  1. Got it. The reason they are symbols within symbols is because I will typically have multiple instances of the same truss overhead or trusses SR that are mirrored SL and I need them to be the same. I think I may just add a small label to the bottom of the fixture in the symbol instead of labeling it after in the annotations.
  2. Right. Do you have any ideas on how I can achieve this while still having the whole thing a symbol? That's why I tried making it reference the light info record. I thought it might be able to skip any symbols that don't have that. Thanks Maxwell
  3. Hi Everyone, I found that when I use the "Create Multiple Viewports.." command it creates the viewport views I want, but doesn't insert a drawing label, like the regular "Create Viewport" command does. It would be great to have this feature and have it automatically display the dynamic text to show drawing number, name, scale, and viewport view. Thank you Maxwell
  4. Ah Thank you. That should work. However, I still feel making it possible to move from the center of 2 smart points should be available. I am all about streamlining workflow. Thanks Maxwell
  5. Hi Everyone, I attached a video of what is happening. As you can see I have "Snap to Object" on when I start. It stays on until I have to select my second point in the rotation. How can I have this stay on? My snapping palette is in the top left of my screen. Thanks Maxwell Snap Rotate.mp4
  6. Hi Everyone, I wanted to request the option to have the default drawing label VWX creates with a new viewport to display the viewport's view. So if I the viewport is in a front view it will display "Front" and if I change it to a top view it will say "Top". This would work exactly like the scale. Thanks Maxwell
  7. Right. All great ideas and that is how I currently do this. I was hoping to request a feature to automate all this and make it a simple one click option like Sketchup does. Thanks Maxwell
  8. Here is exactly what I am trying to achieve. Without having to draw a line to move from the center point. Centerpoint.mp4
  9. Hi Everyone, Attached is a VWX file. I have some lights on a truss and would like to have the data tag label the fixture I select. The data tag references the symbol name. As you can see the data tag is actually referencing the overall symbol and I wanted to see if it was possible to have it reference the lighting symbol within the overall symbol. I tried having it reference the model name within the light info record, but that didn't work either. Thank you Maxwell Data Tag.vwx
  10. Yeah... I was hoping for a simple solution. Like just being able to drag my selection by the center of the distance snap. I don't necessarily need a locus there. Just need to move items from a defined point.
  11. Yes. that could work. Do you know if I could make that sequence into a macro or something so I can just right click the object and run this all at once?
  12. Hi Pat, Attached is a VWX file with 2 cubes. Each is on their own class. You'll see when you update the viewport that the greyed out one disappears. These are renedered in hidden line. When in wireframe they seem to work, but I need it to work in hidden line. Thanks Maxwell Grey Class.vwx
  13. Hi Everyone, I have somehow reset the default text that is in the Notes Manager popup window. How can I get it back to being blank? I have a default template that I use to start all my drawings with the settings and defaults I need. Attached is a snapshot of what I am seeing. Thank you Maxwell
  14. Hi Everyone, In Sketchup I am able to right click a symbol and select "Make Unique" and it will copy that symbol with a new name and replace it in place. It would be great if Vectorworks had a feature like this. As it is now I have to find the symbol in the Resource Manager, duplicate it, then select my symbol in the model and replace it with the new one. Typically I will have a few instances of a symbol and will want to change one of them without changing the rest, but don't know yet if I will need to have other instances of the new symbol. Having a "Make Unique" feature would simplify this whole process. Pretty much the user would select their symbol in the model. Right click. Select "Make Unique", and VWX will duplicate the symbol in the Resource Browser with a new name and then replace the selected symbol with the new one. Thank you Maxwell
  15. Hi Everyone, I would like to request that the images in worksheet cells have an option to set the DPI. Right now the rest of my page on that sheet layer is set to 300 dpi and everything published to a 300 dpi PDF, but the images in my worksheet are stuck at 72 dpi with no way of changing it. My worksheet shows a 3D isometric view of the symbol, rendered in hidden line. I then have another column with the symbol name. It would be great to have the ability to have these images match the raster of the rest of the page. I have attached an image of what I am seeing. Thank you Maxwell Worksheet DPI.pdf
  16. Hi Everyone, After speaking with VWX tech support we determined that it is intentional to have 3D objects disappear when their class or layer is greyed out in a viewport and rendered in OpenGL or Hidden Line. I would like to request that this not be the case and instead they become grey. Let's say I have truss on a "truss" layer and lighting on a "lighting" layer. I have a viewport rendered in hidden line and in a front view. The lights are hung below the truss and I would like to grey out the truss on this page. On the next page I would like to grey out the fixtures. These are separate details for the person hanging the lights vs someone hanging the truss. I know I can make 2 instances of everything and have one using a black line and the other using a grey line, but that will mess up my counting worksheets and will make the file much larger, not to mention it is annoying. I have attached an image of what I am referring to. Thank you Maxwell Greyed classes.pdf
  17. Hi Everyone, I would like to request there be a tool to drop a locus at the center of 2 points. The tool would work by selecting the first point, then the second, and it will drop a 2D or 3D locus where the center of that line would be. If I have 2 lighting fixtures that I want to move to split center it would be helpful to have a center locus between the two insertion points. I know if you use smart points to select the first and second point it will then show you the center point, but it doesn't allow you to then use that point to drag your selection. This would be a great feature as well. I have included a screenshot of what I'm looking for. The top fixtures have a locus in the center and the bottom show that I cannot grab the center smart point to move those 2 fixtures from that point. Thank you Maxwell
  18. Yes. That would work great! I would like to ensure this wouldn't mess with any fixed column widths or row heights that have been set with cells formatted to wrap text. Best, Maxwell
  19. Hello, I would like to request the ability to publish a PDF of several sheet layers and determine which ones are bundled into a single PDF. My circumstance is that I have a lighting plot with 9 pages that are 24"x36" and I would like those to be exported to PDF as a single PDF, then my last page (page 10) is an equipment list on an 8.5"x11" piece of paper that I would like to be exported to it's own PDF. As it is now I need to publish the document twice to get these 2 PDFs, but it would be more efficient to be able to group sheets together and when I publish they will batch accordingly. It would also be great to be able to name each PDF batch individually. This would really streamline this workflow. With one button I can select my saved set and it will print 2 PDFs. One will be the drawing package, and the other will be the equipment list. All with correct file names. Thank you Maxwell
  20. Hello, I would like to request the ability to either stack worksheets top to bottom or bottom to top. An example of this is in the smart title block boarder tool, under "Revision Data" I can choose a direction for the rows to stack. I have a worksheet at the bottom of my sheet layer and when new rows are added it keep stacking to the bottom and goes off the page. It would be great to have a setting so the worksheet can sit at the bottom of the page and the new rows still get added to the bottom, but will push up all the other rows above it. Thank you Maxwell
  21. Hello, I would like to request the ability to replace a truss object like you can with lighting symbols and 3D symbols. Thank you Maxwell
