  1. The USD file will have this scale factor in it and/or the coordinates in the file should be set to something useful. Default for USD without specifying a scale factor would be centimeters. We read this info in, you should only need to set the dialog option if the file wasn't saved with useful real-world size in it. https://openusd.org/dev/api/group___usd_geom_linear_units__group.html
  2. Hello @rDesign The lack of textures bug and drag and drop will be fixed in the next service pack release, coming in a couple weeks.
  3. Hello @rDesign: Unfortunately the USD libraries we rely on for this do not work on macOS 11. I know the user experience for this is terrible and I apologize. We will be working on a better message for this in the UI, such that it will say something like "Not supported on this OS version" or an alert, in a future release. To use the USD menus you would need to use a newer macOS.
  4. @Josh Schulman hold tight the events team will be reaching out to you.
  5. Hello @rjtiedeman the import formats that would include textures and mapping are Sketchup, OBJ, 3DS, and USD.
  6. Hello @Josh Schulman The Open House is next week, is that what you mean? https://www3.vectorworks.net/vectorworks-open-house-registration-23
  7. Dropbox says the link was deleted, can someone share this file please?
  8. Hello @mlim Look to the Light Tool in the Visualization palette and the Custom light tool mode. This uses IES files. https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2023/eng/VW2023_Guide/Rendering2/Adding light_sources.htm?rhsearch=ies&rhhlterm=ies
  9. It sounds like the Clip Cube is on? Maybe it is on in a saved view you are using?
  10. Google translate says aerial work platform is Hubarbeitsbühne
  11. Yes, the reason I mentioned 5m limit is if your use case is a theater you may not be able to reach the ceiling. I guess you could rent a cherry picker and move that up and down while scanning with your phone. 🙂
  12. LiDAR is available in Nomad and now includes Room Plan, but also the Photos to 3D Model photogrammetry feature was updated recently to use Apple's Object Capture and it works better than before. Many photogrammetry datasets we have around that failed before now succeed. Since for you the room is likely beyond the 5m limit of the iPhone LiDAR I agree photogrammetry would be what you should use. Give Photos to 3D Model a try. https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/capture-photos-for-3d-models/?app=VECTORWORKS https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-3d-models-from-photos/?app=IOS_NOMAD
  13. @Andy Broomell If you add the gobo files to your resource manager favorites or to the default libraries do they then show up in the browser menu? Having favorites show in the browser menu sounds like a good enhancement to me if Vectorworks doesn't do that yet. EDIT: I didn't read this close enough, I am asking around here about why you might not get hits for the word gobo, this may be that the resources are not tagged.
  14. @Jesse Cogswell Thanks for this post. It's valuable and appreciated!
  15. Old thread yes, in 2023 spot light objects have a Texture setting in the Object Info palette Render pane. You can directly apply a texture to a spot light and it will project the image in Shaded and Renderworks render modes. https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2023/eng/VW2023_Guide/Rendering2/Light_source_properties.htm#h1
  16. Hello @bhorv1967 Lit lenses for all lighting devices is something on our radar for a future release.
  17. Hello @Henry Finch Wow three years later, there has been continuous work done to mobile and web solutions in this area. Last year at this time the big news was the web and mobile 3D viewer in browser and in Nomad was re-engineered to use Unity and we have seen lots of benefits and improvements following that re-engineering. 2023.0 has better rendering visuals. Parallel developments in cloud presentations, just released in Vectorworks 2023 Service Pack 3 allow you much more flexibility in creating compelling web-based multimedia presentations. The iOS PDF viewer is being upgraded as we speak. More integrated storage like Google Drive and iOS Files app. The latest release page has some of these details: https://www.vectorworks.net/en-US/2023 The public roadmap gives you some idea of what is being worked on in Vectorworks and cloud services: https://www.vectorworks.net/en-US/public-roadmap This roadmap link shows when each public roadmap item was completed: https://www.vectorworks.net/en-US/public-roadmap/updates Vectorworks 2022 SP3 viewer upgrades: https://youtu.be/XsgM48A7nFM
  18. @Ben Garcia Design Thanks for posting this info and yes I think I understand and agree this would be a good improvement, we will work on it! There are other cases where we can consolidate the sub-objects further: 1. Groups with a lot of 3D polygons in it all with the same color or material, this can happen often with imported geometry 2. Walls that have many separate sub-objects for the wall components 3. Plug-in objects, where all the sub-objects could be combined under the plugin object instance, example would be a single Cabinet actor with all the geometry in it. Since you can't edit plug-ins you might want these to be consolidated.
  19. @Ridder Thanks for mentioning that, the (black) textures for the lighting device bodies have their cast shadows flag turned off in Vectorworks for that reason. Maybe they need to be turned off in the Unreal materials.
  20. Hello @Ridder Yes we plan to add support for export of lights. Not all lights types are supported in USD but we will send over what is possible. For Unreal, you can use Datasmith and MVR export together. Export Datasmith, then export MVR into the Datasmith "assets" folder. There is an Import MVR plugin available in the latest Unreal that will combine the Datasmith geometry and MVR metadata to connect everything together in Unreal for pre-viz workflows. https://gdtf-share.com/news/2022_12_05_Unreal_Engine_Announces_Support_of_GDTF_and_MVR https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.1/en-US/unreal-engine-5.1-release-notes/#dmx
  21. Hello Tom W: We only have major version for this not minor versions, but I will add that support as a wish considering we are adding new features in service packs these days.
  22. Hello @Kaare Baekgaard I see ads for these on my Facebook, definitely a neat technology for adding interest without cost. Kind of like a holographic image prop. Since they work in Cineware it keeps this alive as a possibility for the future.
  23. This is a clip cube problem can you direct message this file to me for bug fixing?
  24. No I am seeing in SP4 that it still uses only the active layer's bounds, thanks for the clarifications. Still an open bug. Workaround for the moment would be select all then turn on clip cube to get bounds of all objects.
  25. @line-weight Traditionally mid-March. We increased the number of Service Packs so what used to be around SP3 is now SP4.
