mainly due to the fact that I have 6-10 versions of vectorworks installed at any given time) and on OS X I have never been able to get around it, unfortunately. Even the steps given by Apple to associate ALL versions of a file type with a particular app just do not seem to stick. I first noticed this problem in Vectorworks, but I now see it with Screenflow, Adobe CS and a few other software packages.
  6. Submitted as a request! (I pressed the SUBMIT button as hard as I possibly could.)
  7. The official list is here, it has been cleaned up recently I believe ( there were a lot of old dead links that needed to be removed): http://www.vectorworks.net/community/addons/products.php?cat=symbols As for those specific types of resources, I am not sure.
  8. I have found a few users with similar problems, even though they should have full administrative access. Taoist, would you please send in your installerlog to tech@vectorworks.net so we can see if it is a problem occurring during installation? (You should be able to find InstallerLog.txt inside your Vectorworks 2013 folder under Program Files/Program Files x86)
  9. Correct, a large chunk of the default plant objects are 2D only. Most of the 3D plant symbol content is separated into the Renderworks Xfrog library and a few other libraries. However, what rendering modes are these viewports in? Are the design layers you are working with all at the same scale?
  10. i7. An i5 is a fairly minor cost savings compared to how significantly better the i7 CPU is. Just looking at the raw numbers won't always prove it, but I have used both on both Macs and Windows and the i7 is far superior.
  11. I doubt its the mouse itself in that case, moreso something what the software that controls the custom mappings for multiple clicks. However I have never had any user with an issue like that before.
  12. The Rotate tool is in the basic palette, it lets you set the first point as the point of rotation, which is probably what you are looking for. The Rotate tool wont scale the line like the reshape tool does.
  13. I am not able to replicate this here in a new blank test file. Could you please post a sample file where it has occurred for you? (Saving before attempting the crash)
  14. If you go to File > Document Settings > Document Preferences and enable Black and White Only after the import, do the colors change? (However, I do recall a change being made to how colors from DWGs were handled sometime after 2012, but Ill have to check with someone about the specifics.)
  15. You'll be able to find any custom ones you made in 2013 under: /Users/(Yourusername)/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/2013/Libraries/Defaults/Color Palettes You can then copy it, close all versions of Vectorworks, then place it in the corresponding location for Vectorworks 2014: /Users/(Yourusername)/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/2014/Libraries/Defaults/Color Palettes If you cant see your "Library" folder under your user folder, open your user folder, then hold down the alt/Option key on your keyboard and click Go > Library from the menu bar at the top of your screen.
  16. The closest thing I am aware of to this is the "PhotoGrid" tool that comes with Spotlight. It can measure illumination but I believe it only works with Lighting Device objects.
  17. Under File > Export > Export DXF/DWG, under Class/Layer Conversions, do you have Export as DWG Layers set to "Layers"? If so and its still doing that, please send your VWX file (not the 2013 conversion, the first one) to tech@vectorworks.net and we can have a look.
  18. 1) If you create a symbol out of a simple square, (maybe 400mmx400mm) and use that as the symbol for a seating layout, then recheck the measurements, do they seem to be off? (Its looking like something that needs to be submitted, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't related to the symbol.) 2) I think this is occurring because the focus point does not relocate when the boundary of the seating layout is reshaped, so the point that was previously the "center of mass" in the seating layout boundary that the focal point was lined up with is now off to the side in relation to the focus. I see this as a bit confusing, but i'm not sure if having the focus point move around when reshaping the boundary would be better or worse?
  19. The easiest way is normally to place a locus at that point, then select that locus along with the rest of the objects and use Modify > Group, then you can use that locus as a snap point for dragging and all the objects can then be rotated at the same time, alignment controlled by the Rotate tool.
  20. Extract can be found in the Tool Sets Palette under "3D Tools"
  21. Im thinking Modify > Convert > Replace with Symbol would work for the step of swapping the loci with the colored circle symbol with no problem. The above of course requires a specific selection, perhaps Select Similar tool, with its options set so that Database Records acts as the filter? If you can post a sample VWX of some of the imported objects or the whole file I can give it a shot.
  22. Confirmed here. In this case it isn't even the Sweep problem we were seeing elsewhere with the Seg angle set entirely too small. 5 degrees (what its set to in this file) is perfectly reasonable. Submitting with the example file now.
  23. I had found this before but completely forgot. At the very least ill make a kbase article explaining that workflow.
  24. Thats a VERY good one, adding both to the request list now.
  25. Yup, identical results here. Doesn't occur when I assign the hatch directly to the round wall, but if I use class attributes to assign the hatch it vanishes at a sweep of 360. Fine at 1.0 through 359.99, but no hatch at 360. Submitting this as an issue now. Thank you.
