  1. I see that you can T, X or Y join walls together.

Is there a way to join two co-linear walls together.

I tried using the Join command with no success. The wall join modes don't work either.

I know i could join them manually. Just curious if i've overlooked something simple.

  2. I have had a similar problem printing to an HP455ca via Gimp Print in MacOS X.

The easiest workaround is to draw a rectangle as a border on your sheet layer. Keep the rectangle to the inside of the gray border. This method should allow you to print everything contained within the rectangle object.

  3. I really appreciate the addition of viewports and sheet layers in VW. It makes page layout and formatting much more flexible.

I often create a set of pre-defined sheet layers that include title block information and other notes and formatting. Currently I have to create each sheet layer from scratch (configure print setup, copy paste between sheet layers etc...).

I would like to see the addition of a 'Duplicate' button within the sheet layers window. This would allow me to setup my master sheet and make the minor modifications to the duplicate; not having to recreate each one from scratch.

  4. I would like to see a revised version of the Date/ Time Stamp tool.

The current version is quite limited - you have to manually update it. And, now with viewports and sheet layers, you need to have multiple time stamps because sheet layers only allow 1 layer to be visible.

I have tried the various vectorscript plug-ins. None of them really address the sheet layer issue.

I am looking for the ability to place a Date/Time/Filename stamp on the drawing as an auto-updating footer that is independant of the active layer. Similar to the way Excel can timestamp a document at printing.

  5. After some searching around on the GIMP site I found the following information that fixes the problem.

"If you want to return to using the postscript loop you can use the terminal to set a default that will tell the 10.3.x print system to behave similarly to how things used to be in 10.2.x. Be aware that altering this setting may well affect all printer drivers on your system, and it may cause adobe acrobat to fail to print in certain circumstances. So, to make your legacy apps produce postscript, similarly to how they behaved in Jaguar, enter this command at a terminal prompt:

    defaults write NSGlobalDomain com.apple.print.apple.pictwpstopdf YES

To return to the default "correct" behavior in Panther enter this command:

    defaults write NSGlobalDomain com.apple.print.apple.pictwpstopdf NO"

    This has worked for me.

  6. I am currently using OSX (10.3.2) with VW 10.5.1 and plotting to an HP 455ca plotter.

It seems that under this configuration, using the pre-installed GIMP drivers that are included with Panther, I cannot print with round pen weights that are typical of Postscript output. This seems to be causing output that is quite poor.

Previously, using Jaguar I could print with quality output and achieve postscript output with round pens.

Has anyone else experienced print quality issues since upgrading to Panther.

Using the CUPS configuration page (http://localhost:631/) I was able to print a test page that showed the Interpreter information. It listed the filter as "Apple pstopdffilter". I think this may have something to do with the problem - previous versions of GIMP used the "pstoraster" filter - I think...

Any have any advice on this issue?

Also, It appears that ESP Ghostscript is not required with Panther. Is this really the case?

  7. I have been drawing a 'decorative scroll' object using tangent arcs and came across the following bug:

The scroll was construcuted using tangent arcs. In order to resize the object as a whole, it was grouped and resized using the handles. When ungrouped, all of the arcs were turned into polylines.

Resizing with the 'Scale Objects' command seemed to preserve the arcs but I would prefer to scale using the handles.

    OSX.2

    VWA 10.5.0

  8. I would recommend upgrading to VW10 and not worrying about OSX for now. You do not need OSX to run VW10.

I have been running VWA w/ renderworks in both OS9 and OSX. VW seems to have a little more snap in OS9 on my G4/400 than in OSX.

Re: the HP500ps, Keep your fingers crossed that GIMP print will support your printer in it's next update. I have been using GIMP with my HP455 ca in OSX and it works flawlessly.

  9. quote:

I would hope for a Font Class option. A few different preset Font groupings. Kind of like regular classes but just for Fonts.

I agree completely. To combine font attributes with classes would be great. The "Format Text" option was a small step in the right direction but can certainly be improved on.

In addition, I would like to see the Eyedropper capable of picking up font attributes.

  10. I have found that the "Set Attribute Defaults - Line Thickness" menu option doesn't display properly in OS 10.2.3.

I can see the row of Unit options at the top and Cancel/ OK buttons at the bottom, but that's it - nothing in between except blank space.

    This doesn't happen in OS9.

    Is this a known bug?
