[Event Staging Design Specialist]

 

IMS Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled and imaginative Live Event Design Specialist  to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience using The Vectorworks Entertainment Suite of products for 3D rendering and design in a fast-paced live event environment. A strong base of experience in scenic stage set, including but not limited to, keynote or general session design, understanding construction needs, resourcing suppliers, and best practices as related to overall design are required. Additional proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator a plus as it relates to scenic design a plus. .

Responsibilities:

Design and create 3D renders of major Live Events main stage, keynote or general sessions using Vectorworks for Audio for IMS projects and events.

Work collaboratively with project managers, production managers, account managers and clients  to form specific venue designs and technical drawings for identified events

Participate in site visits, sourcing, onsite events and partner meetings to ensure designs meet the client's needs and IMS standards

Collaborate with the Director of Production Design, PM Teams, and Account Representatives to execute projects

Propose insight and expertise to the ES Team when developing new drawings in support of an event.

Reach out directly to appropriate venue personnel to understanding building code, specific site regulations and engineering principles.

Contribute to overall work improvement and exceeding customer and team expectations related to delivery, accuracy and creative design.

Qualifications:

Proficient in Vectorworks Spotlight, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

·         2-5 years +, Auto CAD/Vectorworks experience, associate’s degree in drafting or similar discipline a plus

·         Ability to understand complex calculations and have sound knowledge of building and safety regulations.

·         Ability to articulate technical concerns based on research conducted and initial drafting/drawings concepts produced

Knowledge of scenic design and construction

Imaginative and creative approach to design and implementation

Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment

Strong multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills

Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects while maintaining deadlines

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Some travel required

This is a full-time position based in Linwood PA with opportunities for growth and advancement within the company. The Design Specialist will report directly to the Director of Production Design. [No Project Share options in the File drop down.]

One of my colleagues that I am sharing a project with does not have the Project Share options.  He is able to open a working file from the master and save it to his desktop, but there is no Save and Commit option.  There are no Project Share options at all.  Does something need to be turned on in preferences?  I've never seen this issue before.

Pat, you have saved me more times than I can count. I owe you many beverages.

Can someone explain to me how I can turn off or hide locus points from generating every time I use the projection tool?  I am trying to build an easy template for new users to create simple top plans, and this is muddying the waters. 

 

[Custom Renderworks Workaround]

For the past couple years I have had problems with re-rendering a project and it displaying the previous render.  I've seen this discussed a number of times and I've also  sent in a few project files to VW to be diagnosed, but they can't reproduce it.  I work on a PC on VW2020,  and coincidentally this is also affecting my colleague on a Mac in VW2020.

 

The only workaround I have discovered is to go into the custom renderworks settings, and change the Curved Geometry setting to anything other than what it was previously on. Then re-render and it works fine.  But I have to make this change in the settings every single time.  Through trial and error I've found that ONLY the Curved Geometry setting will change it. 

 

Am I the only one having this problem?
