  1. Similar results here, "strangely" is how I would describe it as well. Submitting it now, thank you.
  2. Could you describe a scenario that has a repeatable problem with that tool? It has been misbehaving for awhile now and anything specific you can tell me it is doing incorrectly would help.
  3. Confirmed in apparently all views other than Top/Plan, thank you. Working fine in previous versions, submitting it now.
  4. Its possible, however in your file once I turn on all layers and classes, i see multiple Site Model objects configured similarly, was this intentional? I have had this cause problems before when they are at the same location and have modifiers on the same layers.
  5. I don't think so, but it happens to many of my users from time to time. I'ts very easy for a user to just click "never ask me again" as an automatic reaction to various dialogues, since there are so many first-time alerts. I haven't come across it personally, but I reset my preferences to the stock defaults so many times during the day to test various issues that I would never notice if I did.
  6. If I edit the site model source data, select it all and copy it, then in a new blank document, create a site model from those 3D contours, it seems to modify the site correctly when I draw a straight landscape wall and apply the same overall grade limit you had in the original. Let me know if you get the same results if you perform the same steps. Something is still amiss, just trying to locate it specifically.
  7. Currently this is only controllable (partially) though the OS font settings. Feature requests have been submitted to make the fonts used in the Vectorworks UI controllable separately from within the application itself.
  8. Still tracking it now, sorry its taking so long. Getting exactly the same problems you are describing in some files, even some new files, but not all. Still trying to track it down to a specific issue. I will keep you posted.
  9. Apologies, I read it as you had one symbol you wanted to do this with. Matt's solution is far superior if you are going to be doing it repeatedly/for multiple symbols.
  10. Usually if it is a wireframe selection glitch like that, moving it into a new document just resets the highlighting. If it was a layer configuration problem, it would have been more than just the highlighting. Copying into a new doc is a good way to get away from possible corrupted or stuck objects, you can use this as a more automated way of regenerating files that are experiencing problems: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/790/Layer+Import But sheet layers will need to be recreated.
  11. If you want a very specific recommendation, I use a Lenovo Y510P and it works wonderfully with Vectorworks. A laptop that runs Vectorworks well is going to be a bit pricey however, since you do not want one with an Intel integrated card. I have seen users claim Intel Iris graphics run acceptably, but haven't had the chance to confirm it here. For a little bit of future proofing, you will want a minimum of 8GB of RAM. A Video card capable of OpenGL 4.1 and its own dedicated 1GB of memory minimum. For the processor, I recommend an i5 or an i7, the equivalent in AMD processors should be fine. But if you do any kind of Renderworks renderings, you will want 4+ cores. Switching to Mac is now more of a personal preference than anything else. I have users on both OSes. (I'd guess it was a 60/40 split Mac/Windows for users that call.) The MacBook Pros with dedicated graphics work well with Vectorworks, but can be quite pricey. Effectively, if you can get near the specs of either of the machines in my signature, you should see good results.
  12. You're almost there. In the database header row for that worksheet (Usually just the whole number, as in "2", not "2.1", "2.2" etc) right click or control click on the row number, then choose Set Criteria. You should only need to add one set of criteria to accomplish this, Symbol - Is - (Symbol name). You can click the small button to the right of the last field to select from a list of symbol names. The worksheet should then only be displaying the symbols that share the same name. This series covers worksheets in more detail if you want to have a look:
  13. It is possible you checked the box for "Always do this..." and then selected No the last time the dialogue appeared. To see if that is the problem, you can reset those dialogues under Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > Session > Reset Saved Settings, check only the "Always do selected action" option and click OK. That should reset the dialogues so they will ask you again if you want to perform operations like linking viewports to cameras and use selected geometry for viewport crops, etc.
  14. You will have to convert those resource files into the new format before doing what was suggested above: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/784/Batch+Conversion+of+older+Vectorworks+files
  15. Nevermind, someone just forwarded your email to me, taking a look now.
  16. Send me that file after you have imported it into the latest version please, I did not see it in 2014 sp3.
  17. That is the impression I am getting as well. I am of course, impatient, but its headed that way. You are very welcome.
  18. I want that so badly as well. There is a kind of editing called Poly Edit in 3DS Max and a few other 3d modeling applications that allow this, essentially you can create/control the number and orientation of polygons that make up a 3D solid, then edit those directly. This explains the basics pretty well: Currently in Vectorworks, there is no way to increase or decrease the polygons that make up a surface manually. This is done automatically in a few cases, like when mesh objects are imported or 3D solids are converted to 3D polygons, but they aren't as editable as shown in the video above. I am not sure whether trying to improve the "history" system for container objects like Solid Subtractions and Solid Additions would be a better idea, or to introduce a completely new system like the one detailed above. Or of course, that time-honored tradition of: "DO BOTH!" In any case, I will add a note about this thread in the 3D Poly Edit request.
  19. Do you think this could be resolved by a preference setting for the tool, controlling what/how complex the resulting object was? something like: Create Solid Additions/Subtractions Create Solid Additions/Subtractions - (Limit history to X containers) Create Generic Solids ?
  20. It is normally easier to draft on a flat plane with the Polygon or Polyline tools instead, then Convert the geometry into a NURBS curve afterwards.
  21. If you place one of those solid subtractions with a hole in it into a file by itself, does it render then, or still crash? If you convert that object to a generic solid (Modify > Convert > Convert to Generic Solids) does it then render either in the original file or in the file by itself? In any case, please send me that file/object at the address in my signature and I can have a closer look.
