  1. Sheet view was a poor choice of words... I think I meant "page" view, as in the extents of the window I'm working on. But it's a design layer issue I'm troubleshooting. And I've noticed it more often. I'll have to try and note a file so that maybe I can share a video... if that even translates/shows the problem. I'll try to make an example file, as well. I wouldn't know how to change the origin if you asked. Just noticed something... I still have to consider the implications. As I cycle through the layers the "page" view moves (100%) to include an item(s)... so it seems a layer will not open in a blank view if items are on that layer. Instead it changes the view to see objects. Again, these are 2D sections in line horizontally, so I wouldn't notice it if I was looking at say a layer stacked floor plan.
  2. As a side note to anyone unfamiliar with this problem, it's annoying at the least and results in a shocking slowdown of productivity.
  3. VIRTUALENVIRONS. My issues began in v2022 and have continued in v2023... I haven't drafted much in 2024. It's disappointing as I mad big investment in purchasing my 2023 M2. The vast majority of my work is construction documents (nothing 3D/rendering heavy) and I have multiple routine glitches (for lack of a better word) occur. Thanks for the input!
  4. Thanks for the correction, Peter. I meant restart. But it in truth I don't know if my restarting my Mac multiple times over a given period is what's correcting the issue: Post hoc ergo proctor hoc... afterwards therefore because of. Logical, but rarely true And yes, I run (2) monitors and generally have my laptop open. Interesting you ask, because I had another graphics related issue in recent years that I considered being a result of the monitors.
  5. Thanks, James. I'll try that workaround next time it occurs.
  6. Over multiple versions and hardware setups I've had this glitch occur almost daily. It occurs when attempting to hover my mouse pointer over an item (smart point/blue box) that should turn the pointer to crosshairs as it's identifying and selecting a smart point such as the end of a line or wall, a corner of an object, or just about everything. My smart points and all pertinent snaps are on. I do feel this is not setting-related, because eventually this glitch goes back to normal if I reset my Mac a couple times and just wait. Any input is welcomed. Oh yeah, and ALL other applications are turned off, and this glitch occurs across all files open when it's happens. I'm on v2023 w/ a 2023 M2. First attachment shows the glitch when trying to select a wall and the other working properly; the key being the mouse crosshairs don't appear or select. The other show it functioning normally. 7. Benson your thorough response is much appreciated. I tried to hang in there and work this through on a project, but it's beyond me. For what it's worth, this is not a new glitch and I've seen it across versions 2022 and 2023 and different Mac hardware.
  8. Yes, Alex. Imagine I'm reviewing several items (ie details) that are on separate design layers that are the same scale. I'll select one scale after another to work on, but I want to have the adjacent details (on different design layers) visible. Then I select a layer and my sheet view moves 100'. Not the end of the world, but frustrating doing this over and over.
  9. Thanks, Steven. I can recreate the anomaly, so I believe it's a setting as you mentioned. Again, it's only happened on a few projects. And today an anomaly that's also related to the coordinates. I'm copying and posting in-place a multitude of objects into a file, each on different layers set at a 1/4". All but one layer has the objects locations in the paste file located perfectly. And one layer has the location of multiple objects completely off.
  10. I've noticed this a handful of times before (far from often), but now it's become problematic. In this instance I've drafted (4) sections that are aligned horizontally. I've placed each on individual 1/4" layers. So to be clear, when I have all (4) layers on the sections are aligned. Then I zoom in so that I see (2) sections (which again, are on individual layers). I'll then need to change the layer to work on the associated section drawing. But the screen view coordinate changes. So I guess my question is, are there screen view coordinates associated w/ design layers?
  11. Since I can't delete this posting, allow me to share that I closed every application and window I had running. Then I restarted my laptop and tried purging the file several more times. Eventually it worked.
  12. Every time I open purge, my VWX freezes; I'm on 2023 at the moment. I can't even Force Quit. The only way that I can exit the program is by restarting my Mac. Is this a glitch? Hardware, perhaps? Thanks
  13. If someone happens upon this, to revert a "Working File (*.vwxw) back to a Drawings File (*.vwx) perform a Save Copy As and change the File Type to Drawings File (*.vwx).
  14. I'm attempting to setup Project Sharing via Dropbox. Everything seemed fine yesterday; I had a Working file on my hard drive and a Project File on Dropbox that were synched. At some point today I realised the Project File on Dropbox is now a working file. My fix (maybe) is to start over with a standard/normal working file and designate that as the Project File. But I first need to revert the file back to a non-sharing file. Does this make sense? I've been looking into all options for sharing, and have run into obstacles with all... and yes, I believe it's mostly likely user-error. Any input is appreciated.
  15. Too funny... closer to what I was thinking. Though I am absolutely going to put consideration into your possible reasons. Thanks!
  16. As a follow-up, I posted about this (in-part) because most of those who use Saved Views for Sheet Layers in my experience 'only' use them for Sheet Layers... and not for "working" views which is my standard use; including variations on floor plan views, elevation views, etc. I see lots of navigating to Sheet Layers and then clicking in-and-out of Viewports instead.
  17. Thanks for that detailed explanation, Pat! I figured there was a reason, but not necessarily 5+. A couple reasons actually aren't immediately clear, but I want to think on them before following up... I've no doubt they make sense. Happy New Year everyone!
  18. No. And I've come across studios doing this several times over the years. I figured it was based on something in a much older version that I'm unaware of... honestly thinking it was my lack of understanding.
  19. Why do some studios create saved views for each and every sheet layer? I happened upon this fairly frequently and am unclear as to the reasoning.
  20. Throughout my 15 years of Vectorworks-specific drafting experience (+2 years on AutoCAD) my work has focused largely on producing construction documents from concepts/schematics for a multitude of newly designed custom homes. I additionally possess a diverse background in the construction industry where my roles have ranged from that of a carpenter-to-a site superintendent on a multitude of high-end large scale custom home builds. In-turn these experiences afford me a unique perspective in developing a plan set with an intricate understanding of the design-build process, while aiding in any number of studio-related tasks; such as coordinating plans with outside consultants (ie. structural and mechanical engineers), reviewing takeoffs/schedules/shop drawings, or researching building code. So if you seek a Vectorworks draftsperson for remote freelance projects [will also consider a full-time in-house position] please message me directly. Thanks, Cory W
  21. The layer's the same, but good observation. I've gone through this exercise previously, but couldn't find the cause nor fix. I infer the file was copied over and then set up with no Saved Views, so I've gotten in the bad habit of going in-and-out of Viewports which I now think is the root of the issue. Thanks for your input though!

  23. Both. This also occurs (again, at the 20% range) when I simply group several items even; double checking all items are 2D items and that I'm on Layer Plane/Top/Plan/2D Plan. One or more will fly off to a different location. I'll locate the item. Then I'll select the item(s) and they are now 3D. This sometimes happens with symbols (which I see potential issues), but it also happens with something such as text or a polygon I just created and confirmed were 2D. It's a file setting (I didn't create the file). Because I can copy these items into a new blank file, and all is well.
  24. Mind you this is occurring in VWX2022, but I'm working on a file where (from what I can observe) most all objects are 2D, Layer Plane, set to Top/Plan, and 2D Plan. But ~20% of the time the objects I create (from linework-to-symbols-to-text) convert to 3D objects and changes the view to orthogonal. Is this condition familiar to anyone? I thought it may be a legacy 2d issue, but welcome any input.
