After you get complex objects modified by complex objects further altered by MORE complex objects, this tends to happen.
The best fix pre-2009 is to taxe the two objects you wish to operate on, and convert them to a generic solid BEFORE doing the subtract/add/fillet. You dont need to do both of the objects all the time, and sometimes just the components of complex objects or their subcomponents need be changed to generic solids in order to alleviate this.
(Modify > Convert > Convert to Generic Solids)

If iTunes isn't running, it means your installation of QuickTime is bad.
Uninstall and reinstall Quicktime, 7.5 seems to be doing fine across the board.
-
Failing all of that, this issue is often corrected on Macs by going to Tools>Options>VectorWorks Preferences, under the Display tab, and toggling the setting for "Quartz Imaging"
While you're there, make sure "Hardware Accelerated 2D Navigation" is on as well.

If you have a professional copy you can call customer service and they can perform a platform switch, the same disk will work for Mac/Win but the pro serial numbers are keyed to a specific OS.
If you're using the EDU version then it can run on either OS with one serial number.

Fred,
There is an easier way to do this by adding the title block to your default content and using the Issue Manager.
Please view the following video tech tips:
Custom Title Block:

Mike,
Go to the VW Preferences, then click the Display tab and try turning on Hardware Accelerated 2D Navigation. Also try toggling the Quartz Imaging from whatever its current setting is set to.

Go to Help > About VectorWorks then click the Check for updates button to update to SP3. Also try turning off GDI Imaging.
-
mcobbs,
Please send a copy of the file to tech@nemetschek.net for further troubleshooting. Please include your OS, and current build of VW.
Thanks,

My apologies for not being clear in the previous post. Open Type fonts are not supported when using the GDI Imaging options.
If you are having trouble using a specific font please contact tech support, tech@nemetschek.net, so that we further investigate the problem.

Kevin,
Assigning different wall components to different classes was a new feature of VW 2008. So is not available in VectorWorks 12.
-
Simon,
If you use Stack Layers instead of layer links you can set any layers opacity independently of the other layers.
-
Sarah,
I did not get any returned emails while testing the Student Services email, please try again. Also as Pat mentioned, VectorWorks 12.5.3 is not available for educational users. So please request a copy of VectorWorks 2008, so that you are compatible with Leopard.
-
Chris,
What build of VW 2008 are you running?
-
Just to clarify, some Open Type fonts may work but VectorWorks only supports True Type and Post Script fonts.
-
CS1,

Dworks,
I am able to duplicate this issue and will be forwarding the information along to engineering team. I will reply back with a workaround if one becomes available.
-
Lightnb,
Refer the user that sent you the file to Student Services at studentservices@nemetschek.net to have the files converted. Also have the user include there serial number in the email so that he/she can be sent a new serial number to prevent this issue in the future.

Jim,
The easiest way around this:
1) On one of the machines, set it up with the favorite files the way you like it and with the correct workspace.
2) Go to File > Exit specifically, to close Vectorworks. (Not the X at the top right.) This will save the preferences into the user folder.
3) Copy the folder from the following (default) location:
C:\Documents and Settings\(Username)\Application Data\Nemetschek\VectorWorks\2008
4) Place this folder in the corresponding location on any machine you wish to keep the same settings. It will open Vectorworks with the workspace you chose, as well as the whole favorites library.
No quick option to place a VW icon on the desktop unfortunately, that would have to be modified in the machines' images beforehand.
