  1. It's pretty hard to see what's wrong without the vwx file...
  2. I'm trying to modify the story level and update the viewport in one script. I think the modifications to the story level are effective only after the script has ended. So the viewport update doesn't return the wanted result within the same script. If I run the script twice, the viewport will update... Too bad.
  3. Is there a way to refresh a (section)viewport in a script?
  4. This does the trick: import vs hLayer = vs.FLayer() hStory = vs.GetStoryOfLayer(hLayer) while (hStory == ""): hLayer = vs.NextLayer(hLayer) hStory = vs.GetStoryOfLayer(hLayer) sStory = vs.GetName(hStory) Thanks for the help!
  5. Thanks for the reply, Pat. GetStoryLayerTemplateName returns the name to the first layer in the story template. That's not a handle to the story :-(
  6. Is there a way to get a handle to the lowest Story in a file? For layers there is vs.GetFLayer(), But I can't find a similar way to get the lowest Story...
  7. We have the same problem with one of our customers. One user cannot import pdf files without a crash (VW 12.5.2 French). The other users are able to import pdf's, no problem. The users are all on OS 10.4.9, and use a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT on a MacPro1,1, 4 processors, Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 2.66 GHz, 2 GB.
  8. We seem to have problems exporting to PDF in the Industry Series VectorWorks. When exporting with the export from the Foundation version, it works, no problem. The export from the Architect Vrsion generates no file at all!!! Anybody?
  9. Hello, Did anyone manage to find out how the Light Distribution Files (Eulum) work. I do seem to get the strangest results, but I can't figure out how to aim those light sources... What's the trick?
  10. Please stop the way of creating openings in walls using the rubberband idea. Couldn't it just be a 3D-polygon or NURBS that determins the opening shape in the wall?
  11. I'm using a PowerBook Ti 1GHz with 1GHzs ram and have never had any speed problems. I'm pretty sure the ram is most important. I'm regularly running several versions of VW together with maybe 5 or 6 other softwares.
  12. I'm wondering wether this is a mistake, something that has been forgotten, or something I'm doing wrong. When I insert a symbol with 2 loci (1 on the left 1 on the right) in a wall, the wall opens fine. When I try to insert a symbol with several loci on each side (the wall caps have to be not-straight), the wall doesn't disapear behind the symbol. Although it did in VW 10.5. What can we do? VW 11.0 Mac OSX 10.3.4
  13. Would it be possible to edit walls (for 2D vieuws) like we can edit columns with 'edit group'. This would be great the few times VW doesn't manage to clean up wall joins the way we want. Editing the wall contours like we can edit a polygon (like you can do in the column group) could solve this, I think... I don't know what I'm asking would be possible, but I guess it should be. Thanks, [ 05-13-2003, 08:22 AM: Message edited by: Peter Vandewalle ]
  14. While you're at it, please make it possible to duplicate array by clicking but not only the new center point but also the starting point as a reference point.
  15. I made a plug-in that does just that... Move or copy from reference point to reference point(s). You can find it at the VectorDepot. (Pt2PtMove & Pt2PtCopy).
  16. Hi, for the last few days I keep getting unexpected quits from VW 9.5.3. I never had this before... Can anybody tell me what's going on? VW 9.5.3 incl. RW in iMac 400MHz running MacOS 10.2.4 Peter
  17. About printing quality, you can change the printing resolution in the preferences dialogs somewhere, standard it is set to 72 dpi. Just put it to 240 dpi or more. It will take a lot of time (like: minutes...) because RW will re-render the picture but you'll be happy with the results. About the shades on a frontal view (non-perspective) it works fine by me. I even had an file where I layer-linked the same model 3 times (one above the other) to 1 layer to make a fast lay-out to print. The only thing I did was adding some point-light sources to avoid having the shade from one layer-link on the other. And I had shades on all three of the views.
  18. When I run VW 9.5(.1) in MacOS X, it 'messages' that some of the tools aren't found in the plug-in folder after I exit the workspace editor. When I run VW 9.0.1, VW 9.5 or VW 9.5.1 on Mac OS 9.2.1 and I try the same routine VW just freezes. The tools (or at least the files) are definitely in the folder. When I try to use some of the tools that VW lists as missing in the plug-in folder, some of them do not work but others do. When I try to eduit the tool's script in the plug-in editor, they aren't listed.Do I have to re-install my VW? Will that solve the problem? Or is there another way? Thanks for taking the time to read this and to try to understand it!Peter.
  19. I have RW 9.0.1 installed all-right, but RW 9.5 didn't install, allthough I entered my RW serial#. Do I re-install RW 9.0.1 and retry to re-install VW & RW 9.5 again? Thanks for so much help.
  20. Hey thanx, That works. For VW at least. But doesn't VW 9.5.1 support RW? I've lost that possibility... I'm sorry to be such a pain. If you wouldn't be at the other end of the world you'd have earned a lunch by now...
  21. Where do I find the RW library? How is it called? Are you sure about this? My VW 9.0.1 is working fine, the updater for VW 9.5.0 and 9.5.1 and 3D Powerpack didn't give any error messages. It's only when I'm starting up VW 9.5.1 or VW 9.5.0 that I'm having this message...
  22. VW 9.5.1 asks for this file... I'm running OS9.2.1. Can someone help me?
  23. I'm having problems with a 3D I made. When I ask it to render (openGL or RW) it appears to show exactly nothing. When I use one layer instead of the model (with layer links) it renders fine. The objects in the drawing are quite complex substractions / addictions. Can anyone give me a hint?
  24. I forgot: Let us join walls to roofs while we're at it too.And why can't walls be non-vertical? Thanks
  25. Why does the upper side of a roof always is a vertical face? I like to draw assymetric roofs... Could there be a 'join' function on roofs so we could join roof faces like we do with walls?
