  1. A few of these look like I've submitted them already, will get the rest on the list now.
  2. If you attempt to Save As to the desktop of one of these machines, does it save as expected or give the same error?
  3. Nothing wrong with those specs at all. The only thing I would change would be the graphics card -IF- you're going for multiple displays or a single very high res display in the 4K range. For multiple 1080p displays consider a GTX 760 or GTX 770. For a couple high res displays I highly recommend the GTX 970 (just got one myself and it lays waste to all tasks I set before it). Nothing wrong with the AMD R7 or R9 series cards though either, I'm just an Nvidia guy by habit.
  4. We have not been able to lock it down to a specific cause. The discussions have moved more towards a replacement, but no official word yet. Pushing for a superior forum/kbase solution.
  5. Yes, it's been requested that it be added to OpenGL as well in a wishlist item.
  6. Currently for most 3D objects yes, you have to extract its faces and texture them individually, the extracted faces are not tied to the original object by default, you'd have to group them or make a symbol or something similar. Full-on UV mapping isn't needed to address this initially, it would simply be a big hammer of a feature. In the middle, an enhancement could be allowing texture mapping of each individual face without having to explode/extract various faces, sort of how wall components and their different faces work, but there isn't anything built in like this yet in most objects.
  7. Not sure. Half the users loved the switch and half didn't. Its a personal preference thing for a lot of people, I think making it quicker to switch will alleviate the majority of the frustration. The more control the user has over everything, the better, even if the defaults can't be agreed upon.
  8. The Sills class needs to be turned on to see the swing, if thats what you mean. Also it has to be Top/Plan view rather than just Top.
  9. I have it wishlisted. It drives me nuts too. When you're going for photorealistic renderings, even a relatively simple one room static rendering with no animation is made much more difficult by the need to break everything apart.
  10. If you render on the design layer, it can become stuck. Often tabbing out of the app to change the OS focus (switching to Finder, for instance) and then back in will then allow you to cancel it. There are a few different requests to improve this behavior significantly.
  11. Woops... I hadn't specified that it be a document pref, amending it now. Apologies.
  12. Yup yup, a doc quickpref switching of the default render mode as a separate setting for the default projection went on the list.
  13. It will stay however you set it in this version, but not if they have the default set differently in the next release of Vectorworks. You would need to set it back again. Unless the wishlist item for settings/templates/workspace migration goes through. I sincerely hope it does.
  14. You are very welcome. Apologies, I always think in terms of the most recent version only. If you want backwards compatibility, you want Windows. Even on Windows 8.1 you can get Vectorworks 8.5 running. On the Mac side that requires... some small amount of sorcery.
  15. Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > 3D, there you can set the desired render mode and projection. If you want to make it exactly like previous versions, use Wireframe and Orthogonal.
  16. Are you able to cause this problem intentionally, after restarting clears it?
  17. Looks like they may have already caught this, if not I will submit it as a new issue. I see a number of things about linear materials in the patch pipe.
  18. Is this only appearing in the design layer renderings, or do you see them in a viewport created from that view as well? Also if possible, please post a screenshot of the lines: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/892/How+to+take+a+Screen+Shot
  19. http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1291/ClamXav+
  20. It doesn't get any Renderworks guts at all from what I recall. I think I have seen a request for this in the past, if not I'll submit a request now.
  21. I am not seeing Vectorworks 2015 behave as you describe, but I have heard similar reports recently. Can you send a file where you are seeing that problem in to tech@Vectorworks.net? Mark out (with rectangles is fine) a few spots where marquee is misbehaving, i'll test it here. Please include this from your machine as well: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler I wasnt able to replicate in a test file but sometimes after rendering complex geometry odd issues crop up that may not occur in a simple test like I performed here.
  22. There is no flat out benefit on working with Vectorworks on either a Mac or a PC specifically. As long as it has been properly configured, it will work identically on comparable hardware. Mac and Windows machines are prone to different issues, I have equal calls and email issues from both camps pretty much, they just have different symptoms and solutions. If you want a monitor as well, the current 5K iMac is an extremely good price since it includes such a high res display. The Mac Pros are excellent for working with Vectorworks, but unfortunately we do not yet support multiple graphics cards, so you are paying for more than VW can use. Macs tend to have better resale value, but often have limited or no hardware upgrade options for anything other than hard drive and RAM. On the Windows side, resale is crap but it is easier to upgrade the graphics hardware later on if you go with a desktop configuration and that lets you extend the usable life of your machine significantly. So they both offer ways of either recouping or extending your money. The ecosystems used to be significantly different, but many applications now work on both, or at least have equivalents. I use both constantly now and other than a few niche pieces of software (Screenflow on Mac) there isn't much I can do on one that cant be done on the other.
