  1. Hi,

I am currently looking at the below laptop:

    https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/ThinkPad-P17-Gen-2-17-inch-Intel-mobile-workstation/p/20YUCTO1WWENGB2/customize?utm_source=insidechat

Would this be a good spec for high quality rendering / continuous 3D modelling workflow?

Sorry I don't know much about laptops, but the current device I use spools a lot while 3D modelling let alone rendering.

    Thanks in advance

    Sam

  2. Hi,

I am looking for a laptop (to work from home) that can handle vectorworks architect as I use it for rendering and 3D modelling.

Can anyone suggest any laptops that have a suitable specification to do the job which are under £1000?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

  3. Hi,

Can anyone help with the following?. I am trying to connect the 2D and 3D elements of a 2D/3D symbol so all I have to do is edit the 3D aspect of the object. I have manually drawn a 2D object in the 2D part of the symbol.

    Can anyone help?

  4. Hi,

Can anyone help with importing IFC files into vectorworks?...First I imported the IFC file and then converted it in to an Auto Hybrid, then to 2D/3D symbol to give the object the 2D Visual I want. However when doing this process the IFC (BIM) data is hidden?..or disappears from the object..

Is there a way to add the BIM data so it is seen on the 2D/3D symbol?.

    Thanks

  5. @hepburngc Hi Graham,

This is how I import the file...

And then the result is this...

    image.thumb.png.0ec9e807319b7a4782302d9d4956d161.png

However, it only provides me with a 2D view of the Revit model and then I go inside of the symbol and I try and create an auto hybrid, but it buffers for a very long time.

I can see the potenially for it to be a 3D object, but the model has no texture and the mesh lines make it very complex.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Cheers,

    Sam

  6. Hi,

I am having issues importing revit files into vectoroworks. When I import the files it imports as a 2D/3D object, however the object doesn't have a texture, so I try the convert the Revit entity into an auto hybrib and the process buffers for an extremely long time.

Is there a simpler more manageable way to handle Revit files in Vectorworks? And reduce the file size?

    Thanks,

    Sam

  7. @Hans-Olav Hi Hans,

I am having a few problems trying to get the BIM information to show on the 3D symbol.

I imported an IFC from a manufacturer and then created an auto hybrid and then a symbol. However the BIM information is on the IFC model within the 3d symbol and auto hybrid. How can I move that Information on to the symbol which i've created?

Do you have any advise on this?

    Thanks,

    Sam

  8. @Pat Stanford Hi Pat,

    Happy New Year!

Thanks for this! I managed to get the files to appear in my favorites as I add them in to the workgroup folder

However there is nothing appearing in the workgroup libraries drop down, the files are automatically added to the favorites. Is this correct?

  9. Hi,

I am looking to create a work group folder for 3 people to use the same library in the office.

Is there a way in which I can share the library's I have on my vectorworks with others and for those libary's to update as I change them?

    Thanks

  10. Hi,

I'm looking to convert the library I have alrady created from Vectorworks 2018 to 2019. Is there an easy way to do this?

I opened 2019 and via the migration manager I was able to convert the title blocks etc, but it didn't give me the option for library's. Do I need to save each file individually?...It seems a bit tedious if this is the case.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

  11. I am having a problem with the rendering using a renderworks camera.

I have created my own renderworks style, however while on some projects it works like a treat, others it tends to become very bright and blotchy in areas.

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers
