  1. The "Rise" allows you to control the angle, but that seems like an odd parameter, if nothing else a degree value as a secondary way to control the slope would be superior. Submitting now. As for the vertical rise of both sides, a negative "rise" value allows you to slope the opposite direction, if thats what you mean? I would think a degree value entered in the negative as the rise can be would address this as well, unless i'm misunderstanding.
  2. Confirmed on OS X 10.9, did not occur on Windows 7 64bit. Submitting as an issue now.
  3. Did this start happening specifically after the SP1 update or did you see it before? If you create a new viewport of the same geometry on a new sheet layer, does the same problem crop up right away or does it work properly, at least for the moment? Are these issues only occurring in OpenGL, not any other rendering modes?
  4. Could anyone experiencing this attach an example VWX file where it is actively occurring, please?
  5. As to why they were not included, no idea, however if they were not added to the door tool with the release of 2014, it is unlikely that it will be changed until the next release.
  6. I am not seeing a rendering speed issue in this file, even with over 128 duplicates on an older iMac than yours. My test results here (it may be a few minutes before you can view it, its currently processing and may appear as "Private" until its finished): The final copy operation did take awhile, ~60 seconds to duplicate the 64 I had previously to 128, but the rendering speed did not seem to be affected any more than it would have if the objects were not in DLVP form. Are you seeing this issue across multiple machines? If you backup and reset your preferences to default, as described here: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1099/Resetting+Vectorworks+Preferences -does the same slowness occur?
  7. My preference would be to make converting/upgrading of files more reliable (converting to v2014 has been a reasonably good experience for us). This, surely, is the ultimate solution as it allows everyone to take advantage of advances straight way and forget about supporting multiple versions of VW within an office. This is particularly the case when you have projects that span over multiple years. ^ This. The main upgrade pain point that users call in with is (more commonly than OS compatibility) issues with file conversion and workspace import/preferences migration to the new version. If we can remove these snags from the upgrade process, the Service Select program and upgrading yearly will become much more appealing.
  8. If you want to stick with lines or polygons instead of an object with a hatch fill for a particular reason, you can also use Edit > Duplicate Array, a Linear Array will let you duplicate your line at the increments you want. Do this twice and rotate one of the sets of duplicates 90 degrees for a grid.
  9. I do not see this same behavior with a number of tested DWGs. Are all DWG files doing this for you or only one/a few? If it is happening only with one or a few DWG files, make sure to contact tech@vectorworks.net with those files and we can have a look. Otherwise, you may want to backup and reset your preferences with Vectorworks closed: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1099/Resetting+Vectorworks+Preferences
  10. Go ahead and email your local support with the file in that case, along with a description of your crashing as well as possibly one of the files in question (if email attachment limits permit)
  11. This is covered in some degree here, even though its more OS X users with slightly different issues, a solution is needed for both Mac and Windows UIs: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=190320#Post190320
  12. Specifically this please: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler
  13. You can attach it here, or contact your local tech support directly and they can have a look to see why the crashes are occurring: http://www.vectorworks.net/international/
  14. I'll need the same details asked for above, in addition to this as well, please: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler
  15. It should not be, no, are you able to repeatedly cause the crash intentionally with a particular series of steps? Does the same crashing happen even in a new blank file or only in more complex/converted files?
  16. I've noticed at least one black rectangle showing in the finder file preview in Vectorworks 2014/RW - but I am running it on OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, with a recent update. These seem to be occurring when the users save the file while in a 3D view in OpenGL. Are these the same circumstances you see the solid black preview icon in?
  17. I would not recommend it, Vectorworks 2012 is not compatible with the latest OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
  18. I have heard reports from users that it is not. I ran it here and it did open after uninstalling and reinstalling, but did not appear to be stable and crashed during closing.
  19. I have no authority to speak about how we price or what/why features get into specific releases (that is a subject far above my paygrade) but truly, many of the current major software packages are going in a number of odd directions. Adobe for instance fully intends to move their entire CS suite to a model which essentially makes the software something you lease or rent (Creative Cloud), which I don't really know how I feel about. On one hand, it sort of make sense in many scenarios where you only use Photoshop or another package during some parts of the year and not others. On the other hand, it means that you are not able to stay with an older version of a software that you paid for fully, a feature that many users still prefer. Apple has now effectively set the standard of supplying their OSes completely free of charge, recuperating this expense in the hardware and mobile device markets instead. However, Apple drops support for older hardware on average between 3 and 5 years old, essentially forcing their user base to put money into the hardware line, so that they don't suffer from the loss of profit in making their OS $0. From my own personal standpoint, I see it thusly: I can not help users that are more then 3 years or 3 versions back, simply because of compatibility concerns that crop up. If a person is on the most recent version, I can rig up a machine with their OS and their version, check the issue, verify if it is user error or a software problem, then go from there. I keep my main two computers (both a Mac and PC always) and software as up to date as possible at all times, keeping extra computers around with older OSes in order to troubleshoot, but this is just my corner of the world and the things I deal with on a daily basis. I suppose what I'm saying is, selling software has come a long way from buying a cartridge and booting directly to it on my Commodore 64. The advent of omnipresent internet access across most of the world as well as software companies needing to general not only profit, but RELIABLE profit has led most of them to the subscription/cloud model. It makes financial sense but does indeed change the way CAD, Graphic Design, IT companies etc, purchase tools and do business. Things in major software companies' release structures are changing and we are definitely between worlds at the moment. The best I can do is provide as much information as possible to as many users as possible, even when it is bad news in some of the above cases, which I take no pleasure in delivering.
  20. My fault, it is compatible and is reported by testing here and multiple users that things seem to be working fine. If there are any major issues we have missed, they will be corrected in an SP. Chart corrected.
  21. This is the current list I was able to find as well: Looks like most lists that came out before Mavericks point to this article as the original source: http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/06/11/macs-capable-of-running-os-x-mountain-lion-likely-compatible-with-os-x-109-mavericks Apple now has it listed officially as posted above: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842
  22. He meant how are you liking the SP so far, "How are you finding" is an expression.
  23. Should be the 'B' key. The full manual can be found within the Vectorworks Help application, on the contents bar at the left hand side, under "PDF Files" it will list them.
