  1. Gumball in Rhino3d (and many other applications) is a really great little tool, within about 2 months of this being implemented a few years back my thoughts were, 'how on earth did we manage before this little fella arrived' πŸ˜πŸ‘ (it can be turned on and off as desired) Gumball.mov
  2. @Kevin McAllister this really needs to be implemented in VW, a gumball is such a simple, efficient way to simply move, scale, and rotate an object πŸ‘
  3. @rDesign hahaha, that's like over 2 years back, thanks for the link though. I guess it's deemed not an important feature request, really surprising though tbh πŸ€”
  4. @Jim Smith @Kevin McAllister wow I'm surprised there isn't a gumball style manipulator in VW, such a simple thing that really improves user efficiency and experience πŸ˜‘
  5. Hi forum, is there a way to move, scale, rotate objects with a 'Gumball' style widget. At the moment I'm stumbling my way round moving, rotating objects. tia 😊
  6. @Phil hunt Phil, thanks for that info, much appreciated, cheers πŸ‘πŸ»
  7. @mjm yeh I'm slowly stumbling my way around the structure and organisation needed 😊
  8. @Gadzooks thanks for all the input chap, much appreciated πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
  9. @Gadzooks ah I see, I thought it was rubbish 🀣. This was from one the links you posted above, surprising what crap makes its way onto the 3d Sketch Up warehouse I think I'll stick with creating my own objects for now, at least I'll know they are right πŸ‘
  10. @Gadzooks the unit I downloaded and imported in VW doesn't look like its got an 18mm door ? (attached below) M+W+upper+80x100+door-4.skp
  11. @Gadzooks I'm kinda wondering why the door looks like it's about 1mm thick 🀣
  12. these Sketch Up models don't import too well, and you can't import Sketch Up 2018 models, only 2017 and earlier πŸ™„ I think we'll be creating our own libraries 😊
  13. @Gadzooks yeh you're probably right, will just start to create a library of the types of cabinets we use so would you suggest that I draw up the carcass units first, group together and make as a symbol, and then place doors, drawer fronts after, and make as a different symbol (we often have carcass one colour/finish, and doors a different finish). Or is it possible to draw as one group and assign different textures/colours to carcass and doors ? I know I can create and assign classes for different objects. As you can tell I really am starting from the bottom stumbling my way round at the moment πŸ˜… Thanks for your input, I do appreciate it 🍻
  14. @Gadzooks thanks for chipping in. Yes it seems the cabinet tools is not as versatile as it should be. Anyway, I have no problems drawing my own and creating a library of content. So, how do I go about adding them to the resources library ? And can we make them parametric, i.e, if I adjust the width of the unit, the sides remain at 18mm thickness ? Can we add information to them which can extracted onto a worksheet as a bill of quantities etc ? tia
  15. Hello forum, I'm a complete newbie with VW Architect 2019. I'm trying to use the furn/fixtures tools, base cabinets, custom cabinets etc. I'm not quite getting the customisation I need. In the base cabinets tool I'd like to eliminate the stile around the perimeter, screenshot attached, red circled is VW base unit, blue circled is cabinet I have drawn up. How customisable are the cabinets ? Is there any online support/tutorial showing how to fully customise these objects ? Second question is, if we have to create our own cabinets, can we make our own library which is in the VW resource files ? ps, I'm aware of InteriorCad for cabinets, our budget has been totally spent recently, 3 new workstations, 3 VW Architect 2019 licenses and various other accessories ☺️,
  16. @Mark Aceto that bad ? the Rhino5 file imports fine, although that is as far as I got 🀣. What are the challenges with a 3dm file inside of VW ?
  17. @Mark Aceto @Kevin McAllister well hopefully now a few users are making their Rhino/VW workflow known V6 compatibility might make an appearance πŸ™‚ chaps I'm a complete VW newbie, what's the best way to import a Rhino model (say a kitchen cabinet) and make it a VW class object or symbol, where I can use like a custom cabinet ? tia
  18. a V5 & V6 file attached for comparison πŸ‘ Rhino V5 Test.3dm Rhino V6 Test.3dm
  19. @Jim Wilson I can't attach to this thread or message you the files, file type not supported ??
  20. @Jim Wilson apologies Jim, VW 2019, Architect. From the file drop down menu in VW, Imports, there is a specific option Rhino 3dm ?
  21. Very new to VW, just testing import from other file types (I use Rhino3d a lot). Tried to import a Rhino V6 file, no success. Saved the same file to a Rhino V5 file and the import worked fine. Is this something that needs addressing or highlighting as a bug ?
  22. @Claes Lundstrom great feedback Claus, much appreciated. Yes I'm familiar with Keyshot, its a nice render engine, and since KS 6 the ability to render interior scenes is much improved, its what I use on my machine at home for my own work. I think here in the office where I do some design work for a company we may look at adding Artlantis, the balance of price point, learning curve and the fact that we're not doing lots of renders it makes sense. Cheers for the input ☺️, super nice renders by the way πŸ‘
  23. @EAlexander thanks for chipping in, nice work on your site πŸ‘. We don't do lots of renders, maybe a few a month, quick concept visuals for clients so we want a balance between cost and learning curve. C4D looks great but is expensive and requires quite a bit of learning from what I understand. Yes I hope an Artlantis user can add some feedback to this thread, cheers 😁
  24. @HEengineering yes would be good to hear from someone who has used both and to know comparisons between learning curve, render speed and output quality, hopefully someone will chip in soon πŸ‘
  25. @rjtiedeman thanks πŸ‘, probably a good idea to try seeing as we're just about to buy 7k's worth of VW licenses (a lot for a small company like ours) 😝
