  1. Since the release of landscape areas using styles, I have experienced an issues with the 2D/plan view that can only be resolved by disassociating the style. It seems that when using the landscape area by style, it auto-generates a 2d component that does not follow the path, but instead represents a square. See screenshots and vwx for reference. 2. It would be really great if there was a way to create a viewport style that would save visible classes and layers to be applied to viewports. This could be especially useful when working on projects where the layout has to be broken up across multiple sheets that show different areas but the same information. This way if you update the viewport style it would apply to all sheets with that style. Thanks!
  3. @ericjhberg @Tamsin Slatter I think a great first step would be "send to" options. Send to surface, Send to Hardscape, Send to Wall. This would make it easy to place stakes in plan view, then send and place them at the proper elevation. Currently we place 3d stakes on hardscapes as use them as site modifiers. We use a data tag to callout those elevation on sheet layers. We have constant problems with Aligned Hardscapes as surface modifiers (DTM hangs and will not update or is VERY slow), so we find it more efficient to use the Aligned modifiers to create our hardscape layout, slope, etc, then place the 3d stakes as needed to grade the site. The challenging part of this workflow is we have to modify the location of the 3d stakes as we modify the hardscape elevations and slopes. It would be great if we could do it plan view in one simple click. Just a thought... MLM
  4. @Andy Broomell I am on 2020. I should probably go ahead and switch over. Thanks for the info!
  5. @Sean Hufnagel did you ever figure this out? I am trying to get the same functionality. A leader that points to an object that you can assign a correlating detail to. Thanks,
  6. @Nikolay Zhelyazkov Thanks for the info! I'll give this a shot.
  7. @Nikolay Zhelyazkov We are currently using 2020. Working with tech support we found a bug. You have to set the background distance to 'infinite' in order for the data tags to work. If you want to hide the background just create a class with no fill, no line. Hopefully they have fixed this in 2021. We are switching over as we start new projects. Kind regards, Matthew Murrey
  8. We have switched over to mostly annotating our plans using Data Tags. Problem is, I cannot get seem to get the Data Tag to work in section/elevation viewports. I would like to be able to do a workflow similar to top/plan viewports in which you can apply data tags in the viewport annotations. Anyone have any experience with this? Also, is there a way to scale data tags across multiple drawing scales? When I use the scale options, the leader marker does not change with the symbol and text. I've added a few screenshots for reference. Thanks, Matthew
  9. What is the best workflow for creating drainage plans in VWX LM 2019? I am currently working on a site that will have a combination of trench drains located across paving, landscape area catch basins, roof/gutter drains, all of which need to be connected and discharged away from the residence. I am assume the collection trenches and boxes should be a symbol with a site modifier attached for modifying the DTM, however I am curious about the piping. Can irrigation tools be used in some capacity to create a network? It would be great if there were drainage network tools that could calculate capacity and flow. Thanks!
  10. I got this to work. I missed the 'convert to Generic Solid' step.
  11. I am trying to create some custom topiary / hedge forms using the Foliage tool. I am having issues changing the solid form of the foliage objects. I follow the instructions as outlined http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2019/eng/index.htm#t=VW2019_Guide%2FPlants%2FCovering_a_Solid_with_Foliage.htm&rhsearch=foliage&rhhlterm=foliage&rhsyns= When I try and paste my new solid form into the profile, it does not show up at all. Also, if I try to delete the sphere, it reappears over and over again in a slightly smaller size. For my new solid, I've tried using a 3D extrusion, converting to 3d polygons, converting to generic solid, even creating inside the profile editor, and all provide the same outcome. Please let me know what I am missing. Thanks!
  12. Hello. I have a road poly going down a slope. There is a pad modifier at the bottom of the road and the grade limit is set to the property boundary. I added a nurbs curve to the top edge of the road for finished grade at the road edge. 3D view shows to be accurate (top of paving = to adjacent grade). The contour lines however are not following the top of paving, instead they are following the 'cut' below the road on the DTM. While this is accurate for the cut, it is not accurate in terms of a site plan. Is there any workaround for this? See attached screenshot.
  13. Hello...I am fairly new with Vectorworks and just getting familiar. One issue I have run into is in the Hardscape tools. When modifying any part of the Hardscape Object (elevation, slope, etc) the program hangs and takes 3-5 mins to process each manipulation. This occurs both in 2d plan view and 3D OpenGL. Is this normal? Am I missing something? I do not experience this issue when using other site modifiers such as pads. Thanks!
