  1. I am trying to create a photo realistic rendering of a site by placing 3d plant images over an imported photo- I've tried jpg and pict formats- I'm able to draw, place the plants, change the view to get the proper perspective, but I cant get a rendered version to show the plants over the imported photo. Sending the photo to the back doesn't seem to make a difference. The 3d views work fine, but when I go to render the 3d symbols dissapear. VW 10.5.1b, Mac
  2. There are a number of style options available as choices within the stair tool preferences dialog box (objects pallette), but are only identified by a number ("style12"). Is there a descriptive reference available anywhere as to what these styles are? Mac v 10.5

The key to the conversion is to forget what you know about layers from Autocad. Layers become classes in Vectorworks, and VW layers give you a whole new way to control drawings. The changes in the interface become more natural over time. I made the switch about a year ago, with increasing success. I still use Autocad when needed, but gravitate more toward VW. I have used CAD based overlay programs (Landcadd) and find VW to be far superior. Just be prepared for a long learning curve.
  4. Is there any way to increase the font size in pallettes, particulary the OIP? VW 10.1, using an Imac, 17" screen at 1440x900 and don't want to change the resolution. Icon based pallettes are easy enough to read, but the text is so small I fear I'll need glasses soon.
  5. Not to beat a dead horse... but using an HP430, MAC OSx 10.2.4, gimp print v. 4.2.5 on a windows network I have no trouble with printer orientation using the procedure described above.
  6. As a convert from autocad I find myself wrestling with 3D. My question- are there 3D sample files available? I have found that working with an existing file, which allows the user to examine properties, shortens the learning curve. I am particlularly interested in landscape plans with contours, landscape walls, etc.
